Chapter 147 - The End and a Beginning

"You have come, Priest…" Daniela looked at Jonathan without any trace of fear.

Jonathan, who still had blood dripping down his arms, walked toward Daniela and asked her, "I don't know who you are, but you had the guts to speak my name, so who the hell are you?"

"¡Hahahah!"

Jonathan's expression grew cold, and just when he was about to exterminate this low-level entity that had managed to possess Daniela, the demon said some words that made him stop.

"You will die. The church you work for is going to betray you, and every member of your family will die when they find the tower."

"You are not a demon…" Beneath all that dark energy, there was light, and Jonathan could see it thanks to his great abilities.

"You have good eyes, Priest… Well, I'm not surprised. It was you who brought me into this world to warn you about the Church of Healing."

"What?" Jonathan extended his hand, and in an instant, all the windows slammed shut. Moments later, all the agents outside entered the mansion and began evacuating everyone.

"You're careful, but none of that will save your family… The creatures of the Mid-World don't know you're alive. They did the job once with the help of the Church of Healing."

"Mid-World…" Jonathan had heard that before.

Mid-World is a parallel world that is part of the multiverse connected by the Dark Tower.

It is not exactly a different planet, but an alternative version of Earth, located between other worlds like End-World and In-World.

If something like that exists, then everything makes sense.

The pieces missing from Jonathan's puzzle came together one after another.

The original Jonathan Belmont, being the best candidate to inherit the throne of the most powerful hunter family in the world, was attacked by the creatures of Mid-World.

In every reality, they seem to succeed, but only in one they failed—and that particular one is where he is now.

"Which version of me sent you?"

"That doesn't matter. Thanks to that version of you between worlds, I was able to free myself from the control of the Void and I was able to understand the portals that exist to travel between worlds. In all of them, they have been killed, but in this one, you survived."

Jonathan knew he had enemies in the darkness, but it turned out there were more than he could imagine. "So then?"

"You have the power to prevent the Dark Tower from being destroyed… When you die, the Todash Beasts attack your worlds until they turn them into dark stars. To prevent it, you must find Roland Deschain and help him exterminate the Crimson King."

"Look for Roland Deschain? We face our problems as they come to us—we are the Order." Jonathan, after saying that, whispered, "Now leave this body."

"Did you not hear me?"

"I don't listen to demons. Now, thanks to the information, I will make them ascend." Jonathan then extended his hand, and without waiting for another word, his divine power extinguished all evil.

"What?"

Jonathan took a deep breath, looked at the time, then at Daniela's appearance as she began returning to normal. "Even if help comes from a demon, it will not be acceptable."

Even if Balban were here, Jonathan wouldn't be deceived or manipulated with truths and lies.

The demon of deception is a figure that appears in various traditions, with Balban or Balan being one of the most well-known in demonology as the "demon of deception" or "king of deception," associated with lies and cunning, though there are also mentions of others like Demaraz in fiction.

In more general contexts, deception is seen as a tactic of the devil, who uses lies and discouragement to tempt people, as in the teachings about the "five wiles of the demon."

Christian tradition describes the devil using deception and lies to wear down and discourage people through prolonged trials and apparent crises, like the one mentioned regarding the Church.

That was exactly what this demon was doing, and Jonathan would not be naive enough to hold a conversation with a demon.
