POV: Madison (Cheerleader)
Madison slammed her locker door so hard it echoed down the empty hall. Her reflection glared back at her from the metal surface. Flushed cheeks, perfect hair slightly out of place, mascara threatening to run.
Don't cry. Don't you dare cry.
She'd replayed the image again and again since leaving the training room. Ethan's hands on him. Their kiss. The way they'd jumped apart when she walked in, guilt written all over both their faces.
The betrayal sat in her chest like broken glass.
Her phone buzzed. Brittany: Where are you? Practice in 10.
Madison took a breath, fixed her hair, reapplied her lipstick. The girl in the mirror looked perfect again. Composed. In control.
He doesn't get to break me.
Her throat burned. It wasn't supposed to be possible. Ethan was hers. Had been for over a year. They were supposed to be the perfect couple, captain and head cheerleader, the relationship everyone envied.
And that new boy had taken everything she'd built.
