Chapter 23 - Red Line, Meeting Crocus the former member of the Pirate King's crew.

NOTE: Leave your power stones, and maybe a comment, hahaha, please!

After leaving Loguetown on Nue, Rody quickly headed to the ship where Nami and the others were waiting for him. Before the battle, Rody had instructed Sebastian that, while he was fighting Smoker, they should set sail and maintain a safe distance from Loguetown: neither too close nor too far.

Finally, a short time later, Rody disembarked from Nue to the ship and, after a few conversations about the outcome of his battle with Smoker, he and his crew headed for the Red Line.

It's worth noting that the Red Line divides the Grand Line into two halves. The first half, which extends from Reverse Mountain to the opposite point of the Red Line, where Mary Geoise is located, is known as Paradise. The second half, which begins beyond the second point of the Red Line, behind Reverse Mountain, is known as the New World.

After a while, a huge shadow appeared in front of the ship.

"That, Rody, that, is that the Red Earth Continent? It's incredible!" Nami said, surprised, her pupils narrowing at the enormous current that surged into the sky, defying all logic. "The mountains... the mountains are so high they pierce the clouds. It's incredible!"

Rody wasn't surprised by what Nami had said. Even he was shocked. After all, before him rose Inverted Mountain, a colossal mountain range that opened like a wound in the Red Earth Continent. It was a scene where the oceans rebelled against the sky.

Rody knew that this enormous colossus was where the four seas converged, defying all laws of nature. From each end of this colossus, enormous currents surged up the slopes with the force of a thousand titans, colliding at the top to send people to the Grand Line.

The sound of the rising water was extremely terrifying, to the point of numbing his eardrums.

At that moment, Nami felt nervous and afraid upon seeing the Inverted Mountain. After all, this scene is extremely shocking. She feared that if she failed, they would end up burying everyone here.

Seeing Nami's nervous face, Rody hugged her from behind and said, "Don't worry! I know you can do it. You're the most talented Navigator in the East Blue, and you'll definitely make it!"

"Yes, yes, Miss Nami, it's just as the captain says. Don't be afraid. We'll be by your side and support you. You won't be alone!" Jose and Leo said in unison, though their nervous tone was evident.

"Captain's Wife, don't worry. We can definitely do it!" Bumblebee added, encouraging Nami.

"Yes, Lady Nami, we'll definitely reach the Grand Line safely!" Sebas politely offered his encouragement.

"Hohohoho, Nami, remember your dream; it will help you achieve everything you set out to do!" Carmen added, spinning exaggeratedly.

"Guys!" Nami murmured, her eyes reddening, obviously moved by everyone's words of encouragement. She clenched her fists tightly, her face firm. "Get ready, we're entering the Grand Line!" Nami shouted firmly and began giving orders.

The wind howled, tearing at the ship's sails as the waves roared like hungry beasts. The bow rose, and the raging water began to drag the ship into the updraft.

The instruments spun aimlessly, the compass trembling, unable to determine its course.

Nami's face was solemn and determined, her hair plastered to her face from the water that was beginning to soak the ship. Her eyes shone with unwavering determination.

"Main current amidships, angle of climb 40 degrees!" He shouted, "The westerly current will push us toward the rocks, so turn the sails 30 degrees to starboard!"

The words fell, and the others obeyed without hesitation.

After moving forward for a while, the ropes suddenly tightened, the sails changed direction, and the ship listed dangerously.

For a moment, it seemed as if everything would collapse.

"Now!" Nami shouted, "Go with the current, don't fight it! Go with the flow, Rody. Hold and turn the wheel firmly, align the ship in the center!"

Rady nodded and turned the wheel sharply. The ship lurched... and suddenly, everything aligned. At that moment, Leo and José secured the sails and let the momentum they gained propel them upward.

The roar of the water transformed into a continuous, almost harmonious roar.

Far from the panic of the others, Rody remained calm as he held the wheel. "Hmm, we should be ascending at a speed of approximately 130 kilometers per hour!" Rody thought.

A TIME LATER

Rody didn't know how much time had passed; real life was far from anime. Traveling upside down over the mountain had taken them approximately two hours, according to his calculations, which was quite outrageous.

Suddenly, the ship was propelled skyward by the force of the ocean current, briefly hovering in the air.

Waaaaa! "Mom, save me!" Leo and Jose cried, crying inconsolably as they clung to the ship's mast. Nami clung tightly to Rody's clothes as he hugged her waist with one hand and held the rudder with the other.

The next moment

SPLASH

The ship fell back into the water and this time began to descend. This time, the speed was more terrifying than before.

At that moment, Nami and the others saw the white clouds below them, and the vast blue sky loomed on the horizon.

"How beautiful!" Nami murmured at the wonderful scene.

"Certainly," Rody replied, marveling at the scenery.

AFTER A WHILE

Rody and his crew continued down the mountain. While Rody found this boring, the others didn't. After they calmed down, they found this descent exhilarating.

ROAR

Suddenly, a strange and loud A roar came from below, and everyone looked toward the approximate location where the roar was coming from.

"What's that sound? Did anyone hear that strange sound like I did?" Bumblebee asked in surprise, flashing his headlights.

"I'm sure it wasn't the wind or the ocean currents that caused that sound. So I'm not sure what caused it, but maybe there's something I don't know," Nami speculated.

"..."

"What... what's that, a mountain?" Leo tremblingly pointed at the enormous black shadow that was growing larger and larger as the ship descended.

"Oh no, it's a mountain. We're not going to die here, are we?" José exclaimed, horrified, at the sight of the enormous shadow.

Immediately afterward, "No, Captain, please find a solution!"

Seeing the enormous black shadow rising in the distance, Leo and Jose ran to Rody and, panicking, said to him while hugging his legs.

Looking at the panicking crowd, Rody calmly said, "Don't be scared. What's in the distance is the giant whale I told you about before, remember?" After hearing Rody's words, everyone's faces, which had been tinged with panic, returned to normal, and they stopped worrying.

The ship pierced the dense clouds and fog, revealing Laboon's enormous body, as big as a mountain. It towered over the water, roaring incessantly, its forehead covered in scars, almost blocking the exit from the mountain.

"It's truly incredible that such colossal creatures exist in this world. Although I know, the impression given by the manga and reality aren't exactly the same. I can only say that there's a world of difference between the two! If I kill such a gigantic beast, I wonder how much kill value I'll get, and how tasty the cooked food will be?" Rody thought in amazement upon seeing Laboon.

"Captain, Captain! I know this giant whale's past is truly pitiful, but we're about to collide with it. With such a large body, it's like colliding with a mountain for us. If the ship collides with that thing, it'll be blown to bits!"

"Yes, Captain, we're about to collide," Leo and Jose repeated, both panicking.

"Calm down!" Rody walked to the bow deck with a calm face, extended his hand, and clenched his fist tightly, causing the veins in his arm to bulge.

BUZZ

In an instant, Rody's arm was enveloped by cursed energy. It looked like blue flames with faint black lines, but it didn't stop there. The next instant, Rody's fist was covered in Armament Haki, making the blue flame even darker and more malignant.

Rody swung his fist forward.

BOOM

In an instant, the surface of the sea, impacted by Rody's Haki emission and the cursed energy, was as if a huge cannon had bombarded it, causing gigantic waves.

A moment later, the rapidly descending ship was struck by the frontal sea current caused by Rody's impact. This caused the ship's speed to slow down as it was hit by the wave.

At that moment, Nami understood what Rody wanted to do: she quickly ran to the helm and turned it, changing the ship's direction, heading toward the gap left by the enormous Laboon whale, crossing it without incident.

Rody watched as the damage caused by his blow gradually decreased. This move, although he had conceived it, was somewhat useless.

It seemed powerful, but the attacks were too scattered. It was difficult to cause effective damage to the strong. It could only be used to show off and destroy the weak.

Rody stopped the flow of his cursed energy and Armament Haki, dispersing them. After doing so, Rody looked at his palm thoughtfully.

"Since I came to this world with Sukuna's template, I feel like my strength has improved thanks to the nutrition and genes of the natives of this world, which has doubled the cursed energy in my body. On the other hand, it's likely that if I don't correct that, the amount of cursed energy is greater than that of the original Sukuna. Not only that, but my physique has also strengthened considerably."

But although there is still some growth, it's not as fast as before."

While Rody was deep in thought, the ship had already docked next to the nearby lighthouse.

At that moment, Rody snapped out of his thoughts, hugged Nami's slender waist, and jumped off the ship. "Come on, I'll show you an old man from the old days."

Sebas and the others, seeing that Rody had jumped off the ship, quickly anchored on the shore and hurried to follow them.

Nami skillfully hugged Rody's arm and looked around curiously. After a few glances Nami noticed that there was no one else there, except for a strange-looking old man reclining in an armchair reading the newspaper under the lighthouse.

"Excuse me, old man, is there no one else here besides you?" Nami asked, confused, to the old man reading the newspaper.

As soon as Nami finished speaking, the old man's pupils suddenly shrank. He looked at Rody and his group. The next moment, an invisible aura swept over them, overwhelming them like a raging tide.

Nami tightly gripped Rody's arm and leaned closer to him, visibly frightened by the strange aura emanating from the old man.

Looking at the flustered Nami, Rody shook his head, reached out, and rubbed her head, the invisible aura dissipating. "Nami, you should exercise more."

"No, you always protect me, Rody. What should I worry about?" "Training is too tiring," Nami said flirtatiously, feeling the strange aura dissipate. She stuck out her tongue and replied to Rody.

"Hmm, you're right, but you should train a little. While there's no need to fight, you should at least train a little so you don't feel powerless." Otherwise, you won't be able to withstand the aura of strong men, and that will be a bit troublesome." Rody stroked Nami's hair and said slowly, "Fine, fine, fine, I'll listen to you, my dear Lord Rody," Nami replied with a pout.

Ever since she started spending nights with Rody, perhaps because she had someone she could truly trust, although she still retained the lively personality of the original Nami, in front of Rody she behaved like a girl newly in love, very clingy and flirtatious, and didn't refute anything he recommended.

A bachelor for who knows how many decades, Crocus felt extremely dissatisfied when he saw him being fed dog food. He said impatiently, "I think it's quite inappropriate for two children to show affection to each other in front of an old man like me."

"Also, it's polite to say your name before asking a stranger something!" Hearing this, Rody and Nami didn't take the words seriously. The words of this old man who was getting closer and closer to death. Nami even kissed Rody on the cheek and said mischievously, "Grandpa, we're not showing empty affection. We truly love each other, right, Rody?"

Ignoring the dark-faced old man who was obviously upset, Rody smiled and replied, "HAHAHA, of course."

Nami smiled slightly at the sight of the old man's darkened face and stopped joking. "But I still apologize. I must introduce myself first. My name is Nami..."

Crocus sighed helplessly as he shook his head. "My name is Crocus, and I'm the keeper of the Twin Capes Lighthouse."

I'm 70 years old, a Gemini, and have type AB blood..." Crocus introduced himself seriously.

....

Listening to Crocus's long and awkward introduction, everyone was speechless. Nami was about to say something when Rody reached out to stop her.

Rody stepped forward and said with interest, "Hey, old man, I heard you were the doctor on Pirate King Gol D Roger's ship!"

CLICK

Rody cracked his neck and continued, "Come on, let's fight. Let's see how strong the crew that accompanied the Pirate King to Laug Tale is."

Rody, using Observation Haki, naturally sensed Crocus's strength, which, according to his observation, couldn't be considered weak at all, but certainly wasn't strong either.

Hearing Rody claim that this old man was actually a former member of the Pirate King's crew, everyone was stunned, except perhaps Bumblebee, a fellow from another world.

"Ehhhhhh!" exclaimed Jose and Leo, their eyes wide open in surprise.

"HOHOHOHOHOHO, what an unexpected twist! I never thought that as soon as I stepped onto the Grand Line, I'd run into a former member of the Pirate King's crew!" Carmen began to spin around in an exaggerated manner, extremely excited and surprised. She had barely arrived at the Grand Line, and surprises were already starting to come to her.

"Impossible! Seriously? This old man in strange clothes is actually the Pirate King's former ship's doctor!" exclaimed Nami, shocked.

Crocus was also surprised by the words of this boy with strange black markings on his face in front of him, but after a few seconds, he recovered and spoke slowly. "Although I don't know who you are or how you know my identity, it would be best if we didn't fight... after all, I have a feeling this might turn into a life-or-death battle." Crocus's face was solemn. His advanced Observation Haki could naturally sense the terrifying strength contained within Rody's body and the faint murderous aura emanating from him.

He knew that if he fought this boy, it would undoubtedly be a life-or-death battle, and he would undoubtedly lose, so he didn't dare fight Rody. After all, he was already old and all he wanted was to enjoy his old age.

I know you're very strong, Rody, but this old man was once a member of the Pirate King's crew, so he's definitely not a weakling. "I think we should forget about the fight," Nami advised with a worried tone.

Rody ignored Nami's advice and instead looked at Crocus strangely and asked, "Old Man, do you really not want to fight?"

Crocus nodded solemnly and said without hesitation, "Of course!"
