It seemed like it was still night, but I feel so refreshed 'shouldn't the sun be up by now?'
Roan was still asleep, Archer was gone and his sheets were scrambled, I took the time to ti-
'Hold on, didn't I do this before?'
I scurried over to Roan while trying to stop myself from hyperventilating, I was anxious for some reason
'Am I forgetting something?'
I wanted to gently wake up Roan but I instonctively slapped him across the face.
He woke and looked at me with a bewildered face, or well half asleep half surprised.
"Something is wrong, but I dont know what it is"
"Have you gone mental?"
"Huh?" What a burst of confidence, unexpected.
"It's the middle of the night and you are waking me up for a nightmare?!"
Well, uhh...
"Better safe than sorry, I have a bad feeling about something, my gut tell's me we are in danger"
"L-Listen I don't know if you are trying to scare me but I think its pretty obvious we are in danger, just- just let me sleep, okay?"
'Damnation!'
What do I do, what do I do... I was anxiously snapping my finger until an idea came to mind.
'It was something about a number... 10? No, that doesn't ring a bell, maybe 20? No, I'm just going in circles'
All I could remember was a splitting headache and a number, but what could the number mean?
"I'm gonna step outside, stay safe Roan"
...
No response, he is probably asleep.
When I got out of the room I scanned the surroundings for good measure, the place seemed creepy as it is but doesn't the wood seem a little more humid now? I couldn't see the roof but it did seem ominous...
I didn't plan on going to the third floor alone but staring at the door I felt attracted? No, repulsed by it and that piqued my interest, but I have no idea where Archer is.
It was subtle but there was a rustling sound coming from down below, most likely we had entered shallow water, in the worst case scenario something was passing by the ship.
The sound became distant and dissapeared altogether, I found myself sitting down infront of my door, I was on the precipice of remembering something, but it always seemed too deep to grasp, as if no matter how much I concentrated I couldn't remember.
Suddenly I felt a heartbeat that wasn't mine, but it wasn't a sound, it was a vibration, what was more eerie is that all sound ceased to exist for a second.
'Something's downstairs...'
I hurried back in my room and grabbed my knife, Archer had left his so I took it aswell.
"Roan wake up, for real now, something is downstairs."
"Huh? Wha-"
"Rhea and the others are in danger, pick up your knife and follow me."
Finally Roan took me seriously and got up, for a moment I saw a drop of sweat on his forehead.
And so we were infront of the gate, I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if I didn't check this I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight and of there really was something there I'd rather not get killed in my sleep.
"You sure about this dude?"
"Get ready, Roan."
I gulped and opened the gate revealing another eerie set of stairs, which were clean for some reason? There was no dust or look of humidity on them, as if they were brand new.
We descended and were met by an unnatural sight or well a horrible one, the room was completely silent as if the sound waves couldn't travel, there were 21 bodies, children skewered with stakes made of blood, the blood didn't seem natural though, it had a golden hue to it, barely noticable.
It looked like they were being bled out and had started shriveling up but, how? They were unresponsive, their blood was floating in the air and their expressions were stuck in place, in the center of the room there was a statue of a heart with a clock fused into it's aorta, it seemed like it was trying to pulsate? It looked horrific.
In the middle of the room there was a humanoid made of the, hold on... That thing... It seem's way too familiar, either way it wasn't good news, it was very slowly moving towards the stairs. It was made of a mush of blood, armor, cloth and flesh along with misplaced organs and torn veins.
I had an epiphany...
Time wasn't stopped but slowed, was it time? I don't really know, but the being was alarmingly fast to be so much faster than a droplet of blood falling onto the floor. Behind it, the heart seemed to have people fused into it? Yes, it had, I could see the face of one of the guards that kindly escorted me to this boat.
The clock on the heart hit the thirteenth hour and a blinding light emitted from it, blood splattered on the floor but the screams of the poor children were muffled by viscous blood.
The humanoid crashed into Roan at full speed breaking his ribcage and puncturing his lungs, it itself splattered on the wall and reformed a few seconds later, which gave me time to think of something
'How am I going to kill this thing? No, no, killing is out of the question, I have to run'
I bolted up the stairs, the creature was reforming and started readying up to attack me.
It lashed out aiming for my foot, I instinctively lifted my leg up but it caused me to fall face first onto the stairs.
My nose was bleeding profusely and I felt light headed, the world was spinning but I forced myself to crawl upwards.
The moment felt eternal but I managed to crack open the door and shut it behind me, my breathing was irregular and I felt like I was about to pass out, but I endured.
Everything was much more clear, I had been killed by this monstrosity before, somehow I am still here, alive and not so well.
As I was trying to catch my breath, unable to stand, a tendril pierced my abdomen and then retracted, rupturing my stomach.
'Gah'
It seems I messed up, hah.
With the little strength I had left I went towards the stairs, gushing blood across the floor.
I could feel my heartbeat getting slower but I needed to see what was above, I trust my gut, or what's left of it.
I Collapsed on the last few steps but I dragged myself and stood up reluctantly.
I cracked open the door to the main deck and fell down , as I stared up all I could see was...
An eye of gigantic proportions staring back.
It seemed like it was still night, but I feel so refreshed 'shouldn't the sun be up by now?'
