Chapter 167 - It’s a Job

Now this group of highly trained men and women—no, they should collectively be called special agents of the Church of Healing—possessed the necessary qualifications to face corporeal-class dark entities, conduct field investigations, and supervise highly complex missions.

At that moment, Jonathan looked at Doug and said, "We need to explain the second part…"

Doug nodded and pressed a button that turned on a huge screen beside Jonathan.

"Right now, you are considered a special elimination force against dark entities. All of your information will be encoded and encrypted. To the public, your job is to serve the country as ordinary agents of a private investigative institution approved by world governments. That is what we will be to the public and to those who question our work." After saying this, Jonathan gave the signal for a series of faces to appear on the screen.

"These people were highly experienced in eliminating dark entities. Weeks ago, an experienced Priest led an incursion in which they were misinformed. That small piece of incorrect information caused the entire team to be wiped out." Jonathan showed no sign of sadness. Instead, he looked at the agents in front of him with absolute authority.

Seeing the faces of all the fallen agents, countless people in the crowd were shaken. Very possibly, with bad luck and just a single mistake, they could be the next to fall in battle.

"For the families of these agents, they died saving the country. For us, they are warriors who held the banner high. They showed us that it doesn't take much to defend our human side. They taught me that my duty is to protect their friends, their children, and their parents." Jonathan roared with a powerful voice. "Our duty is to protect the future of our families, the future of your families, and the future of the next generations."

Instinctively, everyone felt a burning fire surge through their chests. They looked at the faces of the soldiers on the screen with nothing but respect.

"You have the opportunity to protect your family, friends, and young people with beautiful aspirations. The Church of Healing will take charge of extending the time during which dark entities remain hidden from the public." Jonathan did not say that they would prevent dark entities from ever being shown to the public, because that dream was highly unlikely to come true. Eventually, people would discover that there was something else in the world slowly devouring them. "And for that, we need to eliminate anything that is no longer human, regardless of whether it hides beneath the skin of a small child."

The new members of this new branch of the Church of Healing were not too confused by Jonathan's words. Many of them—even if only a few—had already previously come into contact with a dark entity.

Some had even been fortunate enough to eliminate a dark entity, arriving with their minds prepared for what needed to be done.

"I've been a bit lucky to stay alive until now, just as I'm lucky to be a Guardian with abilities beyond human comprehension," Jonathan thought to himself as he silently looked at everyone.

"You will all have credentials through which you can access highly classified information, videos about dark entities, incursions, and the latest weaponry." Paul pointed at the screen and displayed unique content.

"There are six different levels of dark entities. Personally, I have faced type-four dark entities. Based on my experience, I must say this: do not underestimate dark entities. If the monster, demon, or evil spirit has human skin, you must obey the orders given to you." Jonathan touched the purple cross on his chest and said, "Anyone who disobeys orders will only be met with a painful death."

"Now, all of you will be monitored by special groups such as the logistics departments, monitoring divisions, and the Eye of God, which is that thing that sees everything in this world. All of them work in unison to provide special information to the Church of Healing and, above all, to maintain the confidentiality of the information shown to you today."

After hearing Jonathan's words, everyone understood what this was about. If any of them leaked information to a third party, they would be discovered within seconds, making it clear that no breach of secrecy would be tolerated.

"Chief Priest…" Another person in the crowd raised his hand and asked, "Given that we are a secret force of the Church of Healing under your command, what kind of weaponry will we use? We couldn't fight those monsters with standard soldier equipment, right?"

"Well, that's a good question." Jonathan did not answer immediately. Instead, he looked at Doug and said, "First, have them put on their uniforms. Let's make the preparations—it's almost time."

After speaking, Jonathan left the meeting room, leaving behind a group of very confused people.

Doug made a standard military salute, took a deep breath, and shouted forcefully at all the soldiers present, "What are you still doing sitting there? Get your asses out of those seats right now! You heard what the Captain said—now all of you are agents of the Church of Healing! Now get out of here and go get your uniforms!"

"Move!"

Doug's roar startled the entire group of the Church of Healing, their minds racing. Instinctively, they stood up and gave a military salute, responding loudly, "Yes, sir!"

…

As Jonathan headed toward a special room for close-combat training, his thoughts continued to revolve around future problems.

First of all, he deeply believed that ordinary people should know about dark entities, yet on the other hand, he wanted to keep everything secret.

"Would it be safe in the future to reveal the existence of dark entities?" Jonathan thought as he analyzed the possibility of such a situation.

Across the world, it would be very difficult to conceal all the events involved in eliminating dark entities. Therefore, it was obvious that it was only a matter of time before the bomb exploded.

However, none of the governments were prepared for situations like those they had recently faced with dark entities.

Logistics departments unrelated to the Church of Healing had, until recently, been responsible for tracking dark entities and providing logistical information to a special group for elimination incursions.

Because everything was so sudden, there were not enough resources to keep up with the speed at which dark entities appeared. But now everything was different. The Church of Healing now handled both logistics and elimination, and the Eye of God—the largest monitoring weapon in the world, possessed only by the Association—would be responsible for monitoring the members so that none of them leaked confidential information.

The moment a soldier belonging to the Church of Healing leaked information, it would be considered treason and would eventually be punished with death in the most brutal way possible.

"This is exhausting…"

The only thing he could do now was keep his work in order. As the general captain of the Church of Healing headquarters throughout this city, his role was to lead the fight against dark entities that lurked in the heart of the city.

According to the information he had received, different departments in cities would open special Church of Healing divisions to keep the entire country protected. Therefore, as long as nothing out of the ordinary occurred, numerous former soldiers and police officers would be transferred to Church of Healing departments, increasing the country's security.

Looking at the information on the smart tablet, Jonathan examined the different team names that made up his unit.

Rapid Reaction Special Forces: Agents of the Light. This was a secret special unit created to eliminate dark entities that emerged around the world. Every member was a specialist in a specific field, making this command a perfect team for eliminating monsters.

The teams that made up each base were five: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Reserve. Each team consisted of twenty elite members, experts in different fields.

The entire unit was formed to be effective in elimination incursions and to be distributed in the most efficient way possible. All members of the base were led by a Guardian.

This information could be obtained quite easily, as long as one belonged to the Church of Healing unit.

"Guardian! Mr. Doug is waiting for you in the training hall. The equipment you requested earlier is already in the room." A logistics agent saluted Jonathan and delivered the information.

"Good, let's get started," Jonathan replied indifferently as he walked toward the training hall.
