Chapter 25 - DSPH Chapter 25: Meeting a Real Demon

Aoki walked towards the dojo, unhurried, bathed in moonlight.

His emotions had settled.

The world's problems were endless. He couldn't solve them all.

Besides, he was a demon now, an "other." If the truth came out, people would fear him more than those monsters.

He had to live his own life.

Aoki Dojo came into view.

He was about to step inside. An arm grabbed his, pulled him aside.

"Come on! Quick!"

Akiyama Keisuke's voice was urgent.

Aoki let him pull. "What's wrong, Keisuke?"

"I'll tell you later! We need to..."

Keisuke stopped.

A group of men blocked their path.

"Where are you going?" Fujita Seiyu grinned, looking triumphant.

He'd waited all day. He'd finally caught him.

Two police officers stood to his left. The long-faced young man and others stood to his right. They all looked angry, ready for a fight.

Keisuke's face was grim. "Fujita, this was just a sparring match. You don't need to do this.

I apologize for Aomura. If you want something else, just say it."

Aoki ignored Fujita Seiyu. He looked at Keisuke.

This young man was kind, honest, and adaptable. He was wiser than he seemed.

"Keisuke, this has nothing to do with sparring. We're here to catch a demon!"

Fujita Seiyu stressed the word "demon."

"Catch a demon? Me?"

Aoki blinked. He turned, puzzled.

What was going on?

Had he been exposed?

He didn't see any Demon Slayers. Just two police officers. They thought they could catch him?

Fujita Seiyu didn't speak.

A police officer stepped forward. He spoke sternly. "We suspect you're connected to the disappearances. You need to come with us for questioning!"

Aoki thought.

"So you have no proof. You're just blaming me."

Normal people wouldn't talk to a demon like this.

These people didn't know what demons were.

Otherwise, they wouldn't say such foolish things, do such foolish things.

Too bad for them. They were too late.

If they'd tried this yesterday, they might have annoyed him.

Fujita Seiyu sneered. "Who says we have no proof? Your eyes! They're a demon's mark. Normal people don't have eyes like that! You wear a hat all the time. You're hiding your demon form!"

Aoki's face was strange.

If they hadn't shown they knew nothing about demons, he might have been worried.

They'd made this up?

They were talented.

The long-faced young man sneered. "He wasn't at the dojo all day. He was out hurting people. Officer, arrest him now."

The police officers looked at each other. They took out their weapons, walked towards Aoki.

"Come quietly. Don't resist!"

"Wait!"

Keisuke started to speak. Aoki stopped him.

"I'll handle this, Keisuke."

He walked forward, looked at the police officers.

Their eyes met his. The golden slits made them flinch. They slowed.

Then, they were angry.

They'd been scared by a look!

They drew their weapons, pointed them at Aoki. One officer shouted, "Don't move! Or we'll shoot!"

Fujita Seiyu called out, "Officers, be careful! He knows martial arts. He's ruthless. He might fight back!"

The long-faced young man grinned. "Need help, officers?"

"Yeah! We can help!" Fujita Seiyu rubbed his hands, eager.

The police officers knew why they were here. They nodded. "Good! We need your help."

Fujita Seiyu and the others moved closer.

Then, a shadow flickered.

Thwack!

Two arms flew into the air, clutching weapons.

The police officers' faces went from blank to shocked. They twisted in pain, opened their mouths.

Thump, thump!

Aoki kicked.

They flew through the air, landed hard. They clutched their bloody stumps, screamed.

"Ah!"

Fujita Seiyu and the others froze. Then, they stumbled back.

"You... You hurt the police?"

"I didn't kill them. I was being nice," Aoki said.

He looked at Fujita Seiyu, his voice cold. "What's your connection to the Fujita family? Fujita Steel?"

Fujita Seiyu swallowed. Something was wrong. "My uncle is a manager at Fujita Steel. I'm part of the Fujita family. If you hurt me, the Fujitas will never forgive you!"

"The Fujitas deserve to die!" Aoki's voice dropped.

Yagihime Society was a Fujita creation, a den of dark desires.

Not just sex.

Darker, more twisted things.

He couldn't judge every Fujita. But he wouldn't spare this one.

"What?"

Fujita Seiyu blinked. Then, thwack! His head flew. Hot blood sprayed, covered the others.

The long-faced young man, closest to him, was soaked in blood. He froze.

Thump!

Fujita Seiyu's head hit the ground, rolled.

"Ah!"

The others screamed, broke. They ran.

"Stop!" Aoki's voice echoed in the night.

They froze. They turned, looked at him, terrified.

"Tell me what happened. Why did you frame me?"

They all looked at the long-faced young man.

The long-faced young man's face crumpled. He cried. "No! Not me! I didn't want to hurt you! It was Seiyu! It was Fujita Seiyu! He made me do it!"

"No! He suggested it!"

A friend betrayed him. "He made the plan!"

"You betrayed me?"

The long-faced young man's eyes burned. He lunged at his friend.

The friend was scared. He kicked, punched. "Get away! It's your fault! You did this! Now you're hurting us! Die!"

The others joined in. They were venting their fear, trying to prove themselves to Aoki.

The long-faced young man fell. They kicked him, beat him.

Then, he clutched his throat. His face twisted. It turned purple. He went limp.

The others stopped, looked down. They gasped, terrified.
