Chapter 140Jane's POV
"I said let go!" I hissed, jerking my wrist as hard as I could.
But Sonia's grip didn't budge. Her fingers were iron chains digging into my skin, and her eyes, those blazing, furious eyes, were no longer the eyes of a meek servant. They were the eyes of someone who had already made her choice.
She leaned in, her face so close I could feel her breath hot against my cheek.
"You've had your fun kicking me around, treating me like dirt," she spat. "But you forget something, Jane."
I swallowed, my throat tight. Against my will, the question slipped out. "W… what?"
Her lips curved into a cold smile. "Even dirt can choke you if you bury yourself too deep in it."
"What?. What…what did you say?. Did you… just threaten me?". I tried to sound mean and hard and all she did was smirk.
A tremor shot down my spine. My heartbeat quickened. "Shit. What is happening? What do I do now?".
