They were now able to look at a world map and see the
locations for each facility, two were south and one to the northwest where two
continents meet.
The rest of the Bunkers
spread over the larger land masses further west.
Deciding to head northwest to
stay over land as much as possible, they would meet their sounthern neighbors
last. Flying with Sandra and Helen, Michael explored Simon's capabilities.
Simon loved to tell jokes and make fun of people, he said it was part of his
programing to keep people in charge awake and alert. He also talked about the
aircrafts various stealth capabilities, including the ability to be invisible,
using cameras and projectors, it could capture the view above and below the
plane and project it on the opposite side.
It also had a few small maintinance robots but had no issues for them to
repair yet. They had stayed in Heaven
two days planning the route and who would go. The decision was to take as few
with them as possible and allow for them to move people or bring back supplies.
Jeff had proved to be a good administrator and was willing to maintain Heaven
in Micheal's absence. Their first contact would be with Eve, GOD's chosen
leader for the Bunker named Sky. Flying across the never-ending forest and
plains, it took fifteen hours to reach their destination, circling the
facility, they called Eve for permission to land. Even though it was summer
most of the area around the facilty was still covered in snow. Eve responded
and they landed on the roof of Sky, greeted by a large crowd they exited the
craft. Several were overly curious and started touching the plane. Simon came
on the outside speakers warning them off, and hitting a few with an electric
shock, to put teeth in his words. To Micheal's surprise Simon had addressed
them in various dialects. Eve greeted them as they exited the plane, and
arranged for them to meet and discuss the reason for the visit. Helen carrying
a few boxes set them on the table and removed the contents. Bread, Jam, Jerky,
Cheese, Butter and Wine, were spread out for snacks and for illustration
purposes how many products their facilty was generating. Eve not to be outdone
laid out meats and berries. But she dove into the bread, a luxury since
supplies from GOD had stopped dilivering, and they had no supplies of wheat or
corn. They talked breifly of local news and the changes to leadership that had
been required to fill in the vacancy, during GOD's absence. Micheal then
explained the reason for his visit, sharing GOD's warning of the impending
flood and freezing weather. The need to move south until the planet thawed,
since this facilty was further north, the freezing conditions would be worse.
Eve said, this facilty is run by a nuclear reactor, it will continue to operate
in our absence, and we only have about four hundred people here. Our efforts to
colonise outside of the facilty had met many challenges, the worst are the
animal attacks. We only have two Edens left and they only have twenty people to
each village. Our biggest challenge to moving is the distance, there is no way
we can pack enough supplies to walk 5000 miles south even with the new wagons.
Michael nodded his head in understanding, I will talk to GOD about possible
solutions to your situation when we next make contact. Eve put her hand on
Micheals arm, she looked into his eyes and asked a favor. Micheal please take
these two with you, she indicated a young man and woman. This is a selfish
request she admitted, these two are my children. They have wished to leave SKY
and explore the world. I want you to
grant that wish, this is Greg and Romona. Greg was built much like Micheal, but ten
years younger. Romona was fair skinned with red hair, a striking difference between
her and the other ladies at the SKY Bunker. She was the same age as Helen. Michael
agreed to them joining the mission, with the conditions they become soldiers in
GOD's army. Loading a few gifts from the
people of the Sky Bunker, dried fish and trinkets made from stone and bone,
they rose into the air traveling to the next Bunker.
