Chapter 228: The Principle of the Flying Thunder God Technique
At the residence of the Hokage's secretary, Chiba Megumi.
Li Yao sat on the sofa. On the table in front of him lay the massive Scroll of Seals, already opened. The first forbidden technique recorded on it was the Multi Shadow Clone Technique.
This jutsu was dangerous for ordinary people.
If one couldn't control their chakra output and produced too many shadow clones, even if those clones existed for only a second, the flood of memories returned to the user could cause severe mental trauma.
If they existed for too long, the mental backlash upon their dispelling could overwhelm even someone like Li Yao.
Only because Li Yao could selectively erase memories he didn't need was he able to maintain his clones for extended periods.
Naruto, however, didn't have the ability to erase shadow clone memories, yet he could still create a huge number of clones and continue fighting as if nothing happened.
It had to be said—Naruto's mind was terrifyingly tough and highly resilient, arguably unmatched in the entire shinobi world.
In terms of mental attributes, Naruto's talent was extraordinary.
Li Yao wasn't interested in the Multi Shadow Clone Technique and continued flipping through the scroll.
The Scroll of Seals recorded many forbidden jutsu, most of which had severe side effects when used. Others were jutsu that were extremely difficult to master and too valuable to be leaked outside.
Li Yao skimmed through quickly. The only jutsu that caught his interest were the Flying Thunder God Technique, Edo Tensei (Reanimation Jutsu), and the Tandem Explosive Tags Technique.
Coincidentally, all three jutsu were developed by the Second Hokage, Tobirama.
More interestingly, all of them were based on the principles of the Summoning Technique, belonging to the same jutsu lineage.
Li Yao turned to the section on the Flying Thunder God Technique and began studying it closely.
As everyone knows, when performing a Summoning Technique, chakra forms a summoning seal pattern—similar to a magic circle—that activates the seal and summons the contracted creature.
The unique script markings of the Flying Thunder God Technique are, in fact, a type of summoning seal—a summoning array.
So there are two key steps to learning the Flying Thunder God Technique:
First, you must form a contract with the Flying Thunder God Seal.
Only then can you summon yourself to the location of that seal, achieving spatial teleportation.
This part isn't particularly difficult; many people can accomplish it.
The hard part is the second step.
After contracting the seal, you have to learn how to summon yourself—how to teleport yourself to the seal's location.
Summoning yourself doesn't depend on so-called spatial perception talent. Although the Flying Thunder God is a space-time ninjutsu, it does not require such a talent.
In truth, no one actually has any "spatial perception talent."
What it requires is extraordinarily precise chakra control.
Because to summon yourself, you must first engrave the seal's pattern into your own body.
This step alone blocks 99% of those who attempt to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique.
Remember, those who get the chance to study this technique are already considered geniuses.
Orochimaru, Tsunade, Jiraiya, the Third Hokage, Danzō—they all surely studied it, but none mastered it.
That shows how incredibly difficult it is to inscribe the seal into one's own body.
First of all, the seal for the Flying Thunder God is far more complex than the one used in Summoning Jutsu. It involves advanced sealing knowledge.
Without a deep understanding of sealing arts, one couldn't even comprehend it, let alone inscribe it into their body.
Before Li Yao had mastered enough sealing techniques, he had spent a long time unsuccessfully trying to inscribe the Devouring Seal into his body.
So without deep sealing knowledge, learning the Flying Thunder God Technique was virtually impossible.
Thankfully, Li Yao already possessed all the required foundational knowledge.
He took out a sheet of chakra paper and followed the procedure outlined in the Scroll of Seals. Focusing chakra into his right hand, he pressed down on the paper, causing a black seal pattern to spread out across its surface.
Li Yao lifted his hand and smiled with satisfaction.
A finely detailed Flying Thunder God seal had appeared on the chakra paper.
Success.
Compared to others, Li Yao—who inherited the full legacy of the Uzumaki Clan—had an enormous reserve of knowledge in sealing arts.
For others, the script was nearly incomprehensible and full of overlapping complexity. But to Li Yao, the underlying theory and purpose were clear at a glance.
Combined with his perfect chakra control—
He succeeded in producing the seal pattern on his first try.
Next came the difficult part: engraving the Flying Thunder God seal into his body.
Every person's body is different.
Li Yao couldn't just follow the seal placement used by Tobirama as recorded in the scroll—it wouldn't work.
He had to figure out the configuration that would allow him to engrave the seal onto his own body.
For the next three days, Li Yao immersed himself in research and experiments, attempting to inscribe the seal within his body—even while Chiba Megumi was riding him in their nightly activities, he kept his mind focused on the experiment.
Thanks to his deep knowledge of sealing arts, perfect chakra control, and his prior experience inscribing the Devouring Seal—
By the fourth night, Li Yao finally succeeded in forming the Flying Thunder God seal inside his body.
The moment the engraving was completed, Li Yao could sense the original seal he'd left on the chakra paper. With a single thought and a burst of chakra to activate the internal seal, he could teleport to the location of that paper.
However, he didn't test it right away—Chiba Megumi was still enthusiastically cheering him on from above.
After a long and intense night—
The next day came.
It was Sunday morning.
At the Uchiha clan compound—which covered enough land to be a city within a city—things were already bustling.
By noon, clans allied with the Uchiha began arriving to offer congratulations.
Despite the pressure the Third Hokage had placed on them, with most of the Senju Clan now gone, the Uchiha were unchallenged as Konoha's strongest clan.
The Third had to rally numerous clans aligned with the Senju just to counterbalance the Uchiha's strength.
This alone showed how powerful the Uchiha were.
The shinobi world reveres strength—those with power naturally draw followers.
Even though the Uchiha were proud and difficult to get along with, they were still immensely attractive to the smaller shinobi clans.
Because the Uchiha were strong—and strong clans were expected to carry themselves with pride.
The shinobi clans close to the Uchiha admired their power, and there were quite a few of them.
By evening, Konoha's major clans had arrived, along with many renowned and powerful shinobi.
Among them was Konoha's Sakumo —Hatake Sayun.
He was seated near the main table, surrounded by well-known jōnin from the village.
Throughout the entire wedding banquet, the Lightning Clone remained silent and aloof, signaling to all not to approach him. Only when the bride appeared did his eyes finally rest upon that mature and charming woman.
Soon—
The wedding concluded, guests gradually departed, and the lively Uchiha compound returned to quiet.
Inside the wedding chamber, Uchiha Mikoto sat calmly on the bed, though inside she was anxious—with a tinge of anticipation.
She and the clan head, Uchiha Fugaku, hadn't spent much time together.
Their marriage was a political alliance between two factions within the clan.
She was the daughter of a radical elder; Fugaku was the grandson of the former clan head.
Their union had been the key to Fugaku becoming clan head.
Of course, Fugaku's exceptional strength was also a major reason.
In the power-reverent Uchiha Clan, a leader must be strong enough to earn everyone's respect. Otherwise, even a clan head's son wouldn't be accepted.
Mikoto had no love for Fugaku—only a faint admiration for his strength.
If everything went smoothly, she would gradually turn that admiration into love, just like in the original story.
So—would everything go smoothly?
Li Yao's answer: Yes.
He rose silently from beneath the floor. Outside the room, the two female Uchiha guards had already fallen under his genjutsu. They wouldn't respond to any sounds from the room.
"Who's there?"
Startled by the sudden appearance of a stranger, Uchiha Mikoto jumped to her feet in alarm. But before she could act further, a wave of dizziness overtook her. When she looked again at the stranger, her expression instantly softened with shyness.
