Chapter 7 - Another Little Thing

The iron gate of the Voss estate creaked as it opened. Silvara stepped out first, her stride steady, while Lucas followed half a step behind, like a naughty kid being escorted by a homeroom teacher.

The air outside felt different—chilly evening mixed with dusty village roads. On both sides, passing villagers stopped instantly. Their stares pierced, some hurriedly

lowering their heads, others whispering.

"Eh, that's… Young Master Voss…"

"He's out again? Yesterday he already caused shame…"

"Shh! Don't be loud, he might hear…"

Lucas could hear, clearly. But he only drew a deep breath. His heart was prepared. A minus nine-million reputation wasn't fake—if people here didn't sneer, that would be the strange part.

Silvara stayed cold, pretending not to hear the whispers. But her eyes flicked briefly at Lucas, as if waiting for him to lash out or cause trouble. Lucas instead gave a thin grin.

"Relax, relax. The chatter of commoners is worthless," he said, pretending to be cynical.

Their journey continued. The rocky path led them past broken fences, wild shrubs, until finally stopping before a barren piece of land.

Empty… and depressing.

The soil was hard, full of dry cracks. Weeds stuck out wildly, small holes like animal claw marks dotted the surface. In one corner, a shallow irrigation ditch was clogged with mud and branches. In short, this land was better suited for a grave than a field.

Lucas stood dazed for a few seconds, then crouched as if serious. His hand touched the ground, pinching a bit of soil, though in his heart there was only one line: I'm still a farming noob in modern times, let alone in medieval times like this. Damn, is this soil or cement?

Silvara folded her arms. "Don't tell me you want to build a brothel here??"

Brothel? he thought angrily.

Lucas coughed, pretending to focus. "Silence… I'm thinking!" he snapped.

Silvara clicked her tongue with irritation.

"Tch… what could a useless man like you possibly do?" She walked a bit away and leaned her back against a tree, arms crossed.

"Oi, System, how do I trade progression points?" Lucas muttered quietly.

[DING!]

[Alright, the System will now open the Exchange menu.]

(☞゚ヮ゚)☞

[Come on, Host, pretending to be busy is enough. Time to click the exchange button.]

Lucas gave a stiff smile. "Okay… open the Exchange panel now."

A transparent panel unfolded in the air, text scrolling quickly.

[Exchange – 1 Progression Point available]

- Mini Hoe (Common) – Basic tool, makes soil easier to loosen. Bonus: -10% stamina on light physical work.

- Soil Test Strips (Common) – Can check soil pH and moisture. Info = strength.

- [Fast-Growing Seed Pack (Uncommon – First Exchange Promo: 1 PP)] – Host can choose one type of fruit seed. Faster harvest, but requires daily disciplined care.

Lucas stroked his chin like a sage, though his head was empty. "Hmm… seems like everything is important…"

From afar, Silvara stared at him. "What is he planning now? Don't tell me he's about to do something perver—"

Meanwhile, Lucas crouched and examined the soil, chuckling faintly because he thought of a good plan, his back shaking slightly.

From a distance Silvara narrowed her eyes. She saw Lucian crouched, head lowered to the soil, lips moving as if holding something back.

"…Heavens. Don't tell me he's actually… doing that here?"

Disgust crept across her face. Truly revolting.

At the same time while Silvara judging him,

He stared at the panel. His mind was blank. Silvara still watched with deep suspicion, as if convinced Lucas was planning some lewd ritual in the middle of the field.

Lucas sighed. "Okay, System… if I buy seeds, can I harvest weekly?"

[DING!]

[Correct, Host. With daily care, weekly harvest is very possible.]

(⌒_⌒) [Wanna try?]

---

Lucas squinted. "What type of fruit makes sense here?"

The panel flickered, then words appeared enthusiastically.

[According to local market analysis, tomatoes sell well. Used by cooks, healers, even drunks mix them into drinks. Fast profit, low risk.]

Lucas stifled a laugh. Damn… even the System can be a business consultant.

"Alright, I'll trust you. Buy the fast-growing tomato seeds."

[DING!]

[Exchange successful. Fast-Growing Tomato Seed Pack (Uncommon) obtained.]

---

A purple glow shimmered in the air, forming a small seed pouch that gently dropped down. Lucas snatched it up right away and slipped it into the pocket of his slightly fancy shirt.

He stood, stretched his arms wide, and let out a long yawn.

"Fwaaah… with this, I can start right away tomorrow."

From a distance, Silvara scoffed in pure disgust.

"Using some kind of magical sex toy out in the open? Truly disgraceful."

She turned her face away.

----

The system panel flickered back to life in front of Lucas.

Text rolled across the glowing screen, lines shimmering with playful energy.

(✿◠‿◠) [See? I'm a useful assistant, right?]

Lucas gave a thin smile. "Yeah… even if you like to mock me, you still help."

His fist clenched slightly. "If it weren't for you, I'd probably be even more stressed right now."

The System flashed a silly emoticon:

(v•^•v) [Happy to help, Host~]

He let out a long breath, gazing at the barren land full of weeds. Now, at least, there was one reason to begin—small seeds, a small start. But in this world… even tomatoes could become a gamble for his survival.

He chuckled, because it matched his plan of compounding little things. Starting with disciplined farming might actually be more useful—after all, in modern life, he had always enjoyed tending a garden.
