Chapter 116 — Massacre

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Arrrgh!"

The vampires that had lunged at the soldiers immediately fell to the ground, met with silver bullets. All the soldiers considered nothing at that moment; they had a mission given by the Warden, and knowing they had lost two comrades, they fired.

At that moment, every soldier advanced deeper into the basement and those who could be captured were suppressed. But regardless of the outcome, there was no doubt a massacre was taking place in that place.

"Keep in line—do not attack in the direction where the Regent is fighting!"

"Understood, sir!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Ahhhhhh!"

A soldier let out a scream when a vampire grabbed him by the arm and threw him against a wall; then several more vampires appeared beside him trying to rip his arms off.

But at that moment, some soldiers advanced and fired at the bodies of those vampires that were behaving like dogs.

"Targets eliminated!"

"Neutralize the enemy on the right—fire!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Don't kill them—my brother is among them!"

An agent turned and saw a man entering as he headed toward the basement, raised his weapon to stop him, but a girl stepped between the shot. "What the hell are you doing down here? Get out right now!"

"I'm sorry, I'm really so sorry!"

The captain of Beta Team said, "Soldier, get those civilians out of here!"

"Don't keep them away—my brother is among those vampires!" Seth, who was being held back by Lisa, begged the soldiers because he had realized when Jonathan had ordered to kill all the vampires.

Richard was among the victims who were vampires, so he wanted to somehow stop those soldiers because they could kill his friend.

"Get out of here, now."

Meanwhile, deeper in, another fight was developing.

Crack!

Jonathan cut off Milo's left arm—Milo had tried to pierce his heart. Every movement the vampire made was felt by Jonathan, like a predator; despite being injured he paid no attention to the pain, focusing only on his prey.

Milo stopped holding back; his body revealed its ancient true form, and realizing he was facing a powerful enemy, he had to give everything or die there. In an instant he launched himself strangely at Jonathan and his powerful pack was aimed at his target's head.

Crack!

As Jonathan's hand movements shifted, a vigorous concentration of golden energy gathered with the help of his aura-control ability, and his telekinesis around him had wiped out the vast majority of vampires that had appeared on the scene.

Just as this slow attack of Jonathan's formed, fury showed on Milo's face—he felt a death threat right before his eyes. Knowing this, he changed his attack and struck Jonathan's leg hard trying to gain the advantage.

Crack!

Jonathan did not back down, gritted his teeth, and attacked with all his strength. Many soldiers nearby who were suppressing the enemies saw a very bright burst of light, which forced them to remove their night-vision goggles, and the entire basement was suddenly illuminated.

Everyone understood this was the ability of a supernatural being.

In the hands of someone like a Belmont, who would be afraid of vampires?

An intense light emerged from where Jonathan was fighting the vampire. At that same moment, that light—rather than killing the other vampires, limiting them—allowed the soldiers to take advantage of the moment to throw nets and pull them out of the basement.

While other eyes watched closely what was happening between Jonathan and the ancient vampire, the others began to move to help whenever an opportunity arose.

"Aaaahhhhhh!"

Under countless gazes, a figure flew out of the epicenter where the darkness was most intense. After spinning several times, that figure—wrapped in flames—landed on the ground. Its burning arms were held by a force very few could see, but to those with special sight there were bonds of light restraining the vampire.

"Die, vampire…" Jonathan charged at the vampire and, holding his sword, plunged it into his heart.

"No!"

No matter what the vampire pleaded, Jonathan knew he could not let such an ancient being live. His hand, wrapped in divine energy, made his sword shine to the eyes of others and gently pierced the vampire's heart.

"You are one of them—a balance between good and evil…" Milo coughed blood, but felt no fear.

The darkness surrounding him grew more intense. Jonathan, his face stained with blood, extended his hand and a black darkness began to surround Milo's body, consuming him slowly.

"Die and be reborn as a better person; death will surely forgive you for all you did in life," Jonathan said as he gave the vampire a painless death.

"Ha, ha, ha… Do you think I can be forgiven?" Milo spat a mouthful of blood and, as his body disintegrated, murmured, "Thank you for believing that, even if it's a lie…"

As soon as Milo died, the vampires in the vicinity were exterminated.

"I was only trying to be polite," Jonathan said as his wounds visibly healed.

"Sir, shall we begin the cleanup operation?"

"Place the bombs as close as possible—we must erase all evidence in this place," Jonathan said, understanding they didn't have much time to waste.
