Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Devil Fruit Blooms and Bears Fruit

Inside the island, Finn and Roger were busy roasting a large fish.

Redfield began woodworking, preparing to build Whitebeard a suitable chair.

Looking at the bizarre scene before him, Whitebeard even felt like he had gone mad.

Pirate King Roger, who had just died, was not only resurrected but was also roasting fish.

Redfield, who had killed countless people, was doing woodworking, and for him, Whitebeard, no less?

Even more terrifying, he had lost an arm the moment he arrived here.

No one would believe any of these three things if they were told.

"Come on, time to eat."

Finn's call pulled Whitebeard's thoughts back. Behind him, Roger walked over, carrying a roasted fish skewered on a tree branch.

Upon hearing Finn's summons, Redfield quickly hammered in the last few nails.

Whitebeard watched them approach and instinctively stood up, stepping forward to help tidy up the surroundings.

"Here, Whitebeard, your chair."

"Oh."

Mechanically taking the chair, Whitebeard waited for Finn to sit down before slowly taking his own seat.

After all, the two monsters beside him did the same.

But strangely, after Finn sat down, Redfield and Roger did not sit.

While he was still hesitating, three little darlings suddenly appeared before Whitebeard's eyes.

Monsters—they must be monsters.

There must be something strange about this island.

Whitebeard became even more certain of what he was thinking.

At the table, Finn tore off four pieces of meat and threw them to Kuro, letting Kuro distribute them himself.

Kuro fairly distributed the meat to Pika and Ann, then took two pieces of meat and ran to the fish pond, throwing one piece in.

Finn was very happy watching the heartwarming scene.

This world is already strange enough; my pets are becoming more and more like humans.

Watching Kuro leave, Redfield and Roger slowly took their seats.

Finn proactively tore off a piece of meat for Whitebeard and warmly greeted him, "Come, try it?" How is it?"

Whitebeard took the fish meat, forcing a slight smile onto his face.

"Thank you."

With one bite, the aroma of the fish instantly filled his mouth. Satisfied, Whitebeard's expression drastically changed the next second.

He suddenly stood up, his tall body enveloped in red mist, his cape fluttering continuously behind him.

Finn looked at Whitebeard, whose veins were bulging and entire body was red, and asked with concern, "Are you allergic to seafood? You're so red?"

Redfield and Roger cautiously watched Whitebeard; beneath that redness was a powerful aura of blood.

At this moment, Whitebeard's power was incredibly strong.

The next moment, Whitebeard roared, his cape instantly shattered, and a crimson left arm extended from where his arm had been severed.

Finn gasped in surprise.

"Wow, is it magic? That's really amazing. No wonder you lost an arm the moment we met; I thought it was a custom, but it was magic, hahaha."

Redfield had long been accustomed to Finn's eccentric habits, but seeing Finn so happy, he felt quite envious of Whitebeard.

Because on this island, anything Finn touched with his own hands would carry some special power.

Those who received it always benefited greatly, and Redfield was one of them.

Because now, he no longer needed to drink blood, and he was not even afraid of seawater or Sea Stone anymore.

Whitebeard felt the surging power within his body in surprise, looking at Finn with a terrified expression.

"Thank you."

"Thanks?"

Finn was puzzled. Whitebeard was about to say something else but was stopped by Redfield.

"Whitebeard, how much do you think this meal is worth?"

"How much?"

Whitebeard hesitated for a moment, but looking at Finn's expectant eyes, he spoke as if possessed.

"One hundred million? No, it's worth a billion Berries."

"A billion? A meal of fish costs a billion?"

Finn jumped up happily, his eyes full of money.

But looking at Red's matter-of-fact expression, he reconsidered; perhaps the prices in this world were very high, or the currency was worthless.

Little did he know that in the hearts of Redfield and Whitebeard, the matter of enhancing strength and regrowing a severed arm, let alone a billion, or even ten billion, would not be an exaggeration.

Just as Finn felt a slight discrepancy, Redfield looked at Whitebeard playfully and said, "Whitebeard, since you said it, then you'd better prepare the money."

Finn's eyes lit up. Money! This was the first legitimate customer since his little resort opened for business.

"Alright, Whitebeard, since you're the first customer, I'll give you a 10% discount—no, an 80% discount. It's a small business, so please don't mind," Finn said a bit awkwardly.

Whitebeard agreed without the slightest hesitation.

Finn happily pointed to the remaining fish. "Come, enjoy it slowly. If you have friends in the future, you can introduce them to us, but you need to hurry; this island will slowly move, and who knows where it will drift to in the future?"

Finn sighed and turned to leave.

As dusk fell, colorful lights began to illuminate the island. Although faint, they made the island look less cold.

Roger ate by himself, and after finishing, he continued his hammering and knocking work.

Whitebeard looked at the departing Roger, his gaze complex, and then settled on Redfield.

"Roger is also because..." Whitebeard pointed in the direction Finn had left and said.

"That's right, everything here is because of Pika-daren."

Redfield deeply felt Whitebeard's surprise, but Pika-daren's mystery was not something they could explore.

But at this moment, Whitebeard had no trace of a strong person's demeanor; like a curious child, he continued to ask, "Those few just now?"

Redfield quickly made a shushing gesture.

Perhaps because Finn had a good impression of Whitebeard, Redfield changed his previous relationship with Whitebeard and had no intention of harming him at this moment.

"You'd best not know. Trust me, you wouldn't want to know. Moreover, those few are all Pika-daren. Here, besides Finn-daren, there are those four Pika-daren. Be respectful, respectful."

"..."

After a while, Whitebeard, full of doubts, came before Finn to bid farewell.

At first, Finn thought they hadn't talked well, but when Whitebeard said he was going to get money, he immediately put everything else out of his mind.

He even had Redfield escort Whitebeard out and help him get the money.

Of course, Finn was also afraid that this first customer would try to run off without paying.

A moment later, Whitebeard and Redfield returned to the island, but this time Finn was no longer at the cabin.

This situation was not new; Finn would occasionally wander around the vast island.

Even with their peak Observation Haki, they couldn't locate Finn.

"Then I won't go to bid farewell to Pika-daren, Redfield. I will keep what happened here a secret."

As Whitebeard turned to leave, Redfield calmly said, "You can't leave."

"Can't leave? What do you mean?"

Whitebeard couldn't sense Redfield's hostility, but he didn't understand what he meant.

"Come on, follow me to find Pika-daren. This island can only be entered, not exited. If you want to leave, you must get Pika-daren's permission. Last time I went to rob Roger, I had already asked Pika-daren for leave."

Whitebeard was incredulous. Only entry, no exit. Was this the island's ability or Pika-daren's ability?

Mechanically following Redfield's footsteps, the two slowly searched for Finn on the island.

Suddenly, a strange light shot towards them. Whitebeard instinctively tried to block it but was instantly sent flying.

"Kid, do you want to die?"

Pika's voice echoed in Whitebeard's ears. Still a bit disoriented, Whitebeard looked at the familiar bird before him and then at the respectful Redfield, instantly understanding what the other party had meant earlier.

This monster before him, besides being able to speak, possessed terrifying power that seemed capable of instantly killing him.

If one was this terrifying, what about the others?

Especially Kuro, who was clearly the leader of the four, should be even more terrifying.

Whitebeard no longer dared to think further. This inconspicuous small island actually contained terrifying power capable of crushing any force in the world.

"Pika-daren, do you know where Finn-daren went?"

"My master? He's looking after that strange fruit tree. It seems to have borne fruit just now."

"Strange fruit tree?" Redfield momentarily forgot something.

Pika gave Redfield a helpless glare, gently patted his head with her wing, and said with a hint of admonishment, "Your brain must have too much water in it. Have you forgotten? You were the one who brought the seed of that strange fruit."

"Devil Fruit?"
