Chapter 5 - Raven 5

"How stupid."

Mor slowly got up from the ground and stood on his feet, looking at Raven with cold eyes full of disgust, and spoke in a trembling tone that was almost mocking.

"That's why I hate you, you live in such a rosy world, you want to fight death? This is nothing but nonsense, death is salvation itself."

"You're wrong, Mor, death is not salvation, it's surrender, and I'm a little stubborn, I don't like to give up, not even for a second."

Raven got up from the ground and stood in front of Mor, who looked exactly like him, and their eyes met, carrying different gazes.

"I know you look at life this way because of everything that happened, but, Mor, can you just endure with me a little? I'll show you, that life is worth living."

Mor closed his eyes for several moments as if he was drowning in his thoughts until a mocking smile appeared on his face.

"As if I have another choice."

"Isn't that right? I'm the one in control in the end, you bastard."

Raven turned his head to the side with a faint smile and looked at the place where he was currently.

Unlike the previous darkness, this place, which resembled a room, contained several torches that lit it up.

And although the place was a little damp and filled with rocks, it still seemed in good condition, as if someone had been taking care of it.

In the middle of the small room, there was a stone slab engraved with several words in the same language Raven mastered.

[Here lies the husband, father, and great leader, Orlax Terishtin from 2014 to 2146

The man who once ruled the world]

"Orlax Terishtin? Who is this? I've never heard of him before, and the date is a bit strange, we are now in the year 647, does this mean that I might currently be in the future?"

Raven approached the tombstone that seemed to have been placed here a long time ago due to the visible cracks on it.

"The man who once ruled the world, that sounds poetic."

And while Raven was watching the tombstone, he noticed a small hole in one of the edges, so he pushed his finger inside out of curiosity.

Clank! Clank! Clank!

A strange sound came out from beneath the tombstone as if something ancient had started working again.

Raven tried to pull out his right ring finger but found it stuck and couldn't get it out.

"Damn it!"

And while he was pulling his finger so hard that he feared it would be cut off, the torches hanging on the cave walls began to change color from yellow flames to blue.

And in the place where he had inserted his finger, a blinding white light began to shine, forcing him to cover his face with his hand to block the light.

"Ugh! What the hell is happening?"

His finger began to feel tingling as if someone was stabbing it with many needles at the same time.

And since he couldn't do anything in this situation, he clenched his teeth and tried to endure the pain.

"Hahaha, you deserve this."

Raven ignored Mor mockery from the side and wiped the sweat off his forehead.

And after several moments, the white light gradually faded, and the torches returned to their normal color once again.

Finally, Raven felt that the thing holding his finger had disappeared, so he quickly pulled it out.

He fell to the ground, panting and breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling rapidly.

"Hah, hah, remind me not to put my finger into things like this again."

"Hahahaha, why? That was fun."

Raven raised his middle finger towards Mor and refocused on his own finger.

"Hah? What's this?"

And the reason for his surprise was that on his finger was now a strange ring he hadn't been wearing before.

This ring was made of a pure black band like darkness, with a glowing red gem in the center, as if it were made of blood.

"This ring looks expensive, if I sell it I can make a lot of money, hehe."

"Yes, if you can get out of here, you idiot."

Mor shattered Raven's dreams of wealth and reminded them of their current situation, where they were still trapped in this cave and dozens of monsters outside were waiting for him to come out.

Raven placed his left hand on the ring on his right hand and felt it a little before trying to pull it off his finger.

"Why won't this damn ring come off my finger?"

He tried pulling with all his strength but to no avail, the ring did not move even a fraction, as if it were fused to his skin.

"Damn it! I suffered for nothing."

Raven lay on the ground looking at the ceiling but noticed something strange in the corner of his eye, so he focused on it.

And when he did, a semi-transparent blue screen appeared in front of him with several words written on it.

"What the hell is this?"

Raven observed the transparent screen floating in front of him from every angle and tried to touch it, but his hand went straight through.

"So it's just a display screen and not tangible, more importantly, where did this screen come from? Could it be because of this ring?"

Raven felt the ring on his right hand and refocused on the screen floating in front of him.

"My name and age are correct, Exilis, I've never heard of that before, my stats are all 10, is that good?"

And while he was busy reviewing his statistics, another screen popped up out of nowhere, different from the one floating in front of him.

[What you see before you is the power that helped me reach the top of the world, to the one who will inherit it after me, I hope you make the best use of it.

{Orlax Terishtin}]

"Hah, seems like this Orlax is an interesting guy, thank you for this, it looks like it'll be a big help indeed."

[You can now access the Inventory]

This time, the screen that appeared had several slots, most of them empty except for two at the top.

One contained a sword-like shape, and the other a strange green gem.

"Hmmm, this looks more and more like a game, how do I pull this out?"
