Chapter 12 - Ch-12| Second layer

Both the old dwarf and Siara were walking on a curved path of stones. The path was rather zigzag than curved if looked at from the skies. Besides the path were beautiful grass fields and flowers of many kinds. Siara, looking at the flowers, was impressed, as flowers didn't grow everywhere in her home world. There were some exceptions, but generally, her kingdom and most of the neighboring kingdoms were covered with snow. So seeing a land of no snow was really a big deal for her. The kingdom had set up a kind of shield to prevent snow and cold, and through their technological capacity, it was not very hard for them. Currently, their seasonal cycles were maintained artificially. But soon Siara freed herself from immersing in those memories and focused on the cheerful environment with a smile. The golden sunlight became brighter. Siara and the old dwarf reached the shop.

[ Riley's Polararms ]

The old dwarf entered the shop, instructing Siara with hand signs to stay outside the shop and not go far. Siara stood there with no choice.

Few moments later...

Siara was trying to get under the shadow of the shop so that she wouldn't feel hot. The sun, which had been giving her joy a few moments ago, was unbearable for her then. It actually made sense, too. Siara was a native of a land filled with cold and snow. Though the artificial shields blocked the snow, the atmosphere of her place was not as hot as this.

Finally in a comfortable zone, she got time to see and think about her surroundings. According to her, it was really beautiful—the grassy fields and distant houses. Siara thought that she might have passed through a market to reach the polararms shop because when she was visiting the small shops, they were located very close to each other. But after coming to the area of the polararms shop, mostly the houses, shops, and other buildings were located at a proper distance—not too close, not too far. Siara thought that if she had a wide-brim sun hat, she might feel a little eased, but nevertheless, it was not all bad. She was annoyed by the heat, but at the same time, she was enjoying it. She stood bending a little backward with the support of the wall behind her. She moved her leg in such a way that a small pebble came onto her foot near her toes. For passing the time, she started juggling the pebble on her foot—to be precise, on her white shoes, which did not have a pointed tip, but a soft and blunt tip. It was not hard for her as she was wearing white stockings and the dress was not very long. Soon, she immersed herself in that activity. But at one point, her balance collapsed, and the pebble was about to fall. The moment the pebble was about to touch the ground, something unexpected happened. Siara somehow got the pebble on her foot again and started juggling once more. For Siara, it was her balance and precision which were also factors, but at that moment, something more happened. Something that Siara missed. The point Siara lost balance over the pebble, it was destined to be on the ground. But illogically, Siara managed to get it again.

30 minutes later...

Siara was still juggling the stone, and the fact that she was not annoyed by the old dwarf, who had gone for too long, was quite surprising. No, it wasn't because she waited a really long time and lacked patience. In fact, Siara was one of the most patient girls for her age. But the reason she didn't notice the lateness of the old dwarf was because she had really forgotten about him. She completely immersed herself in juggling the stone. No, she was not doing it because she had suddenly lost all her feelings. In the meantime, when she initially started juggling, she started seeing some visions. Actually, she was gradually recollecting her memories in that unknown starry area. Though she had not really forgotten those memories, after waking up she couldn't think of them. Maybe she didn't get the free time to think about it. But now, when no one was near her and she was completely alone without any task, she started remembering those memories. Firstly, she remembered the endless energy drain and hunger. Secondly, she remembered the never-ending area of a starry dark floor. Thirdly, she remembered the painful memories of her past, which were the worst things she had in her memories. Fourthly, the endless darkness and a never-ending fall. And lastly, but before she could even process the thought, she started juggling faster. She wanted her attention to be completely diverted to another activity. She could remember all things and somehow might even endure them, but she never wanted those painful memories of another world to resurface in her mind. After walking, she even forgot she had a life in another world. Although while jumping off that nothingness she decided not to run anymore, she never agreed to live with her past. The only things she wanted to keep from that world were her body, name, and thoughts. She wanted to live as herself—someone who was never accepted in the world she lived in. Therefore, she wanted to live in this new world, free from her past and free from her curses.

Though she did have a last wish: she wanted a good tombstone in her world.

But she remembered that she was alive. She was not reincarnated, but transmigrated. But she made that mistake intentionally, trying to make something of herself.

Siara finally dropped the pebble. She froze in her place—not out of despair, not out of shock, and not even out of anguish. She just froze because she mistakenly dropped the pebble. Her first reaction was serious, but soon it turned into embarrassment, because at the time she froze, the old dwarf came out and said something. Though she didn't understand what he had said, her reaction was singular: she wanted to find the nearest river and jump into it.

Her face became red, and she looked toward the old dwarf. The old dwarf pointed his index finger toward the same market area they had crossed to get to the polararms shop.

While walking on their way back, Siara looked toward the old dwarf and her fingers touched her chin. She thought that the old dwarf came empty-handed, yet took quite a while in the shop. At first, she thought that he might have given an order for custom polararms. But she thought,

'Why would someone take so much time for that?'

Siara then remembered the board outside the polararms shop. The board didn't only tell the name, but also mentioned some other items that could be found in the shop. But it was none of Siara's business, so she didn't think of it much. In fact, she wasn't even going to think about it, but while diverting her thoughts, she got fixed on juggling. As soon as her juggling plan failed, she saw the old dwarf. So she subconsciously started thinking about him. Therefore, she wondered what took so much time for the old dwarf to leave her for that long.

Siara's eyes locked onto the stalls and shops as soon as she reached that familiar marketplace. She didn't give it a second thought and started exploring the shops she had missed on the way there.

The old dwarf didn't stop Siara either.

Though she didn't have the money to buy things, looking doesn't require money. So she saw and observed every shop that came into her sight. Though she was putting her attention on the shops, she didn't delay the old dwarf. Actually, the old dwarf walked straight while Siara quickly went exploring a shop, and after seeing what it sold, she quickly caught up with the old dwarf.

The old dwarf took Siara to the very start of the road where they had landed. At the very start—or call it the end—there was a huge flower-like thing. The petals were transparent with blue lines and veins. At times, the blue veins glowed, too. The flower was as big as a small mansion. Though in comparison with Leon's current stay it was smaller, the size of the flower was not to be ignored. After seeing the magical wingless beasts and a white dragon, it was Siara's next admiration. But she didn't like the flower. She felt something ominous about the huge transparent flower. But the flower was not their destination. About 20 meters before the huge flower was a gate to the left. The gate was huge and built inside the mountain. The gate was as huge as required for a giant to pass, but there were no giants on the mountain. Siara and the old dwarf entered the already opened giant iron gate with rectangular patterns. Inside the gate were many paths leading to other places. But none of those mattered because Siara and the old dwarf had already reached their destination. There was a big circular sphere of purple energy rotating on the x-axis. The rotating speed was not significantly high, just normal. The old dwarf grabbed Siara's hand like last time and made a run towards the sphere. When Siara was dragged by the old dwarf, she suddenly lost her composure as she was unexpectedly dragged in an instant. But the old dwarf didn't care and touched the sphere.

In the next scene, they were falling from the sky like before, landing safely on the second layer. Siara tried her best to scream, but it felt as if even her body had given up resisting anymore, as if her body had understood the assignment before Siara herself. But as before, a blue veil shrouded both Siara and the old dwarf. The veil reduced their falling speed, and before they were about to touch the ground, it started levitating in the air.

Siara controlled her body and positioned herself for any sudden fall. Actually, the previous time when the blue veil shrouded them, the same events had occurred. She thought that they were safe. But at the last time, after a few seconds, the veil started levitating, disappeared, and Siara fell on the ground miserably. Though the old dwarf already knew about it, he didn't tell Siara. When she found that the old dwarf was steadier than her, she was shocked, but soon realized that he already knew how the mechanism works. Her second reaction was a little disappointment and a breaking of trust in the old dwarf. But this time, she exactly knew what was going to happen. When the veil disappeared again, she landed on the ground on her own legs.
