Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Shock and Scare

The world in Luther's dream started to take shape, more tangible than reality itself. He blinked in a desperate bid to still his breathing. The individual before him—his clothing, his stance, even the smoldering raggedy edges of his torn cloak—felt too familiar. His clothing precisely mirrored John's, only the years having their effect and wearying him in countless wars. The identical tiger emblem shone softly over his chest, the same that John had proudly shown him in that afternoon.

Is that… John? But older… stronger? Luther's heart raced.

The man wielded a colossal sword, its blade covered with cracks like burning magma. Red fire licked the edges of it, and his aura—furious, boiling—flared like a storm ready to consume everything. He charged and roared, his voice full of stubborn resolve, "We are best friends. Our friendship is superior to your twisted perceptions, Akuma. Together—we will defeat you!"

Standing before him was a hulking figure shrouded in warped shadows—Akuma. His presence distorted the air itself, a crushing pressure that pressed down on the earth. Akuma maniacally laughed, the kind that crawled under one's skin like an insect. "You kids. defeated ME? How pathetic. How absurd." His thunderous laughter. "HAHAHAHA!"

With a quick motion, Akuma raised his hand. A whirlpool of pure blackness formed, shedding black lightning that ruptured the rock beneath it. He plunged it into the earth and shrieked, "By my command—Summoning: King Monster, Raviel!"

The world trembled.

The earth creaked apart with a thundering snap. Fire and flames burst forth as the behemoth clawed its way out of perdition. Luther's eyes widened—this was no beast.

Aghast monster was born, towering tall as a flesh-made nightmare. It had wings like a bat, but stretched and torn as if to have traveled through hellfire. It had a humanoid body that was defaced, with scales and dark blue and black metallic sheen. It had a dragon's claws for hands, sharp enough to slice steel like paper. Lava-like cracks pulsed below its surface, sending internal fire.

About Raviel-

Raviel — Searing Flames' King, king of a forgotten kingdom of darkness.

A horror feared even by such mighty warlords of yore.

A monster that annihilates enemies in but a few seconds, reducing them to nothing by ruthless effectiveness.

An individual who only submits to contract or after being defeated in the heat of battle—a feat bordering on impossibility.

Raviel loosed a bellow that stunned the air. He raised his hand, gathering blazing fireballs in clawed hands, and hurled them at the two combatants straight ahead.

Yet the flame never touched them, for a shining emerald shield burst into existence, taking the flames into itself. The barrier shone like crystal, vibrating with raw magical energy.

Luther whirled in shock. A young woman stepped out, her movements smooth but deadly. She was breathtaking—golden red locks flowing like liquid fire, silver-illuminated eyes that glowed with inner flames. Her locks flowed around her, and she wore a green cloak with runes embossed on it. She was a senior magician, every inch of it.

She glared at Raviel, her voice cold and unflinching. "If you wish to harm them. then you'll have to get through me first."

The three stood as a force of destiny—two warriors and one master mage. Fire blazed, darkness twisted, and the air itself around them seemed to distort. Luther felt his own heart beating in tandem with theirs, as if their determination vibrated within his own chest.

Akuma's eyes pinched shut, annoyed. "Raviel. End them."

The beast bellowed like thunder,=moving, each step shaking the ground like thunder. The warriors gripped their blades. The mage raised her staff, magic swirling around her like a storm of stars.

The older John—if he was really him—glanced at his crew and grinned wildly, his sword burning with even more furious flames. "Just like we drilled. ready?"

The second warrior standing next to him, features partly hidden beneath a cowl, nodded silently, aura boiling like a raging blaze.

For a moment. all was quiet.

And then...
