Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

POV Athènia

I'm busy stuffing my clothes into my suitcases.

" You look like you're happy to leave." said Kora

"I am, Kora. We'll discover more about ourselves over there." I replied to her

" And maybe we'll even find our mate." said Kora

" You know very well we might not even have one. I'm only a half-wolf." I said

" We can at least try our luck, can't we? " she said

I just shrug without bothering to answer her. I feel a presence watching me pack.

" Can I help you, my most unwelcome king?" I said with sarcasm, stressing the last words.

" Fabellia told me you agreed to leave." he said His voice is as cold as always.

" Oh, my king, I would never stay in a place that makes me go feral." I said, I like my tone—it sounds so cold. From his breathing, I can tell he's angry.

" What are you saying? We're not making you feral" he said .

" And yet I've stayed here more than seventeen years, and it has driven me feral." I said My voice holds no remorse.

" Your flight is tomorrow. You'd better be ready." he said

" Yes, my king." I said, He leaves after that, thinking I'll just forget what he said. Unwelcome, huh? Who does he think he is to judge me?

" Oh, calm down, Lis, or the tension might actually turn feral" Kora says it to tease me.

" I can't wait to leave." I replied

" Me too. We have to get out of this wild place." She chuckles after saying that, mocking the word wild. I burst out laughing so hard my stomach hurts.

" Damn it." said Junior, I turn to see Jiji, trying to stop laughing.

" Have you lost your mind or what?" he asked

" She's laughing because she's finally leaving this wild place."

I can't hold it—I explode in laughter again at what Arès said.

" Come on, pull yourself together now. You're scaring our brother." said Kora

" Damn." said Junior

After a few minutes of laughter, I finally calm down.

" I was starting to worry you'd gone officially insane." said Junior

" Oh, very funny." I said

Wait a minute—how did I just hear what Arès said? Another vision?

" Idiot, it's not a vision. Since you and he are twins, you can hear each other's thoughts." said Kora

Wait, he can hear you too now?

"Yes, he can. As long as we're in the same room, we can hear what the other feels, or if they're hurt. So technically, whenever we're together, it's a conversation between four." replied Kora

I sigh. Great. I look at Jiji.

" You heard what she said?" I asked

" Yeah—a conversation between four, I suppose" replied Junior

I smile at him.

" I see you're packing. You're really excited." He said

" More than you think. We'll stick to the plan then?" I said

I raise an eyebrow at him.

" Of course. To truly discover things, we need to separate. But you'll come back for the coronation, won't you?" he said

" Yes, of course. I'd never miss an important moment for my brother." I said

" You're leaving tomorrow." he asked

I sigh, looking down.

" I know. He didn't even let me stay longer to spend time with you." I said

" Don't worry, Lis. I'll visit you at your university whenever I can."

He frowns.

" Still, I don't understand why he's sending you away when there's a university here—and it's supposed to be the best." he said

" I know, Jiji. But the university over there is known to be the best for both supernaturals and humans. And I'm sure it has the largest library in the world. I'll definitely find something about supernaturals there." I said

He sighs in defeat, then looks at me.

" You know, I can feel your powers are about to fully awaken. But I also know you'll be strong enough to handle everything. Lis." he said

I look at him.

" Don't worry, Jiji. I'll be strong—for you, for me, and for everyone like us." I said

Junior's gaze turns emotional.

" I'll do my prince duties, Lis. I just hope I'll finish them in time to see you one last time tomorrow." said Junior

I hug my twin tightly, tears stinging my eyes.

" We'll see each other again on your 18th birthday." I said

" You mean our 18th birthday."

He says with a bit of humor. Like I've told you, my brother is the best. When people see us together, no one would believe we're siblings. He's totally different from me. His hair is blond, mine is white. His eyes are green, mine are blue. He's obviously taller—1m83, while I'm 1m72. Honestly, I look nothing like the rest of my family. My father is blond with blue eyes, just like my little sister and brother. Every descendant of the Stanford GRONDS has those traits—except me.

"Well, I'll get going, dear. See you tomorrow." said Junior

" See you tomorrow, Jiji." I said

He leaves. He'll have a lot of work to do since the king doesn't want us close. Why? Who knows. But knowing Jiji, no amount of duties will stop him from finding time for me. Why? Because we're the only ones who truly love each other. The others don't care much about me. And something tells me tonight will be a very long night.

POV Naynah

I storm back into my room, frustrated. Sometimes I hate my mother. No—let me be honest—I hate her all the time. Arghhhh!

" Naynah, calm down. Getting angry won't help. You'll only make me want to break free." said Ava

" I'm sorry, Ava." I apologize

I breathe in and out until I calm down. I'm so sick of them, damn it. Always ordering me around. What am I? Just a weapon to them?

" You are a dangerous weapon, my dear human." said Ava

" I'll remind you that I'm the only one you talk to." I retorted

" But Aunt Athèmna spoke to me." said Ava

I roll my eyes.

" Yeah, and only today." I said

" So, are we packing?" she asked

" Unfortunately, yes." I said

" Why don't you seem happy? We're finally leaving the pack for once." said Ava

"Yes, but mainly to kill someone." I replied

" Then we'll have to kill them." said Ava

" We don't have a choice" I said .

Why would my mother send me away when no one here even fears me? My aunt walks in with a smile worth gold.

" My darling." said auntie

" What's going on?" I asked

"Liam and I are staying one more week. That way, I'll be with you." said auntie, I sigh sadly.

"But not me." I said

"Why would you say that, sweetheart?" asked auntie

" Mom's sending me to London. My flight is tomorrow." I replied

She freezes at my words.

"No, she can't do that! I stayed because I wanted to spend time with you before leaving." I said

" Auntie, I have to go. If I do, I'll learn more about Ava. And I need to study for everyone's sake." I said

" It's not fair. I'll call Liam—we'll leave as we originally planned. I only stayed for you." She said

" I know, Auntie. But my mother is still your sister. She's still the eldest." I said

" I only have one sister—and that's Nancia." She leaves after saying that. I sigh. This family is a disaster. My whole life is a problem, but I have to go far away, alone, with no one.

" Excuse-me, am-I a ghost for you " said Ava with humor.

I laugh at her words. She is my strength.

" No, I meant with no one sincere, except for you and Auntie." I said

" Don't worry, I'll always be with you. Once we find our mate, we'll finally be happy." she said

A mate is a true half, someone whose emotions you can feel. We're not like humans who just follow their hearts. We can smell our mate, chosen by the Moon Goddess. The mate bond is stronger than anything. For example, we can sense when our mate is hurt, and if they ever betray us, we feel the pain of that betrayal. I only wish with all my heart that my mate won't be like that.

" I hope so too, Ava." I said

After that, I start packing my suitcases, getting ready to leave everyone behind.
