Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Passing Down the Wind God Kick

"Naruto?"

The blond boy looked up to see Konohamaru skid to a halt right in front of him, panting with excitement.

"Naruto big brother, come train with me!" Konohamaru's eyes were shining with anticipation.

Naruto raised a brow. Konohamaru's muscles were well-defined, his figure taller and sturdier than his usual companions, Moegi and Udon, who trailed behind him. Years of taijutsu drills had sculpted his body into something clearly stronger than his peers'.

"Where's Ebisu?" Naruto asked curiously, tilting his head.

Ebisu, the special jōnin handpicked by the Third Hokage to teach his grandson, was not particularly powerful but was known for his all-around knowledge and fundamentals. In many ways, he was like a weaker, watered-down Kakashi. Perfect for teaching the basics.

But Konohamaru just waved dismissively. "His training's nothing compared to yours, big bro."

He had seen Naruto flatten Ebisu with a single move once, and from that moment, his admiration had been sealed. That was the day he began calling Naruto "big brother."

Later, when Ebisu tried to save face and challenge them again, Sasuke had casually beaten him down as well. From then on, Konohamaru decided Sasuke was his "second brother."

Naruto grinned. "So, how long have you been keeping up your taijutsu training?" he asked, reaching out to squeeze Konohamaru's arm and leg.

"About two years now," Konohamaru answered honestly.

Naruto withdrew his hand with a satisfied nod. He could feel the effort in Konohamaru's build. This kid hadn't been lying. The brat who once talked big but lacked substance had actually stuck with one of the hardest training paths.

Taijutsu was brutal. Unlike flashy ninjutsu or deceptive genjutsu, taijutsu took years of grinding repetition before showing results. Only those with strong willpower could endure it. Guy-sensei had tested Naruto's spirit the same way before accepting him as a disciple.

"Not bad," Naruto said with approval. "Then you're ready to learn an actual technique."

Konohamaru's eyes lit up. "You mean your Wind God Kick, big bro?"

Ever since he had watched Naruto unleash that technique in a duel with the Third Hokage, he had dreamed of learning it.

Naruto thought for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah. You've earned it."

This was the old man's grandson. And since the boy kept calling him "big brother," Naruto figured he might as well treat him like family.

"Shadow Clone!"

A copy of Naruto popped into existence. "This one will teach you," the original said before turning back to his sealing techniques. As for Moegi and Udon, Naruto barely glanced at them. They were Konohamaru's underlings, not his.

The clone beckoned Konohamaru aside and began the lesson.

"The Wind God Kick is my own creation," Clone Naruto explained. "You've got wind nature chakra, right? To unleash its full potential, you'll need to refine that affinity to the extreme. Wind chakra isn't just a tool for ninjutsu it can flow into your body, into your movements. Fuse it with taijutsu, and you'll strike faster, sharper, deadlier. That should be your training goal."

Konohamaru nodded eagerly.

"This style turns your legs into storms," Clone Naruto continued. "You'll move like lightning, strike like a hurricane. The enemy won't even see you coming. Before your body arrives, your power will already be there."

Konohamaru's eyes gleamed with hunger. "Thank you, Naruto big brother!" He bowed deeply.

Naruto's clone smirked and suddenly released a terrifying aura.

Around his legs, a visible swirl of azure wind chakra ignited, whirling with a low, feral howl. Pebbles and dust lifted from the ground, pulled into the miniature cyclone that wrapped his limbs.

"Watch closely. This is the Wind God Kick!"

His body blurred out of sight. Only a streak of pale blue remained, a phantom trace cutting through the air. In an instant, he was at the training post yards away.

The world seemed to lose track of him. He was everywhere at once one second across the yard, the next perched lightly atop a wooden stake, then flitting to another. His steps were too swift to follow, like a dragonfly skimming water, leaving behind nothing but fading afterimages.

Then, without warning, he stopped dead.

His right leg lashed out like a whip. The wind chakra compressed around his foot into a sharp, tangible blade.

"Boom!"

The heavy post didn't just snap it exploded. Shards of timber burst outward like shrapnel, a testament to the terrifying power speed could generate.

Before the debris settled, Naruto launched again. His legs blurred into a storm of strikes, each kick creating a sharp, thunderous crack. It was as if a hundred phantom legs attacked at once, every blow packing real destructive force.

The forest rang with the sound of pounding drumbeats as multiple trees groaned under the flurry, bark shredded, trunks gouged by the wind's edge.

Then he twisted into the air, spinning like a human cyclone. The condensed wind chakra screamed against the air, compressing tighter and tighter until it shrieked like tearing metal.

He came crashing down upon a massive boulder.

"CRASH!"

The rock shattered into fragments, hurled outward by the impact. Smoke and grit filled the training ground, but Naruto wasn't finished.

He spun again, faster than before, transforming his body into the eye of a raging tornado. The vortex ripped across the clearing, dragging sand, wood, and stone into its fury. The storm advanced like a living beast, tearing apart everything in its path.

Even Konohamaru's breath caught in his throat. He recognized this move. It was the same one Naruto had once used against the Hokage.

Finally, the clone's legs glowed with blinding light. He roared, his voice echoing across the battlefield. "Gale God's Wrath!"

From his kick surged a colossal crescent of wind, so sharp it carved a trench into the earth itself. Trees, rocks, and debris along its path disintegrated as if sliced by an invisible guillotine.

The blast traveled until it reached the forest edge, then dissipated with a piercing shriek. In its wake remained only silence, a scar gouged into the landscape.

The winds died down. Dust settled.

The clone landed gracefully, arms folded behind his back, every inch the master. His legs still glimmered faintly with chakra as he faced the trembling Konohamaru.

"The essence of the Wind God Kick is not destruction," the clone said calmly. "It is freedom. To strike like the wind, you must move without hesitation. To wield its strength, you must guard the ones you love, not abuse the power. That is what I entrust to you today."

His words, coupled with the sight of the devastated training field, burned themselves into Konohamaru's heart. The boy's fists clenched. His chest rose and fell with excitement, his eyes blazing brighter than ever before.

He nodded fiercely, unable to speak. His mind replayed every kick, every roar of the storm, every scar carved into the earth.

With a pop, the shadow clone vanished.

Back at the sealing scrolls, the original Naruto winced, clutching his stomach. "Great. Used up all my chakra again," he muttered, lips twitching. "Guess I inherited somebody's show-off personality in there."

Far away, Sasuke and Hinata, who had been training quietly, both turned to watch. Sasuke's eyes narrowed with a spark of challenge. Hinata's lips parted in awe.

And Konohamaru? His heart was still racing, his body trembling with adrenaline, his gaze locked on the ravaged clearing. He had been given a glimpse of a storm and one day, he swore, he would command it himself.
