Chapter 123: Chakra Inheritance, Human Stick
"Are you really going to be okay?"
The Third Hokage whispered softly, his gaze flickering with uncertainty.
He knew it was normal for ANBU ninja on missions to go several days without sending intel, but his son usually sent reports every two days. This time, it had been five days with no word, and he couldn't calm his mind.
Especially after learning from the latest intel that Li Yao possessed the Raikage's signature Lightning Release jutsu—Black Lightning—as well as the Uzumaki Clan's Vajra Chains. Such an extraordinary situation filled the Third with unease.
One day.
Two days.
Two more days passed, still no news from his son or daughter-in-law. The Third finally couldn't sit still.
"Summoning Technique!"
In the Sarutobi estate's backyard, the Third performed the summoning jutsu to call forth Enma, the Monkey King.
"Enma, you... huh? Where's the enemy?"
Enma immediately entered combat mode but quickly sensed something was wrong—the Sarutobi home surroundings didn't look like a battlefield.
"Enma, can you check the clan's contract scroll? Are Tenchu and Ayase's names still there?" The Third asked anxiously.
"What? Has that Tenchu boy gotten into trouble?" Enma asked curiously.
The Third nodded, "Yes, they've been on mission for days without sending intel. I want to confirm if they're still alive."
"Understood, I'll return to the clan to check the scroll." Enma released the summoning jutsu and went to the clan lands to examine the contract.
Every shinobi who uses summoning has their name written on the contract scroll of the summoning beast clan.
When a shinobi dies, their name disappears from the scroll.
The Third intended to use this method to determine if his son and daughter-in-law were dead.
Meanwhile...
Above a sea region in the Sea of Storms, the Black Iron Giant Eagle flapped its wings and circled.
Inside its belly, Li Yao looked at Sarutobi Ayase's slightly protruding flat stomach with delight. More accurately, he sensed a familiar yet unfamiliar chakra fluctuation inside Ayase's womb through his chakra perception.
That chakra fluctuation was his own, but it was uncontrollable—his consciousness couldn't merge with it, yet it was undoubtedly his chakra signature, identical to the one in his own body.
"As expected, chakra can be inherited by offspring."
At that moment, Li Yao confirmed that chakra could indeed be passed down through bloodlines.
That was why the chakra of the Third Hokage was faintly present within Sarutobi Tenchu and Ayase's chakras.
As for why Li Yao could only sense the Third's chakra fluctuations, but not those of Ayase's parents—
Li Yao guessed it was probably because his chakra perception was deeper and more attuned to the Third's chakra and his own.
Regardless, it was certain that Sarutobi's daughter-in-law, the stunning Ayase, was already carrying the bloodline of Li Yao's body and had inherited his chakra.
Now that his goal was achieved, there was no need to keep the couple around anymore.
As before, he still needed to survive for several more years.
But before abandoning the Sarutobi couple, Li Yao needed to do something to Tenchu himself.
"You... what are you trying to do now?"
For days, no matter how many times Li Yao taunted him with his wife, Sarutobi Tenchu remained silent. But now, under Li Yao's chilling gaze, he trembled all over and nervously asked with a stammer.
Tenchu's voice caught Ayase out of her daze and she stared warily at Li Yao behind them.
"Have you heard of a stick called a human stick?" Li Yao suddenly asked with a smile.
Tenchu instinctively shook his head, unaware of what it meant, but he knew Li Yao surely planned something cruel.
"Don't move, Tenchu. Li Yao, do what you want to me."
Ayase realized Li Yao was going to harm her husband—not kill him, but torture him.
Her husband had already lost the symbol of manhood, and she wouldn't let him lose anything else.
Ayase knelt before Li Yao like a puppy, wagging her metaphorical tail, begging, "Please, Li Yao, don't harm my husband. I'll lick you clean—I'll make your nails shine."
Clang...
In response, Black Iron Chains bound her tightly.
"No... Li Yao... I..."
Despite her pleas, Li Yao was unmoved. With a joyful smile, he approached Tenchu.
Clang clang... The Black Iron Chains on Tenchu's body retracted, leaving only a few spread to pin him in a "大" shape.
Li Yao drew a kunai in his right hand, infused it with sharp Wind Release chakra, forming a 35-centimeter Wind Release kunai blade.
"Come, I'll show you what a human stick is."
Li Yao raised the kunai and laughed darkly, aiming it at Tenchu's thigh.
"You used to have two hands and three legs. Now you still have two hands and two legs. Soon, I'll make it two hands and one leg."
As he said "leg," the kunai slid down swiftly.
Blood sprayed everywhere inside the Black Iron Eagle's belly like a broken pipe.
"Li..."
Ayase's endless pleading stopped instantly, her eyes vacant.
"Two hands and one leg left."
"Oh, now only two hands."
"Oh, now only one hand."
Pat pat... Li Yao patted Tenchu's pale face, gently asking, "Now, do you understand what I mean by human stick?"
"Li..."
Slap... Tenchu's words cut off as he glared furiously at Li Yao before fainting.
"Li... Yao!!!"
"I will kill you! No, I will eat you! I'll devour you piece by piece, you bastard..."
Tears mixed with blood streamed from Ayase's bloodshot eyes, her hatred altering her chakra.
Boom!
Li Yao's expression shifted slightly as he looked at Ayase.
His brow furrowed—this woman had used her intense hatred to break the genjutsu chakra he had planted in her mind!
This was the power of breeding rage!
What a strange world!
Even this was possible!
Li Yao was surprised but then smiled.
Logically, in this situation, he should kill Ayase immediately.
Otherwise, with this hatred-induced chakra mutation, she'd grow stronger and pose a future threat to him.
So the best choice was to kill her now and eliminate the root of the problem.
But... heh heh!
Li Yao didn't care.
If living couldn't make the Third suffer ultimate pain, then his six years of hell were a joke.
Villains die because they talk too much.
Villains die because they don't kill.
Now Li Yao understood why some villains always let obvious threats live—
Sometimes death isn't what they want as revenge.
