On the tennis court, Rias and Sona—two high-class devils—locked eyes, sparks flying. Their competitive spirits burned so bright, you could almost see the aura shimmering around them.
Outside the fence, Draconis stifled a laugh. Seriously? This was their idea of a duel—tennis?
Given their devilish physical stats, playing a human sport felt a little... unfair, to say the least.
The match was set as women's doubles: Sona teamed up with her vice president, Tsubaki Shinra; Rias, of course, paired with Akeno. All four had swapped into sporty outfits—skirts and all—making for a scene that was downright dazzling.
As soon as Rias and the others stepped onto the court, passersby stopped in their tracks. Word spread like wildfire: Kuoh Academy's top beauties were about to play tennis. Within minutes, a crowd had gathered, eager for a glimpse of the action.
Draconis could only palm his forehead. "Talk about over the top..."
Koneko, standing nearby, heard him and stifled a giggle. She knew Draconis preferred keeping a low profile—this spectacle was the exact opposite.
On the court, Rias bounced a tennis ball in her hand. "Ready, Sona?"
"Bring it, Rias."
The tension was palpable. With Rias's serve, the match began.
Their skills were nothing short of professional—actually, scratch that. With devil physiology boosting every move, they'd blow any pro out of the water.
From the very first rally, the crowd was hooked. Cheers and screams echoed from every corner:
"President Sona! She's so cool!!"
"Rias-sama! Akeno-sama!!"
The four girls were the kind of beautiful that transcended gender—everyone was starstruck. The match itself was so intense, the audience was practically having a collective nosebleed.
Koneko watched the game, then leaned over to Draconis and murmured, "At least they can't use magic here."
Draconis let out a weary sigh. "Don't tell me you actually wanted them to..."
Before he could finish, Sona flicked her wrist and infused the tennis ball with magic. Suddenly, its trajectory twisted and danced in impossible ways.
The crowd erupted. "Whoa! President Sona's magic ball!"
Koneko just blinked in disbelief. Magic was being used, but the crowd chalked it up to "special technique." The masquerade was holding, but barely.
Draconis could only shake his head. Devils were already cheating by default—adding magic to the mix was just ridiculous. At this rate, if word got out, headlines would read: "Local High School Girls Obliterate National Tennis Team!"
Saji sidled up, pride written all over his face. "Our president and vice president are definitely going to win, don't you think?"
Draconis tilted his head. If it were just him, he wouldn't care, but with Rias involved, he couldn't let anyone talk down her side.
"I have faith in Rias and Akeno. No way they'll lose to your president."
"Oh? We'll see about that." Saji grinned, but then something caught his attention—Draconis had called Rias by her name. Directly.
Wait, wasn't this guy her servant? Since when were they that close?
Saji's mind spun with envy. If only he could get that close to President Sona... The fantasies started rolling—him and Sona, together, maybe even...
He crept closer to Draconis, curiosity burning. "Hey, bro, you and your master seem pretty tight?"
Draconis nodded, calm as ever. "We're alright."
"Just alright? You called Rias-sama by her name!" Saji nudged him with an elbow, eyes pleading. "How'd you manage that?"
Draconis looked genuinely puzzled. "It's just her name. Why make a big deal?"
"Of course it's a big deal!" Saji looked desperate. "She's your master! How do you get close enough for that? Please, teach me!"
Draconis paused, thinking it over. Then he deadpanned, "Rias and I are, well... about at the 'kiss-the-neck buddies' level."
"Huh!? Brothers-in-arms?" Saji blinked, not quite following.
"No. Kiss-the-neck. Buddies." Draconis enunciated each word.
Saji stared, confused—then the penny dropped.
Holy crap.
He gaped at Draconis like he was witnessing a living legend. "K-k-kiss-the-neck buddies? Is that what I think it means? Seriously?!"
Draconis just looked at him, expression flat. Why was this guy losing his mind?
"I said we're still a step short," he clarified. Neck was kissed, but nothing beyond that—just this morning, in fact.
"That's still insane!" Saji practically vibrated with excitement, suddenly bowing ninety degrees. "Master!!!"
Draconis: "...??"
Master? Was he talking to me?
Draconis gave Saji a deadpan look, thoroughly unimpressed. "Who the hell are you?"
"Master! Please accept me as your disciple—I want to learn how to do this!"
"...Get lost."
"Master!!"
"Go die," Draconis muttered, dodging Saji's grasp.
Koneko watched, bewildered. How had these two suddenly become best friends? Male friendship really was a mystery.
While Draconis was busy fending off his new "disciple," the match on the court had reached absurd levels. Magic-infused serves, broken rackets, and still—no clear winner.
Finally, Saji dashed over. "President! I think I'll skip catching a Familiar for now—let's give the chance to Master!!"
Sona: "...??"
Even Rias and the others were flummoxed, all eyes turning to Draconis. "...Master?"
Draconis: "..."
