"I don't want to lay on your shoulder so I don't cause more damage to it," Valentina said as she laid on his chest.
"It's fine. I'm fine. Why are you crying though? It's not like I got hurt."
She chuckled in bewilderment through her tears. "Your shoulder literally has to be bandaged."
"Yeah, but it's really nothing. Like I said, I just need some whiskey, and I'll be fine."
She raised her head up, and looked at him.
"You don't need whiskey, you need painkillers."
"One and the same," he replied.
Valentina's eyes widened, as she searched his face to see if he was joking.
Luciano chuckled at her reaction, and then dragged his body into a sitting position.
"I don't want you crying anymore, okay?"
She exhaled heavily, her shoulders slouching along.
"I'll try. I just– I was scared."
"I know, baby. I'm sorry I put you in that position." His fingers reached out to stroke her face.
She closed her eyes, tilting her head to the side to rest in his palm.
