Chapter 170 Xavier's POVWhen I pulled up, I realized it wasn't a restaurant or a hotel. It was a villa, tucked in the middle of town, hidden behind thick trees and a tall wrought-iron gate. You wouldn't even know it was there unless you were looking for it. From the outside, it looked like a private mansion, but the glow from its windows screamed luxury.
The gate creaked open on its own, like it had been expecting me and I drove in, stopping on the driveway,
"Of course," I muttered. "It's her style."
I didn't move immediately. My fingers tightened around my phone, thumb hovering over Joe's contact.
"One last try," I whispered and pressed the call button.
The line rang once… twice… and then…
"…Xavier…"
My heart leaped. "Alpha Joe? Thank the moon! Where the hell have you been? What is going on?. I have been trying to reach you all day"
Static swallowed his voice for a second, then I caught fragments through the distortion. "Xavier…I…"
"Hello… I can't hear you".
