Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Gluttony And Temperance

Beelzebub – the demon of Gluttony – exists like a bottomless abyss. Ever since he was born, he has felt an endless hunger in his body, which nothing can fill. He eats, he swallows, he steals both light and darkness, but that only makes the abyss inside him wider. Beelzebub fears himself, fears that one day, even the things he loves, the things he wants to hold on to the most… will be swallowed by that hunger.

On the battlefield, he is like a giant black storm, each crazy swing of his axe seems to want to tear the whole world apart, as a way to forget that hunger. He uses the violence and ferocity of war to fight against the black hole that is devouring his reason from within. But deep down, he yearned for something very small: for someone to look at him without fear, someone who could satisfy his hunger, his thirst, to exist without worrying that he would swallow everything.

Facing him, Raphael – the angel of Temperance – was like a mirror full of contradictions. She was the embodiment of balance, of restraining reason, the chain that bound the dark desires of the heavens. But ironically, Raphael did not know how to restrain herself. In her heart, an uneasiness grew: her sisters – Gabriel, Metatron – were gradually trembling before the opposing demons. She was afraid when she found herself unable to stop them, even more afraid when she realized that her own heart was beginning to tremble before a figure on the battlefield.

When her eyes first met Beelzebub, Raphael was stunned by what she saw. In those eyes, there was not only the brutality of darkness, not only the black hole that swallowed everything, but also a trembling fear, like a child who could not control his hands. She saw clearly, each of his slashes was not only violence, but also a scream: "Please stop me, please don't let me destroy everything."

Beelzebub, on the other hand, was also shaken by Raphael's light. Her eyes were clear, but behind them was hidden a heavy chain. She restrained everything, compressed everything, so that even her breathing seemed to be imprisoned. And he realized: Raphael, a person of restraint, was like him – unable to escape the chain that bound him.

In a brief fight, when Raphael's blade pressed down on Beelzebub's demonic greatsword, they stood so close that they could hear each other's breathing.

Beelzebub whispered hoarsely, as if confessing to himself:

— I fear… I will swallow you whole.

Raphael was startled. An angel was not allowed to listen to the words of a demon, but her heart trembled at the exposed weakness. And in that moment, she saw clearly that she was afraid too: afraid that one day, she would no longer have the strength to stop herself from growing emotions.

She replied softly, as if sighing:

— I fear too… that I cannot stop myself.

Two individuals, one tormented by endless hunger, the other chained by absolute restraint, saw themselves in each other. Neither of them knew what it was—sympathy, pity, or a forbidden love that was blossoming. But in that moment, both darkness and light cracked, revealing a fragile gap where love blossomed like a tiny seed in a storm.
