Chapter 61 - Chapter 61 Kincaid Admits His Mistake

The few people who had just stood up and chatted for a bit turned around to look at the old Mercedes-Benz that was already burning.

Jin Kaide said, "It seems we're not very lucky; the car is gone."

Zhang Jie, who was about to respond, suddenly had a very strange feeling—that danger was imminent.

This feeling!

It was a crisis reaction!

Out of instinct, he directly lunged to the other side without any warning; his body's reaction was always faster than his mind's.

"W-what the f-?"

"F*ck, what are you d-..."

Zhang Jie's sudden, unprovoked action stunned the two people who were talking. Before they could figure out what was happening, the car behind them suddenly exploded.

The oil leak combined with the prolonged burning caused the pressure inside the car's fuel tank to reach its maximum, resulting in an instant explosion. The huge impact force directly sent Jin Kaide and Michael flying.

"Holy sh*t!"

"G-d! Again!!"

Both of them fell hard and were a bit dazed. Zhang Jie, who had already avoided it beforehand, watched the two wailing on the ground with a smile, then walked towards the car driven by the three gunmen behind him.

"Damn it, how did he know the car was going to explode?"

Jin Kaide apparently hadn't connected the explosion with Zhang Jie's sudden lunge to the side. You lunged, and then the car exploded—are you a prophet?

He had no idea that this was actually a subconscious action brought about by Zhang Jie's long-term trained crisis reaction.

In short, his body was always one step faster than his mind.

Michael, on the other hand, was furious.

He had wanted to say something earlier, and after the explosion, he became even angrier.

He simply couldn't understand how these guys had managed to follow them.

There were three people in this car: a top-tier 3A-level bodyguard, a top-tier assassin, and another assassin who was also skilled. From their interactions today, this guy was definitely a hidden master.

With just these three people, driving an old Mercedes-Benz, they had taken such a long, winding detour on the road, and yet they were still followed. Didn't this mean all three of them were idiots?

What the hell was going on?

Especially that explosion just now—luckily, they weren't inside the car, otherwise wouldn't they have been done for?

Looking distraught, Michael was about to speak when he suddenly saw a phone lying in front of him. He clearly remembered that Jin Kaide didn't have a phone on him. Where did this phone come from?

What the f*ck... In an instant, it was as if a light flashed through his mind.

The cunning frog keeps touching his belly!!!

In that moment, he understood how these guys had followed them. So he directly picked up the burnt phone from the ground and looked at Jin Kaide furiously.

"What is this? Is this your phone?"

Facing Michael's question, Jin Kaide said with a hint of smugness, "I probably found this on a dead mercenary."

After hearing this, Michael instantly felt a bit of a breakdown.

"You probably...?"

He quickly adjusted his emotions, then stared at Jin Kaide and said seriously,

"Don't you know they can track phones!" Michael then directly broke open the phone in his hand and took out the SIM card inside. "That's why my phone card is a virtual chip, so they can't track it!"

Seeing Jin Kaide's bewildered look, as if he didn't understand, Michael became even angrier. He pointed at the burning Mercedes-Benz and shouted loudly,

"My point is, your phone exposed our whereabouts!"

"We were f*cking driving in circles to avoid these people, and you, you f*cking had a tracker in your pocket, guiding them!"

Seeing Michael's extreme anger, Jin Kaide understood. He raised his hands slightly and said to Michael, "My fault."

"Your fault?" Michael's anger subsided a bit. "You have no idea how 21st-century technology works. I want to ask you, how have you managed to live this long?"

Jin Kaide also started to get a bit angry: "While you guys are wasting time planning, setting targets, and calculating, I can only do what's at hand first."

"What I do at hand is more useful than all your messy plans! Just like Zhang Jie, he always achieves efficient goals in the simplest way."

After hearing Jin Kaide's words, Michael was speechless.

In fact, he also felt that Jin Kaide was right, because he and Zhang Jie always solved the most complex problems in the fastest way.

Whether it was the gunfight in the safe house or the crude car theft, wasting even one second was a disrespect to their profession as assassins.

"Great, whatever you say, you're just so wonderful." Michael casually tossed the keys to Jin Kaide, letting him unlock his handcuffs.

Then he turned and walked towards the burning car behind them, while loudly complaining.

"I'm so f*cking happy, your methods are always better than mine."

As he spoke, he kicked the door of the Mercedes-Benz.

At this moment, Zhang Jie had already driven the dead men's car over to them: "Get in, though I don't know how far it can go."

They got in, one on each side, still bickering.

"You don't want this gun anymore?" Jin Kaide asked, holding the gun in his hand.

"No, it's yours. Take it and shoot me dead!" Michael looked dejected. This was probably the first time someone had openly criticized his efficiency, his plans, and his goals as a complete mess.

He felt as if his heart had been pierced.

"No, no, no, I'm going to use this gun to shoot you."

Zhang Jie glanced at the two of them. They were truly a bickering couple, sharp tongue against sharp tongue.

As they spoke, the rear compartment of the Mercedes-Benz suddenly exploded. Zhang Jie saw it and immediately knew something bad was happening. He stomped on the accelerator, and the van immediately sped away.

The Mercedes-Benz had ammunition in its rear, and after burning for so long, it was bound to explode.

As they sped past the Mercedes-Benz, Zhang Jie distinctly heard a few clinking sounds from behind.

"Gentlemen. Our car seems to have been shot. I don't know how far it can go. Let's pray to God now."

Zhang Jie cheerfully told them this unfortunate fact.

"God, perhaps he's too busy for us. It might be faster if we make a wish to Satan."

"F*ck, it's all your fault!" Michael rolled his eyes. Clearly, he knew very well who was responsible for their current predicament.

Listening to Michael's sarcastic remarks, Jin Kaide didn't humor him at all: "I'm an old man, what the f*ck do I know? I've been in prison for so many years, I don't understand any of this f*cking high-tech stuff, motherf*cker!"

"Alright, alright, both of you stop complaining. What's done is done and cannot be undone. Isn't it better to look forward? Instead of arguing here, why not think about what we might encounter next?"

Zhang Jie played the peacemaker, while also continuing to drive forward.

His only hope now was that this dilapidated van could last a little longer. He really didn't want to walk.
