Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 - The Rift Above the Clouds

The morning sky stretched endless above them, painted in the faint blush of dawn. Buu floated lazily through the clouds, one arm crossed, the other holding Bulma by the waist as she complained for the hundredth time.

"Couldn't we just land for five minutes?" she groaned, shivering. "It's freezing up here!"

"You wanted fast," Buu said flatly. "This is fast."

Mai, sitting cross-legged on a floating pink platform trailing beside them, said nothing. She had grown quieter since joining them — watching Buu more than speaking, as if trying to figure out what kind of man he really was.

Below, the land unfurled in endless greens and browns — rivers like veins, forests like breath.

It would have been peaceful… if the sky hadn't suddenly cracked.

A deep hum rippled through the air. Ahead of them, space itself began to twist — violet light bleeding through invisible seams, forming a glowing wound in the heavens.

Bulma gasped. "What—what is that?! A storm?"

Buu's eyes narrowed. "No. Something worse."

From the swirling rift, a figure stepped through as if walking on solid ground — silver hair, amused grin, and eyes gleaming like a cat's in the dark.

"Now this is unexpected," the stranger said, hovering before them. "Majin Buu, out for a morning flight? And with company? How very… domestic."

Buu's expression didn't change. "Fu."

Bulma blinked. "Who's this clown?"

Fu smirked, floating upside down just to irritate her. "Oh, I'm no clown, miss genius. I'm just someone keeping an eye on things — and you two have been making quite a mess of the timeline."

"Timeline?" Bulma repeated. "You mean like… a schedule?"

Mai took out the gun. "You should leave. Now."

Fu chuckled softly. "Ah, the loyal soldier. Cute."

Then his gaze shifted back to Buu. "You've drawn too much attention. The Time Patrol's been buzzing like angry hornets. Like I said before, I can protect you… if you let me study what you've become."

Buu tilted his head, intrigued. "Didn't change your mind, huh?"

"Of course not. You're… unique. The wish, your aura, the way reality bends around you — fascinating stuff. Work with me, and maybe we can both get what we want."

Bulma frowned, crossing her arms. "Sorry, weird scientist guy, but we're busy. Find your own lab rat."

Fu grinned wider. "Oh, you're adorable. You have no idea what's happening, do you?"

Before Bulma could retort, the sky flashed blue. A sharp wind tore through the clouds, and another voice — firm, controlled — echoed above them.

"That's enough, Fu."

Fu turned, and a glowing figure dropped from the tear in space — sword gleaming, aura shimmering like lightning.

He landed on a nearby rock spire, cape fluttering, eyes sharp.

Buu's gaze flickered. "So they sent you."

Bulma stared, speechless. The newcomer looked human — but unlike anyone she'd seen. His hair, his energy, his presence… everything about him screamed power, and...

'he has purple hair. Are Buu and him related?'

Fu rolled his eyes. "Oh great, him. Always ruining my fun."

Trunks rested his sword against his shoulder. "Fun? You've been tampering again. And this time, you dragged the wrong person into it." His gaze shifted to Buu. "You don't belong here, not after that wish."

Bulma blinked. "Wait—who even are you people? What wish? What are you talking about?!"

Neither man answered. The air between Fu and Trunks crackled, time itself warping with their tension.

Mai pulled Bulma back slightly. "Stay behind me."

Trunks took a step closer to Buu. "You altered the flow of history when you made that wish. But it doesn't have to end badly. Help me stabilize the rift — and you can keep everything you've gained."

Fu laughed, flipping mid-air. "Oh, please! He doesn't need your charity. Come with me, Buu. I'll show you what you truly are — where your power really comes from."

"Power?" Bulma echoed, eyes darting between them. "Buu, what are they talking about? You're not—"

"Quiet," Buu said softly, but not unkindly. His aura began to rise — faint pink light wrapping around him like smoke.

Fu's smile turned sharper. "Careful, Majin. If you choose the Patrol, you'll just end up in their little time cage."

Trunks' eyes narrowed. "If you side with him, you'll end up erased."

The world seemed to hold its breath. Clouds swirled violently around them, lightning flashing across the horizon.

Mai clutched Bulma's arm, whispering, "We need to move."

But Bulma shook her head, staring at Buu — the calm at the center of the chaos. "He's not going anywhere," she said, more to herself than anyone else.

Buu's gaze moved slowly from Fu to Trunks. Then to Bulma — her fear, her confusion, the faint stubborn spark behind her eyes.

His lips curved into a faint grin.

"Two offers," he said. "Two futures."

Fu spread his arms, the rift behind him expanding into a swirling vortex of violet light. "Choose wisely, Majin!"

Trunks raised his sword, energy flaring. "Make the right choice — before it's too late!"

The sky screamed open, the distortion swallowing the clouds above. Bulma stumbled, shielding her face as the wind howled. Mai shouted her name, trying to hold on.

Buu didn't move. His aura pulsed once — and the storm froze around him.

He looked up, eyes glowing crimson. "With this, I can speed up my plan." he murmured "But first..."

Then, in one motion, he disappeared into the storm — not before throwing something at Bulma and Mai.
