Ye Lan had just used Advanced Fire Release, partly to test the strength of his ninjutsu, but the other, and more important, reason was… to catch fish.
Ye Lan had been splashing around in the water for so long without catching a single fish, and he was naturally both angry and annoyed. Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck him, and he came up with this not-so-clever idea, an idea only a loser like Ye Lan could think of: using super-intense flames to "fry" the fish…
But it seemed that while Ye Lan was tired, the results were pretty good.
Seeing his impressive achievements, Ye Lan grinned and, in a moment of heat, jumped back into the water.
Who knew that this jump would be a disaster? The instant Ye Lan's foot touched the water's surface, his entire foot turned red!
Ye Lan suddenly remembered that because of him, the temperature of the river water nearby had long since reached a high that the normal human body couldn't withstand! But, Ye Lan had already jumped…
"Splash!"
Ye Lan didn't even have time to think before he jumped in…
The next moment…
"Awooooooo!!!!!!"
A shrill cry immediately echoed across the river…
After a while…
A head finally popped up on the riverbank.
It was, of course, the bedraggled Ye Lan…
Struggling to climb onto the bank, Ye Lan touched his body, which was red all over and still emitted the aroma of cooked meat. Tears welled up in his eyes…
He prided himself on being the most homebound and intelligent. Yet, he made such a rookie mistake.
He was so close to eating the fish, but Ye Lan had to jump into the river, and not only did he fail to catch any fish, he almost got cooked himself.
Fortunately, the Chakra in his body automatically came out and covered his entire body, otherwise, his condition would have been much worse.
Ye Lan lay on the ground for a while before gritting his teeth and getting up. With the circulation of Chakra in his body, he did feel much better than before.
And while he was lying down, his Chakra had recovered about seventy or eighty percent.
Ye Lan stood up again and used a long tree branch to scoop all the unconscious fish out of the river.
Then, Ye Lan used Advanced Fire Release to cook all the fish.
Looking at the Grilled Fish, which were golden brown all over, Ye Lan grabbed one and began to eat with gusto.
Soon, Ye Lan had devoured the dozen or so fish, leaving only the bones behind.
He was so full that he could barely move, and he flopped onto the ground, letting out a series of burps.
Lying there, a wave of sleepiness washed over Ye Lan.
It was true, as they said: a full stomach makes for a sleepy head.
Before long, Ye Lan was fast asleep.
But he didn't sleep for long before a frantic, desperate female voice pierced the air: "Help!"
Ye Lan was immediately jolted awake, leaping to his feet.
Could this be my chance to play the hero and rescue a damsel in distress?
Ye Lan's blood began to boil with excitement.
Then, he sprinted towards the source of the noise.
He then saw a beautiful girl with fair skin surrounded by two bald men with thick, fleshy bodies and leering expressions.
The girl had thick, black hair, the ends casually tied with a ribbon. She wore a light purple dress and had a pure, innocent aura. Even Ye Lan couldn't help but feel a little moved, not to mention those two stinking bald men who clearly weren't good people.
At this moment, she was terrified, constantly shouting for help, looking pitiful, like a wounded little white rabbit.
