"From the looks of it, the unknown social entity is not weak…" Jonathan thought as he felt that aura of malice subtly gathering in the surroundings.
If it was not present in flesh and blood, how could they eliminate something like that? Which meant that the unknown dark entity was very strong, and at the very least difficult to eliminate.
This was something good, but also bad.
Considering the multiple casualties of agents and civilians in every dark entity that emerged, it was good that this time the damage and losses were limited to so few people.
"Sir, how did you know about what's happening to us?" the boy with glasses asked as he suddenly began to tremble.
"Well, it's not the first time we've faced the unknown. You only need to know that we are a team specialized in this kind of thing. So far, we are the only ones who can understand your situation," Jonathan said as he sat down in front of the students.
When he saw Jonathan say that, the boy immediately dropped to his knees.
He begged with tears and snot flowing uncontrollably from his eyes and nose.
"Thank you, sir. You have to save me!" The boy with glasses hugged Jonathan's thigh and cried uncontrollably.
The tall and handsome boy beside him was the high school student. However, at this moment, he could not care less about his reputation.
They had been tortured by the labyrinth for the past few days.
It had not been easy for him to find an opportunity to survive, so he had to seize it.
The tall boy also knelt down and begged.
"Get up first." As he spoke, Jonathan waved his right hand in the air.
"It's not time for you to despair yet. Don't kneel. It's easy to survive as long as you listen to me."
Elizabeth, her best friend, and the two boys nodded enthusiastically.
Even the young man in the corner remained silent and did not object.
"From now on, all of you must stay in this room. No matter what, you must not leave this place. If you notice anything abnormal, tell me immediately. It's best not to stay alone."
"We will be here to protect you. If you want to eat something, you can endure the hunger for a few hours. So the only thing you need to do is remain quiet and not talk. Either way, we're doing this to save your lives."
Seeing that no one had any objections, Jonathan stood up from the sofa and walked toward the door. "Come with me for a moment, Doug. We need to discuss something important."
"Yes, sir." Doug, who had been observing everyone in the room, said to the other agents, "Keep an eye on them."
"Understood," one of the agents replied.
"Considering that the dark entity hides within their dreams, the last measure we could take would be to end the suffering of those young people," Jonathan said as he saw Doug approach and pointed out, "It's the first time we've faced something like this. In my experience, I don't even know if what I'm about to do will save their lives."
"Sir… considering the personality of the dark entity, it wouldn't be prudent—" Just before Doug could continue his words, he was interrupted by Jonathan.
"We can't. Today it's those young people; next time it could be younger siblings or even the children of our companions. We'll do the best we can to save their lives, but we must always consider the worst," Jonathan interrupted Doug's words and returned to the room where the young people were sitting.
As he walked back to where the youths were, Jonathan sat down on the sofa and began to observe everyone.
Everyone seemed normal. Aside from the deep dark circles under their eyes that characterized them, no one appeared out of the ordinary.
Jonathan recalled that three of the students were in a coma, and then Elizabeth's parents.
He remembered that the dark entity acted in a very reserved manner. Considering that most would want to eat and hunt, this time its behavior was very restrained.
"Could it be possible that it's not strong enough to escape the dreams of the young people if it tries to enter that labyrinth?"
That could be likely. Then it could even die if it went in that direction.
However, it was far too early to deduce something so strange and complex.
Would the unknown dark entity allow the youths to escape through the door once they found it?
That was unlikely.
Combined with what he had seen this afternoon, this dark entity could feed on the negative thoughts and fear of its victims. After Elizabeth's body was controlled by the dark entity, her nightmares were immediate, which would give whatever was inside the dreams control over Elizabeth's body.
For Jonathan, the easiest thing would be to erase the spiritual mark and cut off any contact between that monster and these kids, but first he needed to know more.
"Boss, she's here." Doug's words pulled Jonathan out of his thoughts.
Wednesday entered the room where all the nervous students were staring at the armed men around them. She spotted Jonathan and approached him, gently brushing her hand against his chest and furrowing her brows.
She felt nothing strange, which surprised her. Because in every case she had been involved in with Jonathan, she always sensed some auras lingering around him.
"Can you see anything?" Jonathan wasn't even looking at Wednesday; he was scanning the surroundings, waiting for unwanted visitors.
