Chapter 176
Xavier's POV
The cold air whipped against my face as I sped down the empty highway, the night far too quiet for what I knew was coming. My fingers gripped the steering wheel tight, the leather biting into my palms. My gut churned, not just from the tension, but from something darker. Something heavier.
First, I didn't know where the Queen was.
And then there is Lily.
Something was definitely wrong with her, I could feel it. The way Joe's voice had cracked on the phone earlier, it wasn't just fear; it was despair. And for a man like him to sound like that? It could only mean one thing.
She was in danger.
But there was something else tonight, something even more pressing. Ivan's orders.
The phone on the passenger seat buzzed again, cutting through the hum of the engine. I grabbed it without looking, pressing it to my ear.
"Your highness"
"Xavier," Joe's voice rasped through the line. He sounded out of breath and strained. "Give me an update."
