"Kai..?" She called out to him as the guy slowly approached her. He let out a low chuckle once he saw the panicked expression on Ayesha's face.
"Have you been stalking me?!" Hearing her accusation, Kai placed his hand on his chest dramatically—as though he was overly hurt by what she had said. However, he did not utter a single word, wanting to push her buttons.
Ayesha fumed with rage the moment that he gave her nothing but a silent smirk. "How dare you show your face to me! After wrecking my family?! You son of a—!" Before she could curse him, a car pulled up next to them. As soon as she realized who it was, her heart dropped to her stomach.
She clenched her fists, gritted her teeth, and glared at the woman before her, the very same one who had given birth to her, and the one that had abandoned both her husband and daughter.
"Kai, why didn't you answer my call?!" Her mother hissed at Kai, ignoring her completely.
"You seriously never planned on apologizing?" Ayesha's voice cracked as she muttered those words.
"Ugh." The woman scoffed, rolling her eyes as she did so. "You still haven't moved on?" She spat back.
Ayesha started to tear up when she heard her mother's response. There was not a hint of remorse in her voice. She refused to break down in front of the people that she despised the most—steadying her breath to calm herself down.
"You committed infidelity with this guy—who's the same age as me!" She finally took the chance to gather up her courage, and confronted the two.
"He made me feel loved!" Her mother argued, raising her voice.
"So did my father!!!" Ayesha retaliated.
It was silent for a moment. All you could hear was the sound of the flickering street lights around the bus stop. Then, she spoke once more.
"...and yet… You chose to leave us for this manwho—"
"Do not call him that!" Her mother cut her off, seeming offended when Ayesha was about to call Kai names.
"But that's what he is!" She cried, finally letting her tears fall from her eyes.
"I hate you. I hate both of you!" Ayesha emphasized before she ran away, sobbing.
