Having a gigantic jaw full of teeth come right at you ready to devour you can be a good wake-up call.
Especially, when a friend is the one that's trying to eat you.
Adrenaline courses through my body and I dodged to the side, just in time as Daud's head collided with the wall i was previously leaning against.
"Ahsoka!"
"I'm okay! Get the children out of here!" When I said that, Daud seemed to have understood me in some way and turned to the two babies in the cribs.
Daud gave Master Skywalker a glare strong enough to make even him hesitate for a moment, but knowing my Master, that won't stop him.
Daud roared as he charged forwards, and Master did the same.
When they were only a few meters away from one another, Master grabbed both the children and did a barrel roll directly under Daud's closing maw.
"Let's go!"
"What about him?"
"We'll figure out how to deal with him later. Get the kids to the ship and have R2 take off on his own."
I nodded at his words as I took the both of kids from his arms, we looked back and saw that Daud had already turned around.
"Is it just me, or is he smaller?" I spoke aloud voicing what I saw as Daud's once large form shrank and lost his wings to become more sleek.
"Ah damn, Ahsoka, he can shapeshift!"
"Well else all knew that already!"
"No, I mean he's faster now! And his durability and other abilities he can still use like that!"
"Oh…" that's when I realised where the danger came from.
"Run!" As he said that, Daud who now had a form of a four legged hound bursted out into a full sprint towards us.
The two of us split up and ran down the hallways, however it seemed he was entirely focused on me.
I jumped over the large missing hallway that we had traveled down on our way here, that's when I had an idea!
I immediately turned around and saw that he was getting ready to make the jump across right after me.
"Daud, I'm sorry for this!"
I ran towards him and as he was jumping mid air, I did as well and landed my boot on top of his head, as I pushed downwards with all my might, unbalancing him in the air, while also using him as a stepping stone to jump across to safety.
Daud plummeted downwards and only one of his front limbs was able to grasp the edge, but the density of his scales and body was simply too much and the platform he was holding onto gave way as he plummeted downwards into the magma below.
'Please be okay! Please be okay! Please be okay!'
[Ahsoka, where are you?] Master Skywalker's voice came from my communicator.
"I'm heading towards the Darkghast room, have R2 come there, I've pushed Daud into the Magma below, I don't know how long it will stall him."
[Copy that, I'll he-]
My senses flared as I rolled to avoid a threat I felt was coming.
I looked to where I was and nothing but roaring golden flames remained, flames that wouldn't go out and were definitely not ordinary.
"Okay, that's something new!" I looked to the direction it should have came from, and that's when I saw Daud in his previous Dragon form.
His chest began to glow and I recognised that from when we first encountered him in the cloning laboratory.
I made a break for it and ran with all my might as the babies cried in my arms.
Meanwhile, he tore his way through the facility chasing after me while using his new golden flames which I feared was an enhanced version of his fire breath.
Upon reaching the room with the Darkghast I took a gamble and I ran inside ignoring their existence as I leapt into the middle of their group.
Before they could do anything against me, the roof was peeled away by a large clawed hand, followed by Daud's Dragon jaws snapping around the head of the 10 meter Darkghast and in one swift motion effortlessly bit its head clean off.
*sniff* *sniff*
It seemed he was trying to smell me, I was holding a hand clasped tightly around the babies mouths to prevent them making sound a sound, otherwise we're all dead.
The blood of the leader of the Darkghasts with the group seems to be masking my scent among them.
Daud seemed to have given up and left, I didn't dare come out in fear he might come back.
When I finally left I ran outside ignoring the look the creatures gave to my back.
I leapt up through the hole in the room and made it to the outside of the hull.
Looking around I saw the Twilight come in for approach as the ramp lowered itself.
Master was waiting for me personally as R2 was definitely piloting the ship.
I leaped up and landed on the ship's docking ramp and gave Master the children in my arms as I breathed a sigh of relief.
"That was a close one Master, great timing on coming after he left." He took the kids from me and gave them to the medical droid to look after.
"What do you mean?" When those words left Master's lips the thought hit me like a bolt of lighting.
Oh no.
He faked it!
I looked back down towards where I came, and what I thought was the roof of the building i came from, was slightly blurry in some places. That's when I took a closer look and saw it, a pair of eyes staring right at me!
