Chapter 43: Development of the Adamantine Sealing Chains
"Hmm…?"
"What did that Danzo guy do to my chakra and cells?"
Inside Lab No.2, floating in the glass tank, Li Yao could sense the fragment of chakra Danzo had extracted from him—it was now being devoured.
A massive chakra, brimming with intense life force, was devouring his own chakra. His chakra couldn't resist it at all and was quickly consumed.
With the chakra gone, the piece of consciousness fused within it soon dissipated as well.
That devouring force was far too strong!
If the chakra drain from the Eight Trigrams Seal was like scooping at a dirt mound with a spoon, then this force was like a massive excavator tearing through it.
With such overwhelming devouring strength, Li Yao's chakra had no defense.
"What now?"
Li Yao thought quickly.
If that chakra came into contact with his body, he'd be drained completely. Even if it didn't kill him, losing his chakra meant he'd never escape this place.
"So close… just a bit more."
Inside one of his chakra acupoints, Li Yao was in the middle of fusing the properties of Acupoint Chakra and the Eight Trigrams Sealing Chakra, while also working on forming a new chakra chain structure.
Half a year ago, while exploring ways to convert his chakra into combat strength, he finally came up with an idea.
His strongest asset was sealing chakra.
Whether Acupoint Chakra or Eight Trigrams Sealing Chakra, both possessed formidable suppressive and restraining effects.
He wanted to simplify this sealing power and weaponize it.
Ordinarily, sealing jutsu required the user to immobilize the enemy before applying a sealing formula. If the enemy moved, the jutsu would fail or be rendered ineffective.
That's why sealing jutsu were rarely used in standard combat.
But there was one clan that had overcome this limitation—
The Uzumaki Clan.
They had refined their sealing jutsu to the point of becoming direct weapons.
The most famous among them was the Adamantine Sealing Chains.
These were chakra chains formed through advanced chakra shape transformation—giving solid form to sealing chakra. These chains could restrain an enemy's chakra without needing them to be immobilized, simply by piercing or binding them.
The Adamantine Chains were born from Uzumaki sealing chakra undergoing extreme transformation.
Even the full-body Nine-Tails, once sealed into Kushina, had been held immobile by them.
Unlike Minato's later use of the Eight Trigrams Seal, which couldn't suppress the Nine-Tails completely and had to contain it in a small "cell," the Adamantine Chains were direct and absolute.
This proved how powerful and effective the technique was—especially suited to Li Yao's current needs.
So, Li Yao decided to develop his own version.
But he had greater ambition than mere imitation.
He intended to fuse the high binding properties of Acupoint Chakra with the suppressive nature of the Eight Trigrams Sealing Chakra—creating a new sealing chakra with superior control and lockdown abilities.
Using this new sealing chakra, he would shape it into an Adamantine Chain form.
Li Yao was confident this chain would instantly immobilize enemy chakra flow.
Since then, he had been focused entirely on perfecting both the fusion and the chain formation.
To him, it was no different than developing a brand-new jutsu.
Luckily, his chakra perception ability was freakishly strong.
By comparing the properties of Acupoint Chakra and Eight Trigrams Chakra, breaking them down and experimenting repeatedly, he gradually made progress.
Now, half a year later, he was just one step away from successfully fusing the two into a "greater than the sum of its parts" sealing chakra.
At the same time, he had nearly completed the development of the chain's final stable form.
Though it looked like a simple series of interlocked "U" shapes, Li Yao believed the Adamantine Chain's interior had a complex structure.
Just like the Rasengan looked like a spinning ball of chakra—but its internal compression followed a highly regular, inward-spiraling pattern.
Without that stability, the Rasengan would collapse, as shown in its second training stage, where even a slight disruption in the chakra flow would burst a water balloon.
It was the same with the Adamantine Chains.
Forming a simple chain shape was easy—Li Yao could do it with a flick of his fingers.
But those would be fragile—breakable with a touch, incapable of restraining something like the Nine-Tails.
The Nine-Tails didn't just have immense chakra—it could dig six-meter-deep trenches into solid rock with a single swipe.
Weak chains would shatter instantly.
So the key wasn't just forming the chains, but designing an interior structure that made them ultra-durable.
Since he didn't have an actual Adamantine Chain sample to study, Li Yao had to invent it from scratch.
What's the strongest material?
Most people would say steel or diamond.
But if you asked what kind of chain structure could endure the most tension—
Li Yao's mind instantly pictured modern steel-cable suspension bridges in the Guizhou mountains.
Those cable systems, capable of holding thousands of tons, embodied true chain strength.
His version of the Adamantine Chains would be based on that concept.
A steel cable starts with steel wires. The strength of each wire determines the base strength.
Multiple high-tensile wires are twisted together to form a cable.
Then multiple cables are spiraled together to make an even thicker one.
This two-layered spiral dramatically boosts strength and flexibility.
If needed, this process can be repeated, layering ever-larger cables—but the core improvement depends on the individual wires.
For Li Yao, those wires were chakra threads.
To improve strength, he had to enhance the threads themselves.
After much testing, he figured out that if he used Acupoint Chakra's extreme binding ability to compress and fuse 10,000 high-speed chakra threads, he could create a single, stable, high-tensile "chakra cable."
Then, taking 10,000 of those cables and twisting them together, wrapping them in the new fused sealing chakra for added rigidity and suppression, he could form a larger "chakra steel cable."
Finally, he shaped it into interlocked "U" loops to form a complete chain.
That would be his new Adamantine Sealing Chain.
The hardest part was the beginning:
Compressing 10,000 hyper-speed chakra threads into one single, stable line using Acupoint Chakra.
He had to simultaneously control the spinning velocity—faster than Rasengan—and output enough binding chakra to compress them inward.
Only when all 10,000 threads fused into one solid line could the chain truly begin.
The challenge wasn't in chakra control—
But in mental stamina. The precision required was immense and mentally exhausting.
Even with his soul merged into chakra for enhanced control, he still couldn't hold it long enough to finish.
That last step—he couldn't cross it yet.
But would Danzo give him the time he needed?
