Chapter 55 - Tied up

Match 1 players: Bandeer; Lior; Nyra; Zairen; Todor

Match 2 players: Raine; Brielle; Oli; Havel; Amelia

Match 2 will be held after match 1.

Referee No.1: So now that all players are ready, let's head outside and start the first match!

Outside there stands a rather big makeshift which's only purpose is to play Blind Bet with. Its walls are open, and will close when all players are in the gamezone and ready to start the game. After that, every space that is not empty, so all five of it with the players will be lifted into different heights, just to make sure that no communication is possible between them.

Bandeer: This thing is massive.

Referee No.1: Now I need to ask all the players participating in the first match to select a space they prefer to spend the next 22 minutes while playing this game. There is no difference between the rooms, everything is the same.

Everyone is in place, to the right of Todor, there is Bandeer.

Bandeer: Are you ready, Todor?

Todor: What are you planning?

Referee No.1: Are all the players ready?

Bandeer & alliance: Yes!

Todor: So are you guys switching sides?

Amelia: No! That can't be! Why would they?

Bandeer: Bitch! You are just a spectator right now, so shut up!

Referee No.1: Everyone stop it right now, the game starts now!

The walls start to close around the players. Bandeer is having a good time.

Bandeer: How does it feel, Todor? Kukukuku- The walls closed, not even a single sound could be heard from outside

Each room separatedly being lifted now by the engine of the makeshift.

It's pitch black for a few moments before the monitor turns on, giving enough light to see. The cards are on the small, built-in table, exactly two of each value card from 1 to 5, adding up to 30.

And finally the card reader you need to throw your cards in order to bet.

The monitor dings, signaling the start of the first round, showing also a timer how much time you have left to bet.

Todor: So this is it. This set up is very limiting. I will bet nothing.

While outside.

Amelia: What do you mean everyone is against Todor now? You are lying!

Oli: Sorry, but you know, you can switch sides as well.

Amelia: The hell! I won't!

Oli: As I thought, that's why we didn't ask you in the first place.

Amelia: No that's not why. You still fear Todor, that if he would have figured out the alliance earlier then he could have dismantled it!

Oli: SHUT UP! YOU ARE---

Brielle steps between them.

Brielle: Stop, Oli! Don't let it take over.

Oli: sigh. You are right. we should rather... work out a strategy then in the given time.

The first round has ended, the results:

Bets:

Bandeer: 0 value (remaining: 30)

Lior: 10 value (remaining: 20)

Nyra: 0 value (remaining: 30)

Todor: 0 value (remaining: 30)

Zairen: 0 value (remaining: 30)

Winner: Lior!

Round 2 starts now.

Todor: A 10, and 0 from everyone else. Have they come up with something that makes it mathematically impossible to win? I need to start testing right now.

Test what? The only thing in the room is the monitor and the card reader. The monitor is not interactive and it's against the rules to break it, so what about the card reader?

Todor: Let's insert a one value card, see what happens exactly...

The card reader turns on as Todor puts the card in.

Todor (it vibrates. I need to test something else)

Todor picks up a card valued 2 and rips it as perfectly into half as he can and tries to insert it to the card reader. The machine takes the ripped card in as the time runs out.

The second round has ended, the results:

("WB" stands for: "Winner Bets")

Bets:

Bandeer: 0 value (remaining: 30) (WB:0)

Lior: 0 value (remaining: 20) (WB:1)

Nyra: 10 value (remaining: 20) (WB:1)

Todor: 2 value (remaining: 28) (WB:0)

Zairen: 0 value (remaining: 30) (WB:0)

Winner: Nyra!

Round 3 starts now.

Bandeer: Todor has bet 2? Kukuku- What is he up to? The plan goes perfectly as planned Kuku- The next one to bet 10 will be Zairen. Wonder if Todor will try to outbet him Kukukuku~

....

Todor: It's interesting. So the half of an X value card is worth X/2. Probably would work with also by ripping the card to thirds or four parts. This could be a great way to abuse the rules, probably that was the intention, but against an alliance like this and considering my situation it's pretty much a useless information.

...

In the main hall the five other players are watching the match live on TV, with referee No.1 being there too.

Referee No.1: Ohoo! So many live viewers! This might be a record!

Havel: Of course! Seeing someone like Todor losing in live is not an everyday event! Hahaha!

Amelia: Hah you guys actually think he will just lose is crazy.

Havel: Just open your eyes! Do you even see how impossible a situation he is in?

Amelia: Yeah? I thought you all knew that Todor already did some stuff we all thought impossible while here in the BWCG.

Oli: But this is different...

Amelia: Oh you say so? Tell me then, how?

Oli: Todor is the kind of man who has always dominated without almost any effort. It's not the case now, he didn't think that all the other 4 players could team up against him with such a perfect plan and execution. He also never was at a disadvantage, he doesn't know how it feels to be this low, he is inexperienced in it! YOU HEAR ME? This is the first time for him to feel like there is just no way out and this is also... a truly perfect strategy that cannot be countered!

Amelia: Wowow stop, you were almost going crazy so calm down. We will see what will happen, okay?

Oli: If you don't believe in me, maybe you will to Todor himself.

Amelia: What are you saying now?

Oli as he points to the TV: He seems pretty hopeless.

.....

Todor: Hmm... If I had to guess, 3 of them are doing a repeated 10 bets alternately between each other, that would be enough for 9 turns and in the last the one who has not betted any yet so far will bet all his 30. That's uncounterable. So what's now? Do I just...

LOSE?
