They kept running deep into the forest.
Trees blurred past as the ground cracked beneath their feet. Then,
Kosan suddenly closed the distance, appearing beside Michael in a burst of heat.
"Hey," Kosan said, running effortlessly at his side, glancing over with a mocking smile. "Why are you running? Aren't you going to stop?"
Michael didn't answer.
Instead,
VROOOM!
His speed surged again, the air screaming as he pushed forward. The forest thinned rapidly, trees giving way to open land,
and then they burst into a vast, wide clearing.
Michael slowed to a stop.
Finally.
"This is good enough," he said calmly. "We're here."
High above, unseen,
Rowan hovered in midair, completely concealed, watching silently from above. Untouchable. Invincible.
Michael lifted his massive sword and rested it casually on his shoulder.
"Well then," he said, eyes locking onto Kosan, "how should I kill you?"
He tilted his head slightly, as if genuinely thinking.
