Chapter 321 - Chapter 33: Acquired

Seeing so many Hashira appear at once, Muzan Kibutsuji immediately realized he had fallen into a trap.

He didn't fight back.

He fled.

He wasn't afraid of the Hashira.

He was afraid of the one who summoned them.

That power wasn't a Blood Demon Art.

It was something he didn't understand.

Something unfamiliar.

And unfamiliar meant danger.

So Muzan fled at once, convinced he might die here tonight.

Unfortunately for him, the surrounding space had already been sealed by Emiya.

After only a few steps, he slammed into an invisible wall.

He froze.

He couldn't escape.

At the same moment, the Hashira attacked.

Water Breathing, Fourth Form: Striking Tide.

Insect Breathing: Dance of the Dragonfly, Compound Eye Hexagon.

Flame Breathing, Third Form: Blazing Universe.

Love Breathing, Second Form: Anguish of a Love-Struck Stalk.

Faced with this overwhelming assault, the cornered progenitor of demons finally snapped.

"You think you can kill me like this? You're too naive! Die-every last one of you!"

Eight whip-like flesh tubes burst from his body and lashed out at the Hashira.

On the quiet night, in an open field, Muzan attempted a desperate counterattack.

The result shocked him.

Splat. Splat.

His whips were severed effortlessly.

Even his body was sliced open.

Muzan's anatomy was nothing like a normal human's.

Five brains.

Seven hearts.

His regenerative ability was absurd.

He could recover instantly.

Even being cut apart was meaningless to him.

Yet under the Hashira's assault, Muzan was gravely wounded.

Three brains destroyed.

Four hearts obliterated.

In an instant, his strength plummeted.

"N-no... that's impossible!"

Barely clinging to life, Muzan was completely stunned.

From what he knew, three Hashira were usually required to defeat a single Upper Moon.

None of these people had unlocked the Demon Slayer Mark.

No one had entered the Transparent World.

There was no reason they should threaten him.

Yet he had been crushed.

Effortlessly.

Emiya wasn't surprised.

These Hashira were no longer what they once were.

After joining the Hephaestus Familia, they had learned Nen.

Many had entered the dungeon.

Their growth had been explosive.

Each of them now possessed the power to kill an Upper Moon alone.

Together, they were overwhelming.

Their Nichirin Blades had also been reforged.

Sharper.

Deadlier.

The fact that Muzan wasn't instantly killed spoke only to his vitality.

But it was just a matter of time.

Surrounded, battered, mutilated-

Muzan's emotions spiraled.

Anger.

Rage.

Madness.

Despair.

Finally-

Fear.

He didn't want to die.

Not here.

"Stop."

Just as the final blow was about to fall, Emiya spoke.

Though unwilling, none of the Hashira disobeyed.

They stopped.

Emiya stepped forward, landing lightly before Muzan.

"If you give me the contents of that doctor's notes, I'll let you go."

Muzan stared at him in disbelief.

He finally recognized him.

The man who had killed five Upper Moons.

The man who had told him about the Blue Spider Lily.

Emiya smiled faintly and dispelled his disguise, returning to his original appearance.

"So. Are you willing to make the deal?"

Only half of Muzan's body remained, along with his head.

Even so, he was still regenerating.

Slowly.

"Are you really willing to let me go?"

"As long as you don't lie," Emiya replied.

Muzan glanced at the Hashira behind him.

"Will they let me go too?"

Shinobu Kocho suppressed her killing intent.

"If it is Lord Emiya's order."

Muzan nodded.

"Fine. The notes I gave you before were real, but I altered several key points. I'll give you the correct data now."

"You may," Emiya said.

Muzan recited part of it.

Then stopped.

Emiya frowned.

"I'll tell you the rest after I leave," Muzan hurriedly added, clearly afraid of betrayal.

"Tsk."

Emiya clicked his tongue.

He had planned to trick him.

Muzan didn't fall for it.

"So be it."

Emiya created the Five Sights Almighty and placed it on his head.

Then he asked calmly.

"What are the remaining data points?"

Muzan stared at the Teigu, confused.

"I'll tell you after you let me go."

Emiya chuckled.

He had already seen everything.

"No need. I have what I want."

Muzan's face went white.

"You... you read my mind."

"That's right," Emiya said lightly. "I gave you a chance. You didn't take it. That's unfortunate."

He stood.

The Dragon of Greed emerged and swallowed Muzan whole.

Muzan's life force was immense.

Far beyond any Upper Moon.

The Dragon of Greed extracted it greedily.

When Muzan was nearly drained dry, Emiya ordered the dragon to spit him out.

Then he turned.

"He's yours."

Shinobu smiled faintly.

"Thank you, Lord Emiya."

The Hashira approached.

Muzan, now barely alive, trembled like a dying candle.

Seeing them close in, he screamed hysterically.

"Don't come near me-AAAAAH!"

...

When Muzan died, every demon attacking Sanemi Shinazugawa and Tengen Uzui collapsed instantly.

One by one, they perished.

When Emiya returned to the carriage, he saw Ubuyashiki Kagaya's scars fading.

His ruined face healed.

His body strengthened.

He transformed from a disfigured man into a young, handsome one.

Ubuyashiki touched his face in disbelief.

Then bowed deeply.

"Thank you, Lord Emiya."

"No problem," Emiya waved it off. "Handle the rest yourselves. I'll stay out of it."

A thousand-year wish had been fulfilled.

There would be celebration.

Emiya didn't belong there.

Before leaving, he took something from Ubuyashiki's hand.

The Blue Spider Lily.

He didn't return to the Empire.

Instead, he went to Dr. Kureha's villa.

Shiho Miyano was inside, brewing medicine.

Emiya paused when he saw the woman beside her.

Young.

Beautiful.

Long-legged.

Holding a bottle of plum wine.

If not for that bottle, he might not have recognized her.

Dr. Kureha.

She had used the Youth Potion.

Emiya smiled.

"That's a surprise, Doctor. I didn't expect you to be this beautiful when you were young."

Kureha laughed loudly.

Compliments worked on her too.

"So, Emiya boy," she said, "are you here to make us research something again?"

"Yes."

He handed over a notebook.

Shiho Miyano looked thoughtful.

"I heard you went after Muzan Kibutsuji."

"I did."

"These are that doctor's notes?"

Emiya nodded, then gave her a box.

"What's this?"

"The Blue Spider Lily."

Shiho's eyes lit up.

"I'll study it."

She was deeply interested.

After all, those notes had created Muzan Kibutsuji.

The progenitor of demons.

She wanted to know the final product.

Would it be a simple medicine?

Or something extraordinary?

A drug that granted power and allowed one to walk in sunlight without devouring humans?

She leaned toward the latter.

But until it was completed-

No one could be sure.
