**~Gabrielle's POV~**
Home is definitely not sweet.
Mother had just left my room, and I sat down, relieved that the headache had finally eased thanks to the pills she gave me.
I have to give birth to continue my bloodline? Azazel is haunting me? So many questions spun in my head—as if I didn't have enough already.
I paused and turned toward the wall, tears prickling at the corners of my eyes.
"Your powers can never come back."
Mother's voice echoed in my mind again and again.
I'll never be special. I'll never regain my powers. I told Lucien I'd help him, but how? What help can a powerless, broken wolf offer?
"Shut up, Gabrielle," I muttered to myself, but then I remembered the lantern—the day I turned it on and the surge of pain that followed.
Then it struck me: I hadn't taken the pills that day. Mother hadn't given me any.
My breath caught. Could the pills be the reason my powers and memories aren't returning?
