Chapter 23 - Chapter 22: A New King

Albert stood in front of her, smiling.

Meanwhile, she growled, staring at him angrily.

"And now, my King, will you listen to me?"

Albert asked in a formal tone.

It only made her more annoyed.

"Grrr, you f***ing magician!! Let me... go!!"

She struggled to move, tied down by Albert's Spell Two.

"So I'm transported into a s**tty fantasy world?!"

She thought, trying to break free with her strength.

But the golden chain was a spell Albert created, an unbreakable immobilizing effect.

[Spell Two > A spell that will paralyze the target with unbreakable golden chains connected to the ground, binding anyone the holder deems an enemy or threat. Activation Method > By speaking the spell name. Condition > This spell can be deactivated only when the holder loses the desire to restrain the foe.]

"My King... I know you are in a state of disbelief, which leads you to such actions, understandable, but..."

He stared at her.

She listened, clenching her teeth.

"Well, how did you control the minds of the Chiefs to make them run like a group of weak children?"

Albert had noticed the strange reactions of the chiefs. Everyone was said to be the strongest in their villages, why would they feel fear and flee without fighting? He speculated it was a type of mind control.

Which he confirmed using his function, Soul Reading Eyes, that let him see through their state of mind and any abnormalities in the chiefs who panicked and ran.

She didn't answer him.

"What? I'm f**ked!!"

She thought, worried about her exposure.

After her arrival, she had planned to use her ability to control Lina's mind but failed. That was why she eliminated her with a needle, sending her unconscious.

"You have a great mind, f****r."

She said, acting tough by not answering Albert's question.

"I'll take that as a compliment. So, do you have some kind of weapon, item, or any otherworldly object you use to control the minds of people?"

Albert guessed, hoping she would correct him and reveal her ability.

Albert then activated his function to look deeper into her.

Albert was stunned as he read the information about her, unable to fully understand her personality.

He was also skeptical of the word zombie.

Yet, he was excited to realize this was no coincidence, that she was the one summoned as the new King with her abilities and skills.

"So, she has abilities without an artifact. Not surprising, since she's from another world. I might end up under her palm if I carelessly believe her."

He thought to himself, wary of the skills he saw, especially Acting and Manipulating.

She grew suspiciously silent, as if something was on her mind.

"This man must have a thing for me. He's staring without blinking, what a perv."

She thought, assuming Albert's gaze was lustful, not realizing he was reading her background.

"Hey!! Let me free, and... I'll let you do anything you want to me if you... But before that, let me smash your f***ing head!!"

She offered boldly, her voice low and lips playful.

Albert stepped back, holding his chin with a shocked stare at how bold she was, though it was obvious she only wanted to escape.

"What is she talking about? Why is she..."

He thought.

"Alright. You will be freed, my King, when that person awakens. Please don't be violent after that."

Albert said, sitting on the stairs leading to the throne.

She then asked, with a mix of insult in her tone, why he kept addressing her as King.

"Then I'll humbly explain, my King, you were summoned into this world as nothing other than the new King. No more, no less."

He answered directly, to the point.

After Lina revealed that the King would do it, Albert had made a plan to build a better connection with the new King. He wanted to reduce the risk of being used and losing his freedom, even though he had a contract with the late King. From a maid who delivered his dinner last night, he had learned that when a new King is chosen, new laws are made.

She was surprised at Albert's words, that she was the new King. Her head shot up quickly, but her face grew even angrier.

"Kya-hahahaha!!"

She laughed loudly.

"Oh my gosh, my goal was within reach in my world, you know?! And then... you f*ing summoned me into this fantasy world to become a King? Fk you!!"

She shouted in grief, tears forming in her eyes.

In her world, she had created a cure and successfully wiped out all zombies, a goal she had already reached. Yet now she was suddenly transported into a world that stripped away her hope of living peacefully, forcing a heavy role on her without consent.

That was what made her furious.

As she silently cried, Lina began to move a finger. Her lips trembled as she regained consciousness.

Albert ached with guilt, struck by a feeling of not knowing what she was going through. He sympathized, remembering his own experience of losing hope.

She too had lost her awaited life of peace in her world.

Lina had now completely regained consciousness and slowly stood, looking at Albert's back as his head hung low.

At first, she was confused about what was happening. The only thing she remembered was when the King summoned their new Ruler.

She saw the woman tied in golden chains.

Her eyes widened in realization, that woman was their new Ruler, because of the ring on her finger.

She hurried to Albert.

"Albert!! What is happening? Where are the chiefs?"

She asked as she approached him.

When Albert heard Lina's voice, he didn't hesitate to deactivate his spell, just as they had agreed.

"Lina!! Please... there is no time to explain things that are already done. Right now, you must do what was entrusted to you by the former King."

Albert said as he stood, his voice serious.

"I'll leave for now, as it is not my role to assist a King."

Albert walked outside, toward where the chiefs had fled.

Lina didn't ask further. She approached their new King, who sat in despair, her face etched with sorrow, slumped as if she had no strength left.

Lina didn't know what was happening, but she sensed from Albert's eyes earlier that this woman needed someone to slowly help her accept reality, though his warning gaze carried caution.

"Are you sad? Do you feel like this is a dream? Then, you must accept what is present before you, my King."

She said with a gentle smile.

"F**k!!!"

The woman shouted.

Lina was startled by the outburst. She thought of a way to calm her down, and suddenly, an idea came.

An idea to comfort her.

"Listen, my King. You can still return to your world with the power of that person."

Lina said, crouching to meet her eyes.

She raised her head and faced Lina.

"Then if that's true, who in the world is that person who can send me back?"

She asked.

"That person is Albert, the man from earlier."

Lina answered softly.

The woman clenched her teeth, more irritated now that Albert hadn't mentioned she could return to her world.

At the same time, Albert, outside the hall, stared at the floor, where unconscious bodies of the chiefs lay scattered. His eyes locked on the Doctor.

His fists tightened in his pockets.

"Doctor... you shameless, greedy devil."

His mouth hardened.

Meanwhile, inside the hall, Lina spoke with their new King, guiding her to a room to rest and process everything. Lina, who had lied, planned to ask Albert later to make her words true.

But Lina didn't know that the sorrowful face she saw was only a cover.

Inside her room, the woman chuckled, then laughed, forcing herself to suppress it so no one would hear.

"Teehee, I am the best actor after all."

She said, lying in bed. Her weapons rested in the corner, and she didn't notice the golden ring with a red gem on her finger the artifact of the former King.

Then she remembered Albert.

"Why?!... How the fk didn't my curse work on him? And how the fk can't I see his inner thoughts?"

She wondered.

"Hahahaha, could it be... he is a she?"

She chuckled.

The truth was, she didn't care that she was sent to this world. In fact, she was happier, for a certain reason.
