Chapter 31 - The Tour

The campus looked brighter with Devin and Lucien walking through it, though the real light came from Anastasia and Patricia's antics. Students turned their heads, whispering, as the unlikely foursome passed — a picture of beauty, charm, and pure chaos.

Anastasia, practically bouncing at Devin's side, pointed toward a tall building. "That's the science wing. We have labs there, but honestly, half the time they feel like dungeons." She laughed lightly, flipping her hair. "Still, I think you'll like it. You seem… smart."

Devin's lips curved faintly. "I do enjoy a challenge. But I think the guide matters more than the destination." His words were polite, but his eyes lingered on Anastasia just long enough to make her face flush.

Patricia, walking ahead with Lucien, groaned dramatically. "Ugh, stop being smooth, Devin. You're making the rest of us look bad."

Lucien tilted his head, flashing his grin. "Oh, don't worry. I don't need to try that hard. You're already glaring at me like I've committed a crime, yet you haven't let go of my arm since the courtyard."

Patricia stiffened, then shot him a defiant look. "I'm keeping you in line. I can smell trouble on you from a mile away."

Lucien laughed, low and amused. "You're not wrong." He leaned closer, his voice dropping into a teasing whisper. "But something tells me you like trouble."

Patricia's lips twitched, betraying the faintest of smiles before she quickly looked away. "In your dreams."

"Every night," Lucien shot back smoothly, making her stumble for words.

Anastasia, oblivious to the tension brewing ahead, kept chattering happily to Devin. "Oh! And this is the garden. Best spot for studying, or for skipping class—though, um, I don't skip. Much."

Devin's gaze softened as he studied her. "It suits you. Peaceful. Bright. Full of life."

Anastasia blinked, caught off guard by the warmth in his tone. For once, she didn't know what to say.

By the time the sun began to set, the group had circled most of the campus. Their laughter and bickering echoed through the quiet paths, drawing jealous glares from passing students.

Finally, they arrived at Elise's dorm.

"This is us," Anastasia said, a little breathless, turning back to Devin. She tucked a strand of hair nervously behind her ear. "Thanks for… coming along."

Patricia smirked at her cousin, then turned to Lucien. "You two better not vanish without notice again. Next time, you're buying us lunch."

Lucien's eyes glittered with mischief. "Lunch? For the pleasure of my company, you should be the one buying me lunch."

Patricia rolled her eyes, but the corners of her lips betrayed her amusement.

Devin gave a small bow of his head, his voice calm. "Thank you for the company. It made the day… easier."

Anastasia practically melted.

The cousins waited until the girls disappeared inside the dorm before turning to one another. Lucien's smirk faded into something more serious.

"Shall we?" he asked quietly.

Devin nodded once, his silver gaze sharpening. "Yes. It's time we spoke to Davon."

With that, the angelic cousins turned away from the dorm, their steps measured as they made their way toward the looming presence of their older cousin.
