Chapter 121 - The Storm Approaches

He drove slowly, heading toward his house.

Soon, he arrived at the doorstep.

The courtyard gate opened automatically as he returned, and he drove the car inside, parking it.

When he stopped the car, he didn't immediately get out. Instead, he glanced around.

That's when he saw Iris holding a watering can, tending to the flowers.

Seeing this, Chen Xi raised an eyebrow.

He was a little surprised—she was actually watering the garden in the courtyard. It was almost unbelievable.

But Chen Xi only slightly raised his eyebrow before looking away.

As if he hadn't noticed Iris in the courtyard at all, he walked straight into the house.

He tugged at the tie around his neck as he entered.

He removed his coat.

Seeing this, Qin Gelei immediately came over to take the coat from him.

"Darling, did anything unpleasant happen at the government today?"

Qin Gelei's face was full of concern as she looked at Chen Xi.

He raised an eyebrow slightly. "Why would anything happen?"

Seeing him so relaxed, it was clear that everything had gone smoothly, and there was no reason to worry.

With nothing to worry about, she felt relieved.

She didn't discuss politics further and instead focused on Iris, who now lived with them.

"That woman doesn't seem to be up to anything unusual. We've been keeping an eye on her all along."

Qin Gelei recalled the events from that morning and spoke with a calm expression.

If Iris had acted suspiciously, they might have stayed vigilant.

But she was acting entirely normal, leaving them unsure how to proceed.

"No need to stare at her all the time. Let her do whatever she wants."

Watching her closely would have no effect—just like how Iris observed them.

Could a few hours of observation really reveal anything?

Chen Xi didn't think so.

Some people live together for decades, even centuries, without truly understanding each other. How much could one learn in less than a day?

Chen Xi shrugged.

If Iris wanted to observe him, to try and find flaws…

Of course.

Why did he know this?

How could he not?

Iris's behavior was obvious; anyone could see what she was thinking.

He didn't know what those gods were made of—glue, perhaps?

Did they really think they could find his weaknesses just by observing him?

If he wanted, he could give them hundreds of flaws.

But could they tell which were real and which were fake?

Chen Xi shook his head, finding their ideas utterly unreliable. He didn't expose them, though.

Watching them spin in circles, wasting effort—it was kind of entertaining.

The weather had been clear for days, without a cloud in the sky—a perfect climate. But one day, the sky suddenly darkened. Heavy rain was coming.

Such sudden changes are hard to control. Nature couldn't be manipulated easily.

Even if they could temporarily influence it, they couldn't maintain control forever. Rain wasn't entirely a bad thing either.

They anticipated rain, but didn't expect it to be so heavy that it flooded the city. How could this happen?

This was a disaster, not a natural occurrence.

In centuries, the city had never seen such devastation.

The wind roared, thunder boomed, and the rain fell relentlessly, striking painfully against people's faces.

Ordinary humans tried to use umbrellas, but they were useless in the storm. The wind would tear them away.

Thunder and lightning forced anyone venturing out to stop and seek shelter, either in their homes or workplaces.

"No one knows how long this rain will last. If it continues too long, all work will be forced to halt."

"But the situation isn't too bad,"

People thought privately.

They believed it wasn't too serious, but in reality, it was already severe.

As the storm pounded down and lightning struck buildings, one bolt hit a power station, plunging the entire city into darkness.

"F**k! My design files are gone!"

An office worker clutched his head, refusing to believe that the documents he had painstakingly worked on for nights were now gone.

"This is a disaster! The meeting hasn't even finished, and the power's out. Where's the backup generator?"

Government offices descended into chaos. Officials shouted loudly, frustrated by the sudden accident.

It was still early; many people hadn't even eaten breakfast yet.

"Suddenly, this happens… are we supposed to starve now?"

The scene was beyond anyone's expectation. People scrambled to remedy the situation.

They took out their phones, attempting to call government numbers.

But all phones had no signal.

Even emergency calls couldn't go through.

Mutants suited for such situations acted immediately, trying to resolve the power outage.

But the storm's intensity obscured their vision, making it impossible to find their way.

"What should we do?"

"Should we go find Chen Xi?"

"How? We can't even tell directions. This is a natural disaster; even if we find him, it won't help."

Some laughed at how people always wanted to find Chen Xi for every problem.

Although Chen Xi was strong, even the greatest gods couldn't control the weather.

Asgard had deployed protective measures, so they weren't affected by the storm.
