In the ME Corp industrial park, mechs patrolled back and forth through the lanes between buildings, checking for any dangerous elements and ensuring the safety of the entire area.
Even for a routine patrol, given the size of the industrial park, the number of mechs deployed was still considerable, a testament to the formidable strength of Anti-Entropy.
And these were only a small fraction of the mechs ME Corp possessed; many more were still hidden within the buildings.
Should an intruder attack, the instantly converging ocean of mechs would deliver a devastating blow, making them understand the consequences of provoking Anti-Entropy.
But tonight, this fortress-like industrial park was destined for turmoil.
This time, it was not the infiltration of a small group of enemies, but the invasion of a legion—a legion composed of Honkai Beasts.
When the high-frequency vibrating wings of the Honkai Beasts were just a stone's throw away, their loud buzzing incessant, a war was already on the verge of breaking out.
There was no time to question why the Honkai Energy detectors had failed to sense the enemy's arrival, nor was there time to ponder why the Honkai Beasts would attack here without any warning. ME Corp was already facing the first wave of the enemy's assault.
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
The speeding Honkai Beasts crashed down like cannonballs, leaving large holes in the reinforced concrete buildings. Even the heavy Titan mechs were as fragile as paper under the high-frequency vibrating wings of the Honkai Beasts, quickly dismantled into a pile of parts.
Inside an office building, an Assault-class Honkai Beast, having recovered from the impact, let out a roar. An invisible gust of wind sent countless documents flying, the papers scattering like snowflakes.
With a flap of its wings, the Honkai Beast moved like a swift gale, its black body weaving through the equipment. Its razor-sharp wings sliced through devices of all materials, reducing them to fragments with equal prejudice.
Witnessing the monstrous destructive power of the Honkai Beast, the overtime-working corporate drones frantically fled towards the exits. Their long-neglected bodies erupted with unprecedented strength, terrified that a moment's delay would result in them being grazed by those wings and sharing the same fate as the equipment.
Immersed in destruction, the Honkai Beast ignored the fleeing people, remaining focused on annihilating all manner of civilized creations, as if this were its sole mission.
*Bang! Bang, bang!*
Before long, soldiers in steel exoskeletons finally arrived. Unable to use Honkai Energy, they were only equipped with conventional firearms, but they still fought to protect their home in their own way.
Metal bullets streaked through the air. The black Honkai Beast nimbly weaved through the hail of gunfire, its silicon-based carapace allowing it to ignore most bullets. Unless a vital point was hit directly, it was difficult to inflict effective damage.
*Pow!*
Dodging the chaotically flying bullets, a Honkai Beast slammed into a soldier's chest. The terrifying force sent the soldier flying backward, crashing heavily against the wall behind him. His head lolled to the side, and he passed out.
"Damn it!"
Someone cursed under their breath, but they had no time to check on their comrade. The black reaper had not yet departed. The Honkai Beast, after its hit-and-run attack, turned around again, its dark red eyes surveying its prey, a low, unintelligible growl rumbling in its throat.
The battle between humans and Honkai continued in this confined space.
And in the lanes outside, as the patrolling mechs were dismantled, the signal of an enemy attack was instantly transmitted.
More mechs poured out from all directions. Countless shells, aided by computers, were fired, accurately hitting the Assault-class Honkai Beasts one by one. Deafening explosions echoed, accompanied by scattered silicon-based fragments.
Amidst the flying shells, the black Assault-class Honkai Beasts streaked across the night sky, their sharp, gleaming wings aimed at the steel-made Titans.
Almost every minute, several Honkai Beasts were blasted to pieces, but at the same time, a considerable number of Titans were completely dismantled, losing their ability to fight.
Yet, amidst the scattered, flying Assault-class Honkai Beasts, three exceptionally tall figures stood towering.
The three Honkai Beasts were Chariot-class, Templar-class, and Knight-class. Their types were not unusual, but they stood a full twenty meters tall, and the intense Honkai Energy fluctuations they emitted reached the level of an Emperor-class Honkai Beast, undoubtedly at the pinnacle of inferior Honkai Beasts.
If the swarming Assault-class Honkai Beasts were merely causing chaos, then these three Honkai Beasts were an absolute nightmare.
Before their massive size, the Titan mechs were like children's toys, not even reaching the Templar-class Honkai Beast's waist. The shells fired by the mechs couldn't even leave a scratch on the Honkai Beasts' hard carapaces, while a casual strike from a Honkai Beast could smash a Titan to pieces.
Before them, sturdy buildings were like sandcastles that could be toppled with a push, and steel mechs were nothing more than assembled models. All obstacles were utterly crushed by their god-like power.
For a time, the panicked shouts of fleeing people, the roar of artillery, the rattle of gunfire, the roars of Honkai Beasts, the buzzing of vibrating wings... all sorts of sounds erupted at once, plunging the entire industrial park into chaos.
Surveying the smoke-filled industrial park below, Ming Yu's face was devoid of expression. There was no anger or killing intent, nor was there pity or sorrow. All that remained was a tranquility like still water.
He had thrown all the Honkai Beasts he had collected during his "patrol" these past few days into this invasion, yet he had not given a single order to kill. If nothing unexpected happened, there would be no casualties in this invasion.
This was an action Ming Yu carried out for his own selfish reasons. If he were to swing his butcher's knife as he pleased, what difference would there be between him and people like Cocolia?
But even so, injuries were inevitable, and it was uncertain whether there would be any deaths. After all, he was just one person; he couldn't be perfect.
"In the end, it's just the arrogance of having power. There's really no difference between me and those people..."
With a self-deprecating smile, Ming Yu made no attempt to find excuses for himself. No matter how much he tried to argue, he could never deceive his own heart.
Right is right, and wrong is wrong. Although it was often difficult to judge right from wrong, his act of trampling on human lives could in no way be considered justice.
Tightening the gray cloak that concealed his figure, Ming Yu issued a command into the communicator by his ear: "Higokumaru, send me the internal layout of ME Corp."
After receiving the girl's affirmative reply, Ming Yu bent his knees slightly, and his body instantly leaped like a bird towards the central building of ME Corp.
......
Inside the ME Corp building, Mami stood quietly at the front desk. Even with the sound of artillery fire coming from far outside, her uniform remained perfectly neat.
As an outstanding receptionist, she always kept the company in her heart, striving to maintain ME Corp's good image. Even though a battle seemed to be raging outside, she still hadn't forgotten her duty, holding fast to her post.
Although such incidents were not common for ME Corp, she had full confidence in the company. The petty thieves invading the company would surely be suppressed soon. And if she were to panic now, it would be far too undignified.
Mami was thinking this when she saw a figure completely wrapped in a gray cloak slowly walk in through the main entrance.
Startled, before fear could even take root, Mami's body had already reacted.
"Sir, do you have an appointment?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, Mami cursed herself internally. This guy who obviously looked like trouble was definitely one of the invaders, and she, by trying to stop him, was probably done for in the next moment.
"Are you asking me?" Unexpectedly, the low male voice sounded somewhat gentle, without a trace of gloom. "I don't have an appointment, but you can call me Black Fox."
The man's words seemed nonsensical, or perhaps, he believed the name "Black Fox" was a sufficient pass.
Looking at the Inari fox mask on the man's face, Mami silently mocked the name Black Fox in her heart, but she couldn't help but take a few steps back. Although this person hadn't done anything out of line yet, he was clearly not a good person.
Glancing at Mami's movement, Black Fox nonchalantly walked past the front desk and continued deeper into the building, as if Mami were merely a piece of decoration.
Feeling Black Fox's indifferent gaze, Mami's body instantly stiffened. She couldn't say another word, only able to let him proceed.
Mami stole a glance at Black Fox's plain gray cloak, but apart from finding an Ouroboros pattern on the chest, she found nothing else.
As the sound of the man's footsteps gradually faded, Mami's body collapsed, but she still managed to press the red button in the corner with a trembling finger.
The next moment, a piercing alarm blared throughout the building!
