Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 _ The Voice in Silence

Days passed, all looking the same.

But inside Bell's heart, time seemed to have stopped.

Ever since Thomas was gone, her life had turned into an empty room —

where once there was light, now only a shadow remained.

College, friends, classes — everything went on as usual,

but Bell herself was no longer the same.

She would often sit by the window,

staring at the sky,

where once she and Thomas used to meet in dreams.

Now there was only silence.

A silence that screamed louder than words.

Sometimes, when the wind touched her face,

she felt like someone whispered her name —

"Bell…"

Her heart would skip a beat,

but when she turned around, there was no one.

Only the whispering wind… and her own lonely heartbeat.

Bell's parents had become more protective than ever.

Her mother stayed close to her all the time,

and her father began coming home early from work —

afraid that their daughter might again lose herself

to the darkness of her past.

One night, her mother came to her room.

She gently ran her hand over Bell's head and said softly,

"My dear, we know you're brave.

Whatever happened… was just an illusion.

It's time to move forward now."

Bell looked at her mother and smiled faintly,

but her eyes — they held a sadness words couldn't hide.

"Yes, Mom… maybe it was just a dream."

Yet deep inside, Bell knew the truth —

Thomas was no illusion.

He was real.

He was hers.

The next day in college, Bell sat in the library.

A book lay open before her, but her mind was far away.

Suddenly, a small folded note slid under her book.

She froze, looking around — but no one was there.

Her heart began to race.

With trembling hands, she opened the note.

It said:

"I never left you… time just separated us."

Tears filled her eyes.

The handwriting — it was his.

Thomas's.

But how? How could it be?

She looked around once more,

but the world around her seemed frozen,

like time itself had stopped just to deliver that message.

At that moment, Bell felt something she hadn't in weeks —

hope.

She pressed the note close to her heart and whispered,

"I'll never forget you, Thomas…

Even if time changes, my love won't."

Outside, thunder rolled across the sky,

and the window glass trembled.

Suddenly, a familiar scent filled the room —

the same scent that once followed Thomas's presence.

Bell froze.

Her heart stopped for a second.

Could it be…

was he really coming back?
