Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: A Vow of Vengeance

Sasha gritted her teeth, wanting to break these stupid chains that were biting into her arms. Her stomach was an empty hollow that ached with pain.

It all hurt so bad that she wanted to cry, but she wasn't going to give these bastards such pleasure.

They thrive on fear.

So instead of fear, she will provide them with her anger.

'What did I have to lose? I was already in a losing situation. If I were to die, it would be on my terms, not that stupid script!'

'I'd rather go out with a bang than give these bastards the satisfaction of victory!'

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Sasha snapped, glaring straight into Elena's wide, silvery eyes.

Elena blinked, surprised by Sasha's outburst.

"You do nothing but whine and cry, sitting on your ass while others suffer."

Sasha spat.

"Yeah, I stabbed you, but you are still alive. So get over it!"

Sasha shouted right in Elena's face. Before the echo of her words could fade, Bran disappeared from his seat.

With the superhuman speed that all vampires are known to possess, he appeared before her and backhanded her across the room. Pain instantly exploded through her face.

The slap alone felt as if he had shattered her jaw.

The pain was unbearable, but so was the anger building in her chest. Sasha held back her tears. No matter how much she wanted to cry.

She refused to do so.

Even as her eyes stung, and the world tilted around her.

Pushing back the scream that scrawled up her throat. Sasha glared at the ground and silently sat upright.

'Even if my limbs are bound, I will face them head-on.'

'I will not cry.'

'I will not show fear.'

She spat out the blood clogging her mouth, eyes, and poise filled with defiance.

"And this goes to all you bastards in your high throne chairs!"

Sasha lifted her head, glaring at the monsters who stared down from their ornamental thrones as if she were nothing more than an insignificant ant.

Her defiance was nothing but a joke to them-it was evident in their smirks.

They knew they were stronger.

They knew even without those chains that bound her.

She would not win in a fight against them.

'I hate it. I hate it so much!'

Sasha bit down hard on her lips, the taste of blood sharp on her tongue, because this fact was sadly right.

Unknown to Sasha, Cynthia was the first to notice a change within the human criminal.

At first, she mistook the trembling in the girl's shoulders for sobs.

But when that young child lifted her head and glared at them.

Those eyes burn like molten fire.

It was in that instant that Cynthia realized the truth.

'The trembling wasn't fear. It was pure rage.'

Cynthia stared, fascinated by the bright red aura that flickered to life and outlined Sasha's body.

The glow pulses to life like a raging flame.

That wasn't the only odd thing to stand out.

Sasha's once-brown eyes had turned the color of a burning ember, and her long, reddish-brown curls shifted into shades of molten ruby.

She was like a bright flame standing defiance against them.

'This child is not normal!'

For the first time in hundreds of years since she has lived.

A flicker of fear stirred in Cynthia's heart.

She wasn't the only one shocked by the girl's sudden transformation. Every council member sat frozen, their cold poise shattered.

Having watched the plain human girl whom they dismissed, transformed, and what now stood in her place was something beyond their comprehension.

Sasha paid no attention to their shocked expressions.

She glared at the beautiful but cruel monsters seated in their lavish chairs, shooting her with cold or surprised looks.

The chains binding her trembled violently, clinking and rattling as if they, too, were threatened by her rage.

"You bloodsucking bastards!"

Sasha screamed, her voice raw with fury. All her pain and despair poured out, blazing into words that scorch the air.

"You indulge in your riches, feasting on our blood like personal fine wine! You beat, use, and mistreat us!"

Sasha's voice began to crack, but she pushed on, loud and fierce.

"You call us lowly insects, but look at yourselves! You're nothing but beasts in beautiful masks, who take pleasure in our pain. Thinking that you are gods, when you're nothing but cowards hiding behind power!"

Sasha spat blood onto the marble floor, breathing hard as she glared fiercely at them.

"You believe you are better than we lowly humans, but in reality."

Her bloody lips curled into a mocking smile.

"You're pathetic."

Sasha screamed in their face, not even flinching when those powerful, noble vampires bared their fangs. Their nails lengthened into claws, eyes glowing with murderous intent, all of which they aimed squarely at her.

In the shadow, the 'blood-pets' knelt frozen, staring at Sasha with disbelief on their faces.

Sasha saw this and laughed. Raw and Broken.

'They probably think I have gone mad, and maybe I did. I was going to die anyway.' She told herself.

"You're mad!"

Elena stumbled back from Sasha, as if she were staring at a crazy woman.

"And you're a dumbass!" Sasha fearlessly shot right back at her.

She drew in a deep breath. Ready to deliver her final words.

'I've been wanting to say these words for a long time, ever since I read that stupid book that did nothing but make me go mad with anger.' Sasha seethed.

Bran, who was shielding Elena behind him, looked just as angry as the other vampires in the room. When he took notice of that, his eyes wavered with disbelief.

'The chains binding this stupid blood bag… are beginning to break?' Bran couldn't believe his eyes.

Cracks rippled through the metal links, and before anyone knew it.

Sasha broke free.

"No way…" Bran stuttered in disbelief. "Those chains were made from adamantite-the strongest metal known to exist! Yet this pint-size human shattered them? Is she even human?"

Bran muttered and was skeptical of this human before them.

The pressure of these vampires' killer intent pressed down on Sasha like a mountain crushing her.

But she got to her feet, refusing to kneel any longer at their feet, letting her rage become her strength. She stood tall, meeting each of their furious gazes, each one madder than the next.

Especially the vampire standing behind the king.

Beings bulged at temples, and anger twisted his expression.

He was the image of a typical handsome vampire, with a lithe build, raven hair that fell around his perfect face, framing his sharp cheekbones and deep-violet eyes that gleamed with a murderous light.

He looked as if he wanted Sasha dead more than the others.

And Sasha met his anger head-on, refusing to turn away.

'But why the heck was he sporting glasses when vampires had perfect vision?'

Sasha wondered, only for her body to break out in hives. A sour churn of disgust rose in her chest.

'Just who is this guy to cause such a reaction from this body?'

Sasha pondered, but quickly pushed such thoughts aside, and welcomed their wrathful glares with a defiant smirk.

"I hope you sons of bitches rot in hell! I may be a human, but I swear on my blood and ashes: even if I am to die here today and become nothing but a vengeful ghost, nothing will stop me."

Sasha screamed at the female lead- a fake saint who reeked with sins; at the male leads who acted like mindless and cruel tyrants and only cared for the female lead while damning the rest of humanity under their rule; at the vampire council that treated humans like nothing but blood bags and personal entertainment.

"I never once considered myself a hero," Sasha spoke, voice raw. "But if I ever get the chance-"

She unsheathed her following words like a blade being drawn for battle, as not a sound was heard in the room

"I will kill you bastards myself."

The moment those words left Sasha's mouth, a glimmer of silver appeared before her, followed by blood-red eyes that glared at her.

It was Cassius who glared at her like she was a child throwing a pointless tantrum.

He didn't say a word. He simply moved, faster than thought, as steel split the air.

Pain tore Sasha, having now realized that Cassius was armed with his sword.

The blade sank into her stomach. Sasha's world tilted and darkened.

Before she fell, she saw Cassius standing over her, those crimson eyes burning with silent rage.

The sword in his hand glowed faintly, humming with power, and dripping with her blood.

"Insolent fool."

He muttered, and what greeted her next was darkness once again.
