Chapter 66 - Chapter 66 Highway Chase

Zhang Jie was very glad that he had held onto the handrail tightly from the start, so he was fine.

However, the two guys in front were bounced hard by the airbags, and Jin Kaide was furious with embarrassment.

He shot and blew up the airbag in front of him, then pointed his glock at Michael, threatening him to get out of the car.

"Damn it, your driving is as bad as your plan! This is the shittiest ride I've ever had!"

"Now, get the hell out of the car immediately! Or I'll shoot you dead!"

Michael knew he was in the wrong and could only get out of the car silently.

Zhang Jie suddenly reminded him, "Hurry, time is running out…"

Jin Kaide directly climbed from the passenger seat to the driver's seat. After Michael got into the car, he said he was just not paying attention, but Jin Kaide ignored him.

However, since they were preparing to depart for the Hague International Court, Michael made a call to Emilia.

After the call connected, Michael's mouth started rambling again.

"Um, Emilia, I'm so sorry, I was wrong. I'm very sorry for blaming you for the failure to protect Heize… It was my fault, I blamed everything on you, that wasn't fair, you deserve to be treated better…"

Emilia was dumbfounded, "Bro? What are you doing?"

"Shouldn't you be telling me where you are right now?"

"What kind of mistake are you admitting?"

"Were you possessed by something dirty?"

Emilia, unable to bear it any longer, exploded again, "Why are you telling me this now?"

"Uh, I think now is a good time."

Zhang Jie, sitting in the back, glanced at his watch and said expressionlessly, "25 minutes left…"

Jin Kaide glanced in the rearview mirror, "We're being followed!"

Then he spun the steering wheel and drove onto another road.

Meanwhile, Michael was still building up the courage to confess his feelings.

"Emilia… I…"

The little Ford sped through the streets, and only then did Michael say, "I just wanted to say…"

Looking at such a hesitant Michael, Jin Kaide and Zhang Jie were almost dying of impatience. Both couldn't help but lean closer, their mouths almost touching the phone.

Both their mouths were forming the same words: I… love… you… Jin Kaide, who was driving, didn't notice the stone pillar ahead, and when he finally caught a glimpse of it… Bang!

They had already crashed into it.

Michael, sitting in the passenger seat, was propelled by inertia directly through the front windshield, doing a front flip and landing on the road, looking utterly bewildered.

"God! Gezerdie!! Why is it always me!"

Zhang Jie and Jin Kaide, meanwhile, were huddled together, looking at Michael through the broken hole, dumbfounded… Jin Kaide stifled a laugh, "What about all those safety belt lectures you always give?"

Zhang Jie glanced behind him and roared, "F*ck! Get in the car now!"

Michael quickly leaped through the large hole he had just broken and squeezed back in.

"What's going on?"

Jin Kaide and Michael dared not underestimate Zhang Jie now; every time Zhang Jie said there was a problem, a problem would surely arise.

"Stop talking nonsense, drive!"

Jin Kaide slammed on the accelerator. Almost the instant he did, a black Mercedes-Benz behind them accelerated sharply, the window rolled down, and the barrel of an MP5 submachine gun emerged.

Da da da da—!

Bullets tore through the air, and the little Ford's rear window instantly shattered, sending fragments flying.

Michael instinctively ducked his head; a bullet grazed his scalp and embedded itself in the dashboard, sparking.

"Your intuition is spot on!" Michael said, convinced.

As for Emilia on the other end of the phone, she could only hear gunshots; she certainly didn't hear Michael's subsequent three words.

"Motherf*cker!"

Jin Kaide cursed, violently turning the steering wheel. The little Ford swerved in a dangerous arc on the highway, tires screeching against the pavement.

"They have more than one car!"

Zhang Jie growled, seeing two other modified Audis flanking them in the rearview mirror, gun muzzles flashing from their windows.

Bang bang bang!

Bullets rained down, clanging against the little Ford's body, and the rearview mirror was shot off.

"This crappy car isn't even bulletproof!"

Jin Kaide roared, pulling a glock 19 from under his seat. He rolled down the window, leaned halfway out, and returned fire while driving.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

His Shooting was precise and controlled, each shot aimed at the opponents' tires or hood.

However, the opponents were clearly well-trained, their cars deftly dodging bullets while maintaining unyielding suppressive fire.

"Reload!" Jin Kaide ducked back inside the car, quickly changing magazines.

Zhang Jie didn't waste the opportunity. He violently pushed open the car door, his body almost suspended outside the car, holding his glock with both hands, calmly aiming at the driver of the closest Audi.

Bang!

A headshot.

The out-of-control Audi instantly veered off the road, crashed into the guardrail, and rolled, exploding into a fireball.

"Nice!"

Jin Kaide grinned, simultaneously slamming on the brakes, causing the Mercedes-Benz hot on their tail to overshoot them unexpectedly.

"Now!" Zhang Jie growled.

Jin Kaide immediately yanked the steering wheel; the little Ford fishtailed, its rear slamming hard into the side of the Mercedes-Benz.

Boom!

The Mercedes-Benz lost its balance, flipped sideways, skidded off the highway, and crashed into the roadside farmland. Its fuel tank ruptured, instantly bursting into raging flames.

"One left!" Michael shouted.

The last pursuing black Toyota had clearly learned its lesson; it no longer clung close but maintained a distance, MP5s wildly spraying bullets from its windows.

Bang!

Bullets rained down, clanging against the little Ford's body, and the car door was riddled with bullet holes.

"Steady!" Zhang Jie roared, his right hand gripping the roof handle tightly, his left hand holding his glock, aiming at the Toyota's windshield.

Bang! Bang!

Two shots fired in quick succession; the Toyota's windshield instantly shattered, forcing the driver to slow down and dodge.

Seizing this opening, Jin Kaide gritted his teeth, controlling the almost out-of-control little Ford.

Zhang Jie looked at the car relentlessly chasing behind, holding his glock with both hands, and gently exhaled.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three consecutive shots!

A patch of blood erupted from the driver's seat of the trailing car, which then instantly lost control and crashed into a roadside utility pole. The hood was twisted and deformed, the fuel tank leaked, and gasoline flowed everywhere.

Boom—!

A violent explosion sent a wave of heat, and flames shot skyward.

Jin Kaide sneered, abruptly turning the steering wheel to make the little Ford drive in reverse. Seizing the opportunity, Zhang Jie and Michael leaned out and simultaneously opened fire on the car behind, suppressing its windows with bullets, preventing the opponents from returning fire.

Jin Kaide timed it perfectly, raising his glock and firing directly through the shattered windshield!

Bang!

A headshot!

The vehicle instantly lost control, crashed into the nearby guardrail, then flipped twice in the air, smashing heavily onto the ground. The fuel tank ruptured, and flames instantly engulfed the entire car body.

Silence finally returned to the highway, leaving only burning wreckage and acrid gunpowder smoke.

Michael gasped, looking at Zhang Jie, "How did you know they would catch up?"

Zhang Jie stared at the distant end of the highway, shrugging, "Intuition."

"Time is running out."

He glanced at his watch; only 12 minutes remained.

At the Hague International Court, everyone was present. Dukevich was also seated in the defendant's dock, and reporters were ready; all that was missing was Darius Jin Kaide.

Time on the wall ticked by minute by minute. Emilia also anxiously watched her watch.

"Can they make it in time?"
