Chapter 6 - I'm Not Playing Judge And Executioner... 3

She proved strong-willed, and for a moment after the second slap, she still clung to composure. David, however, delivered a third strike anyway—just in case—and the cumulative effect left her utterly undone. After that final, cruel contact, he gave her an hour to gather herself, a brutal grace period in which she could try to compose the public face a leader must wear.

"As president of the United States, it's my duty to keep order. Understand, I can't let this information hit the public, but I can promise you that this information would be used to reign the people reasonable to justice…"

She said truthfully. As a leader of a nation who had only come into power less than a year ago, all of this was news to her. But as president, she was required to act in the nation's best interest, and killing David was just that. She couldn't let David use this as something to blackmail or destroy the people's faith in the government.

"So, how did trying to kill me support your goals?" David asked, his lips curling into a mocking smile as he leaned back in his chair.

"One, you committed a crime—breaking and entering. That alone gave me full right to kill you under the law. Secondly, your tone and the aura you gave painted a clear picture that you were not an ally. This would do more harm to the people than good if it hits the public," she said firmly.

David nodded at her words, showing he understood the reasoning. He didn't argue the points, simply acknowledging them with a quiet acceptance.

"Sure… anyways, the reason I came here, I want a role in the government. Take that information I brought to you as simply something to convince you to accept the role I want," David said lightly. He spoke calmly, the words light as if he were making a simple request rather than issuing a demand backed by evidence that could topple careers.

"What role would that be?" the president asked, her brow furrowing into a deep frown as she regarded him carefully.

"The judge and executioner. I want the right to kill criminals and face none of the side effects. Of course, I could have just gone out and done this; I wouldn't have come here to ask you about it. I have the means to teleport to someone, kill them, and disappear without a person ever knowing a thing… but I want to do this the right way," David said, his tone calm. He made the offer plainly, as if laying out terms in a negotiation rather than confessing to an extreme demand.

"I can't allow that. What would the people think if meta-humans were running around killing others without the right to a court trial?" she asked, shock and disbelief clear in her voice. The idea of granting any individual the legal authority to take life without due process struck her as monstrous, and she could not hide how strongly she felt about maintaining the rule of law.

"Oh? So, with how many times the Joker has been in and out of court, why is he still running around committing crimes? I would say that many would fill the street, cheering that such people are six feet under and the streets are safer. I would even bet that they would cheer if I went up to those corrupt members in the government and killed them… Am I wrong?" David asked, his words sharp and provocative. He watched the president closely as he spoke, measuring her reaction.

The president's jaw tightened; she ground her teeth at his bluntness. She could not deny the bitter truth in what he said, and the realization stung.

"I would go a step further. I can list criminal crimes, and let the people decide what I should do with them. Both you and I know a good number of people would storm the streets, questioning why the government is protecting these criminals. You would try to defend yourself, destroying the people's trust in you and the system. I would bet that many would take matters into their own hands and take to the streets… after all, America lacks guns." David said lightly, his voice measured as he laid out the consequences he expected.

"What's to stop you from letting power go to your head?" she asked softly, concern and fear threading through her words.

"The simple answer is, no one can even touch me, much less stop me. I'm an unstoppable force." David said, placing his palm flat on the table. As he brought his hand down, the table began to crack under the pressure, fissures spidering outward as the wood split—unable to withstand even the approach of his palm before it made contact.

"I'm untouchable. Be grateful that I'm allowing you to have some power over me. I could have stepped out and begun slaughtering everyone," David said calmly, his tone steady and matter-of-fact. The president's eyes dropped to the table, still cracked from his earlier demonstration, her face frozen in shock as she struggled to process the weight of his words.

Shaking his head, David moved with sudden ease, lifting her effortlessly from her chair. The president screamed, her voice breaking with raw fear as she thrashed in his grip, her composure shattering under the suddenness of the act. Guards rushed forward at the sound, weapons drawn, but before they could fire, she quickly called out to them, forcing her trembling voice into authority. She demanded they calm down, insisting that David wasn't attacking her, even as panic laced her tone.

In the blink of an eye, everything shifted. The room around them dissolved, and the president felt the lurch of space compressing and bending. An instant later, she was standing in a different location entirely, teleported without warning. Her surroundings came into focus, and she realized where she was—the president's secret chamber, one of the most heavily guarded and secure places in the world.

The chamber had been built for this exact purpose: to shield her from catastrophic threats, whether they came from foreign powers, alien invaders, or even someone as powerful as Superman. Walls layered with reinforced materials, hidden technology, and systems designed for absolute defense surrounded her.

Yet to her shock, the moment David appeared inside the chamber, the defense systems activated at once. A barrage of lasers shot toward them from every angle, beams designed to cut through even the strongest of intruders. But instead of striking their targets, the attacks all froze in midair, suspended as though the space around David refused to allow them through. He walked forward unbothered, each step steady, and even the president realized she was shielded under the same effect, protected by whatever force made it impossible for the attacks to touch him.

"You guys say that Superman can't break this down?" David asked calmly, his blindfolded gaze turning toward the massive vault door that sealed off the innermost part of the chamber.

As he approached, the thick reinforced metal groaned under invisible pressure. David never actually touched it—thanks to Infinity, true contact was impossible. Instead, the vault itself was forced to retreat from him, the space between them manipulated until the metal bent and buckled. With every step he took, the vault was pushed further back, as though struck by an overwhelming force. The structure screamed under the strain until it finally shattered apart, fragments falling uselessly around him.

David walked through the destroyed vault with calm indifference, moving forward as though nothing had ever stood in his way. It might as well, since David wasn't even slowed down by the vault.

"Give me a few months… it will take time to get everyone on board," she said, her voice shaking after everything she had just witnessed. The tremor in her tone betrayed the fear still clinging to her, even as she tried to sound composed.

"Good. Call me. I have dirt on everyone, even you. It would be my pleasure to work with you," David replied, his words calm yet heavy with certainty.

With that, he lowered her back to the ground, setting her on her feet as if nothing unusual had happened. An instant later, his figure vanished completely as he teleported away, leaving her standing alone in the ruined vault.

The president remained trapped there, the secret systems locking her inside the vault. It took time before the automated defenses finally powered down, and only then was she able to leave the secret underground basement where she had been left behind.
