Chapter 3 - A desolate land.

A week had dissolved into the relentless march of time since the chilling news report. And now, Sky stood on that same desolate road, the evening air still, unnervingly so.

"So, this is the location, right? Nothing seems wrong here. But not even a single bird is flying in the area." His voice, a low murmur, was swallowed by the pervasive silence. Not a single living being stirred, an eerie quiet that felt profoundly wrong. He'd expected the absence of animals in this empty stretch, but this absolute stillness… it was unsettling.

"But anyway, I like this calm and silent road in the middle of a large field. There's no one here, except for the occasional passing vehicle. One thing is confirmed: that murder was done by some human. But why…?" His gaze, sharp and perceptive, caught on something glinting in the nearby bush. Bones. He lunged forward with impossible speed, a blur of motion that no human should achieve.

"Oh my God… it's human bone.… something disastrous is going on in this world now. I guess I need to be prepared." He dismissed the grisly discovery with a chilling detachment, his mind already piecing together a terrifying puzzle, the bones have biting marks of teeth penetrating to the bone deep inside.

"So one more thing is confirmed: whatever this thing is, I don't know it, but it definitely eats flesh, be it human or animal. It's not like this place doesn't have animals, but everything is getting devoured by that mysterious thing. And I'm sure of one more thing: it's not human, nor animal." His eyes swept over the landscape, where piles of human and animal bones formed small, macabre mountains which was thirty kilometers away from the roadside where people pass by. As one thing was confirmed it something else, but the thing that surprised him was how the investigators haven't able to find this, was that because it's thirty kilometers inside the barren land. It was too much confusion for Sky as he never encountered this type of terrifying place.

"I guess I need to get out of here. I'm feeling a little afraid, too. This silent place with multiple bones in front of me, plus it's getting dark. I hope whatever it is in this barren land just stays here. Don't get out of here." He glanced behind him at the vast, barren field, as if something was sucking the very life force from the ground because there once used to have green trees around the area with many animals there but currently it become a barren land with nearly no life around. It was suspicious as hell but Sky didn't understand why it didn't caught the eyes of the officials or probably they might get scared of the thing inside or probably it's too risky to be more effective.

The current environment in which Sky was walking calmly while observing was so terrifying that it might scare the shit out of a person. Because the sun had already set the night had evolved the area with chilling air with pungent smell was hovering like spirits, while the bones of many humans and animals were along the way making it terrifying for normal person to even stay. But Sky was calm even with this area filled with darkness and negative energy that might send someone's heart at heaven. It doesn't seems like a desolate land instead a cemetery of dead.

After some walking, Sky decided to leave this place. As for how he would escape this desolate place and reach home. He was no ordinary person. He possessed a power, a secret bestowed upon him by an incident.

Sky lifted his leg lightly, pushing off the ground with an abnormal force that left a small crater in the earth. He shot upward, hundreds of meters into the air, before rocketing towards his home at the incredible speed of a jet. Within mere minutes, he covered 330 kilometers, an astounding feat.

In a world reliant on technology for power and strength, Sky was an anomaly. His secret power was a burden, a responsibility he hadn't sought but now carried. He knew, deep down, that something abnormal was unfolding, and he needed answers before it was too late. Yet, a part of him resisted, wanting to avoid deeper entanglement.

He touched down discreetly, finding a secluded spot away from people's eyes he landed there before rushing towards his apartment. It was 7:15 PM. Sillia would definitely be angry.

The doorbell chimed.

"Hmm… did he return…?" Sillia looked towards the main door, her phone forgotten as she lay on the sofa. She opened it.

"Oh… so you've decided to return, huh? Where were you all this time? At your girlfriend's house?" Sillia's tone was edged with an adorable irritation.

"At least let me in first," Sky said calmly.

"No, first tell me where you were!"

"Ahh… with my friends. Now let me in," Sky replied, unperturbed.

"Like hell I believe you…" She snorted but stepped aside, allowing him entry.

"Okay, okay, no need to be angry. Here, I've brought something for you," Sky offered with a smile. Sillia's eyes lit up. She snatched the package—her favorite outdoor food—and tore it open.

"Wow… it smells so good!" Sillia exclaimed, her face beaming. She looked at Sky. "I guess I can forgive you once." Sky smiled faintly as he retrieved plates from the kitchen and served her the food.

Their lives settled into a comfortable rhythm. Days bled into month, and Sillia, shed her initial reservations, growing more open and comfortable with Sky, even sharing personal problems without embarrassment.

A year drifted by....

" It's been a year since Sillia moved here. I guess I'm quite comfortable with her as well," Sky mused. "I've heard many abnormal things happening lately, but fortunately, not in this area. "

Sillia, now sixteen and noticeably more mature, descended the stairs. She had celebrated her birthday with her school friends, and her figure had developed into a blossoming beauty beneath her loose, oversized shirt and hot pants.

"Hmm… in thoughts again, huh?" Sillia thought, before moving closer, settling beside him on the sofa.

"Hey…" Her voice, naturally sweet and pleasant, broke his reverie. She poked his cheek. Sky looked at her.

"Hmm… are you done using your phone, huh?" Sky asked directly.

"Yes… I'm bored with that small device. Now I wanna play with you, hehe." Sillia giggled. Sky smiled at her endearing playfulness.
