Chapter 11 - Was Something Going On Between Them Both?

Lucas couldn't believe his eyes.

He had used all his resources in searching for harmonica for years but he still couldn't find her. It was like she had disappeared off the face of earth.

But now, he was staring at her. It was harmonica in flesh. But she looked…different.

She looked bolder, sexier and her hair was longer.

His eyes scanned her whole—From her head to how slender she had become then her face that held no sign of playfulness.

She didn't look a bit like the woman he once knew.

This woman was cold. She didn't spare him a glance after he called her name. Instead, she shuffled through her presentation files, ignoring him.

''Is something wrong mr stone?'' One of his board members asked and Lucas straightened, regaining his composure.

He ignored the old man, his butt kissing his leather seat while his eyes still lingered on Harmonica.

Harmonica could feel his piercing gaze on her. She tried to act nonchalant, unbothered but her lungs…it fought for air.

She hated being in the same room as him and she couldn't wait for the meeting to be over.

''I think the investors would be running late'' Cici—Her assistant whispered into her ears and she almost choked on her spit.

'Crap!' She snapped inwardly, rubbing her sweaty palms against her dress.

Her phone buzzed with an incoming message and she picked it up, smiling widely as she read the text.

'No way you think you're getting rid of me that easy.'

It was a message from Beth, her friend from Amsterdam. They had been inseparables since Harmonica met her at a meeting with one of her clients.

She had automatically become Zade's godmother.

With the text, there a photo attached to it indicating that she had flown into New York. Harmonica immediately knew that her time in New York was going to be chaotic.

She got off her seat and headed for the washroom, hoping to pass a little time and also flee from Lucas intense gaze.

She had prepped before she came here. She had known it wasn't going to be easy being around him. She had told herself it was going to be okay because Lucas never cared for her.

But now, she didn't know anymore.

With the guidance of some of the workers, she was able to get into the women's restroom.

Once in, she turned on the faucet and let it run over her sweaty hands while she stared at her reflection in the mirror.

After dabbing her face with some powder, she exhaled sharply before reaching for the door. But her eyes widened in shock when she saw Lucas in front of the ladies room tapping his legs impatiently against the floor.

Immediately he sighted her coming out, he pulled her back into the restroom and locked the door.

''What the fuck?!'' Harmonica shouted, pulling her hands away from his.

''What of the baby?'' Lucas asked, his back resting against the door, giving her no space to go out.

''What baby?'' Harmonica asked angrily, her chest heaving as she stared at Lucas like he was the worst thing that happened to earth.

And to her, He was!

''I'm not fucking joking!'' Lucas warned, taking slow strides towards Harmonica who backed away as trepidation washed through her.

She stared at the dangerous look that marred his face and her bold font was starting to dissipate.

She kept going back until she could no longer do so as her back hit the wall.

He smirked.

''I'll ask again. Where. Is. The. Baby?'' He asked, his voice dangerously low.

He was just an inch away from her and his hands wrapped around the base of her neck, not squeezing but daring her to say the wrong thing.

Before Harmonica could respond, she heard the sound of door banging and her assistant's voice bloomed. ''Ma'am? Are you in there?'' She asked, her hands still hitting the door.

''The investors are here.'' She continued.

Harmonica exhaled sharply as she watched Lucas pull away from her.

He eyed her before turning the door knob and leaving, making cici's eyes almost bulge from its socket.

She had to look up again to see if it was really the ladies restroom.

Confirming that it really was, she quickly got in to see her boss looking lost with her shirt a bit…disheveled.

Was something going on between both CEO's?

Brushing the thoughts aside, she tapped Harmonica's shoulder worriedly. ''The investors are here ma'am.''

Harmonica nodded absentmindedly, following behind cici who led the way back to the boardroom.

Minutes later, A slender lady who was casually dressed yet looking professional sauntered into the boardroom, looking apologetically at both Harmonica and Lucas. ''Forgive me for being late'' She said, following behind her assistant who lead her to a swivel chair at the middle of the boardroom.

''Oh it's fine.'' Harmonica said, dismissing her apology with a smile. She stood up from her seat, taking her presentation materials with her.

''Can you turn on the projector?'' She asked Grey—Lucas's assistant and he nodded, taking her USB and inserting it in a laptop before connecting it to the projector.

''I'll have that.'' Lucas said, grabbing unto the ipad on Grey's palms while the latter gave him a shocked expression.

His boss had never done his own presentations himself. He would rather review it and let grey do it while he lounged on his chair.

Now, he seemed rather….competitive.

Harmonica eyed Lucas who was now standing close to her with a iPad in his hand. She knew he was good at his job but she didn't think he knew what he was doing on that iPad.

As if sensing her scrutiny, Lucas cleared his throat and turned off the iPad. He reached for the projector and turned it on; Project Helix: Building a safer and smarter digital world was written bodly on the screen.

Seeing that the screen was already lit up, Harmonica started. ''Kyro industries not only brings market foresight and adaptive intelligence, but we also predict the needs before they arise. This merger positions us years ahead of industr—''

''Stone ltd has safeguarded national infrastructure and private empires over a decade. By integrating its predictive AI, we could go as far as anticipating the future.'' Lucas interrupted, an evil smirk on his lips as he noticed Harmonica's expression.

Grey and Cici looked also looked at each other in confusion.

Harmonica and Lucas were supposed to be making a joint presentation. But somehow, it seemed like they were competing against each other for the deal.

Harmonica faked a smile at Lucas as she cursed him inwardly.

The nerve of him to interrupt her!
