------------
The next day.
At 9:55 a.m., outside the Pentagon.
The scene was unusual.
The Pentagon, an institution whose secrecy and importance were no less than the White House, was always heavily guarded. But at this moment, the security was at a level no less than a state of war.
They were on high alert, waiting for the arrival of one person, according to their superiors' orders.
However, most of them felt it was completely impossible. The Pentagon was a military fortress. Who would believe that a single person could approach the building without a pass or identity?
"9:55 a.m."
In the top-floor conference room, Camilles looked at the clock on the wall and asked Anderson, "Are you sure he can get here without any clearance?"
"I'm not sure, but" at least at my private villa, he really could come and go without a trace. Even after I installed infrared cameras, there were no alarms," Anderson said helplessly.
"I think getting here shouldn't be a problem."
"I'm very curious," Camilles nodded. "Was what happened last night real?"
"Yes," Anderson said. "I specifically had the National Guard cordon off the area and only allowed High Table people to enter and leave. After we evacuated the civilians" the High Table forces were completely wiped out, even though they had sent nearly 500 people."
"How is that possible? Five hundred people, and with the equipment of the High Table's forces"
"It is said" that someone saw a bolt of lightning killing the High Table's men."
"Lightning?"
"Yes. We don't know exactly what it was, maybe some new kind of weapon?"
"Is it over now?"
"Yes" fighting isn't allowed during the day, according to the previous agreement. And because the battle was so one-sided, the cleanup wasn't difficult."
Five minutes, neither long nor short, passed quickly as they chatted. It was exactly 10:00 a.m.
"" Camilles looked at Anderson, the meaning in his eyes clear.
"This shouldn't be" Anderson frowned slightly.
"I said, ten a.m. sharp."
Just then, a voice suddenly appeared behind them.
"The Pentagon, just me."
With a shimmer, Morin's figure completely materialized out of thin air.
The guards in the conference room were well-trained. They aimed their guns at Morin and were about to pull the trigger.
"Don't shoot," Camilles said, surprised but also quickly recovering. He waved his hand, stopping the guards.
"You are Morin?"
"The one and only," Morin said, shrugging his shoulders and picking a random seat.
"Mr. Anderson should recognize me."
"He is the person I told you about," Anderson whispered.
"How did you get in?" Camilles asked, not showing much vigilance. He sat down in his seat, looking intrigued.
For a person in his position, you couldn't get by without a quick mind. Camilles knew very well that if Morin had really wanted to harm him, he would have been dead already.
To be able to silently bypass so many security measures, get to the top-floor conference room, and appear right behind him!
Couldn't he have just shot him or stabbed him?
A person like that at least for now, since Camilles had no way of dealing with him"could only be courted!
Camilles only hoped that the demands Morin made would be as reasonable as Anderson had said.
Of course, some verbal probing was necessary. If he could figure out how Morin had appeared here, he could then think of countermeasures.
"The Templar Knights Walk in the light," Morin said, his expression pious as he spouted nonsense.
"The light will protect me."
The truth was, of course, his Advanced Stealth Skill!
Having leveled up twice, Morin's Advanced Stealth Skill had changed from becoming a shadow to becoming invisible, and it had also gained the ability to change shape.
Naturally, it consumed mana much faster than before, but Morin's Knight Bloodline gave him a huge boost. So, even though the duration was shorter, the efficiency was relatively higher.
Something still felt a little off"
"Does such power really exist?" Camilles asked seriously.
Camilles didn't believe Morin had gotten in through normal means; he had just witnessed Morin materialize out of thin air.
"Very few people have this ability, and I am one of them," Morin said.
"Don't worry, Secretary Camilles. My goal has never been power. I just want to bring order back to this world."
"Okay," Camilles said. "What do you want?"
"First, just like last night," Morin said. "Don't hinder us, and you don't need to hinder them. Just give us a perfect battlefield. Until we eliminate the High Table, the Templar Knights need to enjoy the same, if not better, treatment."
"Second," Morin said, bringing up the most important point. "I need the right to live broadcast to everyone."
"That" Camilles frowned.
"Information channels are very important," Morin said. "The Templar Knights' goal has never been to control the underworld. We are just here to maintain order. So, we need to broadcast to society and let them know."
"I can't believe that statement," Camilles said, shaking his head seriously. "What if you use it to"
"Could things get any worse?" Morin interrupted him without giving him a chance to save face, mocking him.
"You have already lost credibility. The government, the country, the law" are the people completely unaware of your neglect and indulgence?"
"Or are you trying to deceive yourself and pretend they don't know?"
"I know you can't get involved, and I don't need you to. I just need to give the people who were abandoned by you the ordinary people a chance."
"It's time for their hatred to find a place to be released."
"And don't be so shameless as to tell me that the High Table might come after you for it. That would be too pathetic. It's just a right to live broadcast; you have to express your attitude and pay some kind of price, don't you?"
"If you can't even agree to these two demands, then I think our conversation should end here."
The room fell into silence.
Morin watched Camilles quietly.
"I have to say, your words are unpleasant, but they're all on point," Camilles said, breaking the silence after a long time.
"I have always wanted to change the current situation, but I've always been held back by various factors."
"And, looking at your methods and your accomplishments, I truly see a glimmer of hope for success."
Camilles took off his hat and scratched his gray hair. "When you get old, you worry more" Heh, you're right. If you're not willing to pay any price, the things you get won't be enjoyable."
"I, Secretary of Defense Camilles Gibbs, agree to a collaboration with you, Morin, of the Templar Knights!"
