Chapter 24 - Chapter 1: Birth of the Dragon and evolution into a reader

[This is a narrative thread external to the main story. This thread is completely external and separate from that plot… unless]

Error404_: I decide to make the protagonist watch these threads from the outside —laughs malevolently and I don't even know why— well, let's continue. Though my reader did write a good story.

I snap my fingers, and the narrative thread begins.

Kitty is an anthropomorphic dragon who spent 14 years inside an egg before being born. In her species, that is unusual, even among dragons, since most hatch much earlier. Some believe that the abnormal time she spent inside the egg left something special in her… something that no one fully understands yet.

From the moment she emerged from the egg, her life was marked by absence. She never met her real father. Before Kitty could even learn how to speak, he had already disappeared from her life.

As time passed, her mother remarried another dragon who had a 16-year-old son. At first, Kitty thought that maybe this meant she would finally have a family… but reality turned out to be very different.

Her stepfather was a cruel man.

He was the type of person who punished every small mistake with blows, yelling, or insults. To him, Kitty was always doing something wrong: if she talked too much, if she talked too little, if she broke something by accident, or even if she was simply in the wrong place.

Over the years, those abuses left invisible scars on Kitty's mind. She developed a deep fear of shouting, insults, and arguments. Whenever someone raised their voice near her, her body reacted automatically with trembling and anxiety.

Her stepbrother didn't make things any easier.

He had an unpleasant attitude and often made uncomfortable comments or strange questions directed at Kitty. Many of those things she didn't fully understand, but she could feel that something about those words wasn't right.

However, the worst part wasn't just his comments.

Her stepbrother enjoyed inventing rumors about Kitty and spreading them among others. Lies that slowly began to change the way people saw her.

Her mother, the one person who should have protected her, never realized what was happening.

She worked day and night, almost without rest, trying to keep the household running. She spent so much time away that she never saw the hell her daughter was living inside her own home.

Kitty grew up learning a bitter lesson far too early:

Not all kind words mean something good.

Sometimes her stepfather spoke to her with apparent sweetness, using soft phrases or empty promises… but behind that facade there was always manipulation.

Over time, Kitty learned to recognize when someone wasn't sincere. Though that ability didn't make the pain disappear.

In her home, mockery and humiliation became part of the daily routine. To avoid trouble, Kitty began thinking carefully about every word she said. Sometimes she preferred to stay silent for hours, convinced that a single wrong phrase could provoke punishment.

School wasn't a refuge either.

Because of the rumors invented by her stepbrother, many students began seeing her as someone problematic or strange. The few people who tried to talk with her ended up being bothered or harassed by others.

Little by little, everyone began to keep their distance.

For a time, Kitty believed she had found a friend, someone she could talk to without fear.

But that friendship also broke apart when the lies eventually reached her.

Since then, Kitty has lived with the feeling of being completely alone.

She doesn't know what it feels like to have a family that hugs you, nor the warmth of a home where someone waits for you with affection.

Because of that, Kitty developed a strong desire for affection and attention. When someone shows her even a little kindness, she tends to become attached easily, walking close to that person as if afraid they might disappear.

Despite all the pain she has lived through, Kitty hasn't become a cruel person.

Deep in her heart there is still a small hope:

the hope that someday someone will truly see her… and not walk away.

Maybe, somewhere in the world, there exists someone capable of teaching her for the first time what a real family means.

And although Kitty still doesn't know it…

dragons that remain too long inside their eggs are rarely ordinary dragons.

Something inside her…

is still waking up. ?
