Chapter 97 - The Land Where Five Paths Entwine, Penacony

"I suppose it's about time."

Leon wouldn't possibly let him power up.

Just as he was about to make the old crow kneel.

He felt some sort of resonance and, sensing something, looked up.

The next second, the sound of something tearing through the air rang out!

A blue arrow cut through space and appeared in his vision, heading straight for him!

Smack!

Leon raised his hand and caught it.

He opened his palm and saw that the slender arrow had somehow turned into a strangely shaped bullet.

Leon, of course, knew what this was.

This was the "Counter-Time Strike."

The thing he had given to March 7th earlier.

"I knew there were plenty of north-south roads, nice and wide."

Leon had paid special attention to the location of the Grand Theater before entering.

Turns out it was right in the north. All roads lead to Rome, after all.

Isn't that just ridiculous?

Leon thought to himself that March 7th should be out of danger now.

Just as he was about to reuse the Counter-Time Strike, he felt something in his pocket grow warm.

Leon took the object out of his pocket.

It was the pocket watch, or rather, the compass, that Mikhail had given him.

Acting on intuition, he placed the Counter-Time Strike on the compass.

"The work of Enigmata?"

Then he saw the golden button on the compass, which had been motionless and purely decorative, suddenly light up. The button then popped up, as if signaling for him to press it.

Turning inanimate objects into living things, modifying reality and perception.

It seems Oblivion has made her move.

Penacony is in for a treat now!

"You're about to hit the jackpot, kid."

Leon said, pressing the button.

Of course, he knew what would happen when he pressed this button.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have said what he just did.

Rumble, rumble!

The roar of a train's engine suddenly echoed throughout this world!

The next moment, a complete, light-blue, phantom train answered the call and rushed over at incredible speed!

BANG BANG BANG!!!

"On the fourth day, I bestow..."

Before the words were even finished, the phantom Astral Express smashed right through the Embryo of Philosophy from behind, forcing the face and arms it had just raised back down again!

We are all trying our best to live!

Not bad. So this is what the complete Astral Express looks like?

Leon had only ever seen the half-dead front of the train on the game's loading screen.

Looking at this grand stroke of luck before him, he felt he had learned something new.

"Is it useful?"

A cold female voice drifted from behind him.

Then, the sky suddenly darkened.

Dark clouds gathered, and from them fell drops of blood-red rain.

"Rain of Sensation"

The work of Enigmata.

The seeds of Remembrance will also sprout in this rain.

The two accompany and generate each other, an inseparable relationship.

'The perfect harmony is disintegrating... I must end this quickly...'

So thought the "Dream Master" as he was drenched in the rain.

He felt the situation had become more than just a little tricky.

The 107,336 Family members who were originally one with him were now showing signs of falling apart!

Can you hear their cries of anguish?

Be it the power of Harmony or this Emanator body forged through synchrony.

They were all gradually slipping away from him!

That's why he hated Emanators of Remembrance or Enigmata so much!

Because of Penacony's nature.

Emanators of these two Paths have a natural advantage here.

Honestly, it's no different from smurfing.

"Wow, it really is you."

Hearing this voice, Leon turned around.

He saw Oblivion, holding an umbrella, slowly walking out from behind him along the path cleared by the Astral Express.

"Was the danger March 7th encountered really that great?"

He asked, once Oblivion had walked up beside him.

"Even you were stirred to action?"

Leon said, somewhat surprised.

From his observations.

Oblivion would only appear when March 7th encountered trouble she couldn't handle herself.

Under the precondition that March 7th was in peril.

Her appearance rate was 100%.

But whether she appeared at other times depended entirely on her mood.

Leon didn't think this was an ordinary time.

If that was the case, it had to be the former.

Oblivion shot him a cold glance.

"You should think about whose fault that is."

Her tone was frigid, her attitude toward him largely unfavorable.

March 7th's reliance on him had clearly reached an unimaginable level.

Oblivion had some regrets.

Sigh, I should have taught her some common sense back then. I knew I shouldn't have let him play this raising sim...

"So what?"

Leon had nothing to say to this kind of riddle-talker.

He could only reply with two words.

Do you know how useful "So what?" is?

"Once this is over, you'd better thank my March properly."

Oblivion snorted lightly, joining his side in the battle.

"Roger that." Leon typed "+1" in the parents' group chat.

"I invite you, Ena of Order!"

Feeling the growing turmoil within his body, the Dream Master gritted his teeth.

"You are about to witness the primordial genesis!"

He chose to skip the prelude and just go all out against the two of them!

"Hmph, I don't like being interrupted when I'm speaking."

Oblivion said, raising an index finger to her lips.

The next moment, the surging Memoria in Penacony intensified.

Inside the Embryo of Philosophy, the Dream Master felt the internal chaos instantly worsen. Not only was his summoning of Ena interrupted, but he almost coughed up a mouthful of old blood!

"Did I say you could move, you mediocre runt!"

After Oblivion made her move, Leon followed up with a shout.

"Kneel!"

As the word fell, the Embryo of Philosophy crashed face-first onto the ground, its hands falling obediently below the platform, just like the kowtow performed when meeting an emperor in ancient times.

The Dream Master was stunned.

A small combo of DPS and control. This psycho couple's combination attack is too terrifying!

"Watch and learn. From here on, it's all technique and execution."

With that, Leon drew the string of his hunting bow.

An Emanator-level energy output was revealed, clearly preparing to give the old crow a quick end!

"I'll fight you to the death!"

The Dream Master's plan had clearly fallen apart completely by now, with no hope of salvaging it.

He no longer had any reservations.

Since he had already failed, the Dream Master was going to go all out and take these two down with him!

He wanted the two of them and all of Penacony to be buried with him!

The three of them would die together! No one would get away!

"O Aeon of Order, I hereby call for your return!"

The Dream Master shouted internally.

He then relinquished control of this Emanator shell to the Stellaron that powered it, to the thing that held the purest consciousness of Destruction!

Using all of Penacony and the entire Stellaron as his wager.

The Dream Master summoned the presence of Ena!

RUUUMBLE!!!

The world shook!

The Rain of Sensation created by Oblivion dissipated.

The dark clouds fabricated by Enigmata were artificially parted.

Many golden feathers fell from the sky.

A massive, three-layered golden ring appeared high in the sky.

The Embryo of Philosophy suddenly rose into the air.

It was drawn to the empty space in the center of the ring.

Immediately after,

a face like a grim, dead mask with wide, feminine eyes, a massive halo above its head, possessing only a head and arms, with no torso.

The colossal being, whose tattered cloak seemed to be its entire body, slowly descended from the golden ring.

—The Aeon of Order, Ena!

Briefly resurrected using the body of the "Embryo of Philosophy"!

Even though this shell was merely an Emanator's.

The might displayed by Ena through it was far beyond that of an Emanator!

Unfortunately, the two It faced could both be considered agents of the Aeons they represented.

They certainly wouldn't fear a being that had already been devoured and died!

"You're already dead, so stop getting in the way!"

The sound of an arrow tearing through the air echoed to the heavens!

"Go back to your coffin, you old relic!"

A phantom of Lan materialized behind Leon.

The Aeon of The Hunt enters the battle!

"No one can destroy March 7th's future."

The crackling sound of ice crystals forming was accompanied by a sudden drop in the surrounding temperature.

"Not even an Aeon!"

A transparent phantom of Fuli appeared behind her.

The Aeon of Remembrance enters the battle!

Three Aeons, none of them the real beings, faced off against each other!

Although none were the genuine article, one could see the profound power of the three combatants!

"We rise together as our destiny unfolds"

As the beautiful song began to play.

Everyone present could clearly sense it.

The only genuine Aeon had arrived.

Xipe cast Its gaze upon this place.

And infinitely embraced these three Paths displaying their might in Its domain!

What was Amphoreus, the battleground of three Paths?

The Hunt, Remembrance, Order.

Today, Penacony was the site of a three-Path deathmatch!

Harmony, Trailblaze.

And the viewing ground for two other Paths!

"We face the darkness and our trials are yet untold"

Leon looked up, following the music.

"Through the shadows of despair"

Robin, awakened from Ena's dream, stood on a high platform, channeling the voice of Harmony.

The cosmic singer, truly worthy of her reputation!

"Help me, Mr. Ranger, save my brother!"

Everyone else only heard the song.

"I'm begging you!"

But Leon received a request in his ear that was almost a plea.

Within Robin's perfectly harmonious music, the single note of discord was directed at only one person.

Her brother had already revealed his entire plan to her.

He wanted to create a paradise belonging only to mortals!

The return of the Aeon of Order was absolutely not part of his plan!

"What do you say?"

Leon withdrew his gaze from the little crow and looked at Oblivion.

"Anyone who wants to destroy March 7th's future is my enemy."

Oblivion showed no intention of backing down.

"Then step aside. I'll handle It."

Leon's intuition told him that Oblivion didn't want to expose herself—neither her power nor her identity—to the public eye.

"Don't worry, anyone who messes with my girl's future is my enemy, too."

"Who's your girl?"

Oblivion glanced at him.

Although she didn't answer directly, she chose to accept his good intentions.

The phantom of Fuli dissipated.

Holding her umbrella, she began to watch from the sidelines.

"So what?"

Being a god is just the price of admission to fight me. Don't think you can do whatever you want just because you're a big shot.

"After I take care of Order, remember to pick up that pilot from the beginning."

Leon accepted the little bird's request.

Sunday's judgment should be left to the people of Penacony.

Right and wrong, they can decide for themselves.

Sunday didn't create injustice, nor did he create oppression.

This clearly wasn't his business.

Besides, there were probably very few among this crowd who actually wanted to wake up from the dream.

He, on the other hand, was just making a thankless effort.

If it weren't for Mikhail's last wish.

He probably wouldn't even want to get involved.

He didn't want to use his "What does my saving you have to do with you?" philosophy on this group of people who were willingly drowning themselves.

Of course, he could ignore everything else.

But the Dream Master, that old crow, had to die.

This was the most important objective of his trip.

Disloyal, unkind, unjust, and unfilial—he was all of them. He deserved to be killed!

Oblivion nodded.

She didn't speak, but it seemed she agreed.

Leon also nodded.

Then he drew the string of his hunting bow, and the phantom of Lan did the same with the longbow in its hands.

Ena had no reaction, just uttered obscure and difficult-to-understand words.

[Without rules, nothing can be accomplished.]

As Ena spoke, Leon could feel a palpable restraint placed upon him.

"I give you an inch and you take a mile?"

The next moment, the phantom of Lan made a slight motion to break free.

The newly applied restraint debuff was instantly and forcibly cleared by sheer power!

You're not the real Aeon, just an Emanator. What are you pretending for!

"Are you the dead one, or am I?"

Leon wasn't going to take this crap. Believe it or not, I'll send you flying!

You like playing these games, huh? He'll play along!

He immediately defined the "good word" of his superpower as "living" and the "bad word" as its opposite, "dead."

"Kneel!"

He was a living person, so naturally, he used the logic of the living.

It didn't even need to be spoken—a natural pecking order!

Ena's form plummeted!

One second It was a high and mighty god, the next It was a pathetic, stray dog!

Its face made intimate contact with the platform Leon was standing on!

It lay prostrate on the ground.

Kneeling just as he had commanded!

In the entire universe, you absolutely couldn't find a second person like Leon who could treat Order as nothing.

To beat Ena in a control contest, you're on another level!

"We are all trying our best to live."

Leon aimed his hunting bow at Its head.

The phantom of Lan did the same, the purple light-arrows on both their bows already poised to fire!

"What I mean is…"

Leon released the bowstring, and the purple light-arrow shot out from a distance where it was impossible to dodge!

"You struggle with all your might, while I live with ease."

The phantom of Lan's will merged with his, and the light-arrows on both their bowstrings were released at the exact same moment!

A direct hit on Ena!

BOOOOOOM!!!

The dazzling purple light was like a dying star!

An energy burst far exceeding that of an Emanator continuously swept over everything around it!

Xipe intervened to protect the others from the blast!

The raw power of The Hunt tore Ena's body apart piece by piece. After three minutes of high-intensity energy bombardment, the assault finally began to weaken!

The fabricated facade was stripped away.

Ena revealed Its original form.

The vessel that had carried Its descent—that is, Sunday.

"The night is still... too short..."

After several twists and turns, the exhausted Sunday lost consciousness.

He lost his balance and fell from the platform, like Icarus from the myth.

"Brother..."

Without a moment's hesitation, Robin leaped down after him.

"It's time for the dream to end."

She passed through the dream's facade of the Harmonious Choir to embrace her real-life brother.

The siblings shared a final farewell before a long journey.

Two hearts that had been drifting apart finally found reconciliation at this moment.

Leon watched the two of them fall.

The phantom of Lan also dissipated from behind him.

He didn't bother with the siblings.

After all, a bird won't die from a fall.

Instead, he turned his head to look at Oblivion.

Oblivion was holding a Memory Bubble that had appeared out of nowhere,

She swayed the Memory Bubble slightly toward Leon, indicating that the Dream Master was inside.

"You've been slacking off for so long.

Leon said to someone who wasn't present.

"It's time you made yourself useful. You think I'm raising you for free? Believe it or not, I'll send you to the The Xianzhou Luofu to work!"

Just as his voice faded.

Phantylia, who always takes a break whenever a fight starts, reluctantly appeared in his line of sight, holding a Stellaron.
