Chapter 55 - DSPH Chapter 55: The Promise

Medicine?

Logically, Shinobu didn't think one pill could do much. But now, she would grab at any straw.

"Sister!"

Shinobu carefully brought the red pill to Kanae's lips.

Kanae didn't think a pill could cure her injuries either, but she didn't want to reject Mr. Aomura's kindness. She opened her mouth and swallowed the pill.

At first, she didn't notice anything, but her expression soon changed.

It felt like a fireball had appeared in her body. Warmth flowed from her chest to her limbs.

Kanae's pale face turned rosy quickly. Her weak heartbeat grew stronger, and her breathing became steady.

She instinctively used her breathing technique to absorb the medicine and control her injuries.

The feeling of dying faded like snow in the sun. Small wounds even started to scab over.

"This, how is this possible?" Kanae was shocked.

A pill the size of a soybean had such miraculous effects. It defied her understanding.

Shinobu cried with joy. "That's great, Sister! That's great!"

She thought it was just a straw to grasp, but a miracle had happened.

Overwhelmed with joy, she couldn't control her emotions.

Aoki warned, "Don't celebrate too soon. You still need proper medical treatment."

Kanae looked much better, but it was just the pill's power. Her injuries weren't healed yet.

Kanae knew her condition, but she was still amazed.

She had been about to die. The pill had pulled her back from hell.

As a doctor, she knew how incredible this was.

She also knew how precious this medicine was.

"Thank you for saving my life, Mr. Aomura," Kanae said gently and seriously.

"Thank you for saving my sister!" Shinobu wiped her tears.

Her face was young, and her eyes were red. She looked pitiful, even though she was serious.

Shinobu was only fourteen, and her small size made her look even younger.

Aoki looked at her for a moment, then turned to Kanae. "You're welcome. I had a reason for saving you!"

"Reason?" Kanae was surprised. "Is there something you need us to do, Mr. Aomura?"

Aoki shook his head. "You'll know later!"

He only had three Qi and Blood Pills.

He had given one away partly because the two of them, especially Shinobu, had helped Takina and Aunt Rie.

But they seemed to only know about his time in Asakusa. They hadn't found out his real identity.

So, he wouldn't reveal it himself.

The fewer people who knew a secret, the better.

The Butterfly sisters looked puzzled.

Aoki stood up straight and looked out of the alley. "Okay, go get treated. I should leave too."

"Mr. Aomura, please wait!"

Kanae stood up quickly, ignoring her injuries, and grabbed Aoki's hand.

Aoki said, "Don't get excited. If you worsen your injuries, the medicine will be wasted!"

Kanae took a breath but didn't let go. She said seriously and gently, "I have something important to discuss with you."

Aoki looked at her sincere eyes and thought for a moment. "Okay, go get treated first. Let's meet here again in two weeks!"

Kanae shook her head. "One week is enough!"

Pillars were extremely strong. They weren't as good as demons, but their healing was much better than ordinary people's.

"Okay, see you in seven days!"

Aoki nodded slightly to them and vanished.

"Sister, is that the ability you mentioned?" Shinobu's eyes widened. She hadn't seen how Mr. Aomura left.

Kanae nodded, her eyes shining. "Shinobu, did you notice? Mr. Aomura is different from other demons. He doesn't have a decaying aura, and his eyes don't have that hungry look..."

Mr. Aomura was different.

Shinobu agreed, but there was something more important now. She interrupted her sister.

"Sister, we should go back to the Butterfly Mansion. You need treatment!"

"Okay!" Kanae agreed readily. "I need to heal quickly. I have to meet Mr. Aomura in seven days!"

Her injuries were still severe, but with a Pillar's body and their medical skills, she was no longer in danger.

That's why she was so relaxed.

Shinobu carried Kanae on her back and hurried towards the Butterfly Mansion.

"Sister, you said you met Upper Moon Two. How strong is he?"

Kanae's expression turned serious. "Very strong! Stronger than we knew!

He didn't use his full power during our fight, but I could barely fight back.

It would take at least three Pillars working together to fight him!"

There were only eight Pillars in the Demon Slayer Corps. They couldn't stop three Upper Moons.

And above the Upper Moons was the even more terrifying Muzan.

Shinobu felt worried. "What about Mr. Aomura?"

"Mr. Aomura is stronger than Upper Moon Two!"

Kanae remembered the fight.

They hadn't fought for long, but Mr. Aomura had been winning.

Shinobu wasn't surprised.

Mr. Aomura had killed an Upper Moon before.

She thought of something else. "Sister, should we report this to Master?"

"Not yet!"

Kanae refused without hesitation. "I don't know why, but Mr. Aomura is clearly kind and friendly to us, especially to you, Shinobu."

Shinobu looked puzzled.

She had noticed it too. Mr. Aomura seemed more interested in and closer to her than her sister.

Her sister was more proactive and friendly, but Shinobu had even tried to attack him.

Kanae continued, "If we reveal Mr. Aomura's information, it might ruin his impression of us. It's not worth it.

It's only a few days. Let's talk to Mr. Aomura first, get his permission, and then tell Master!"

Shinobu nodded in agreement.

Mr. Aomura had saved her sister, which meant he had saved her too.

She hoped Mr. Aomura was a "good demon," like her sister thought.

She didn't want to fight him.

It was best to stay friends.
