Chapter 8 - Chapter 8. First Job Completed

In the Gold City, in the area nearest to the target's residence, Yong and Zhuge sat, discussing something.

Earlier, Yong's appearance had caused the Hue Li family to become hysterical. Not long after Yong regained his senses, he quickly left the place. He was with Zhuge, who seemed to have already thought of a way to eliminate the target.

"Killing is a matter of ease; it depends on us. Hey, are you listening to me, Yong?"

Yong couldn't focus on the conversation at all. He was silently lost in thought, staring at the reflection of his face that hadn't changed in the puddle of water. Yong's emotions were a confused mess of anger and fear.

A horn, fangs, red pupils, and black claws. All these features were on him, and they had not disappeared since he attacked Hue Li.

"Hey, Yong. You have to listen to me!" Zhuge called out, a little louder, while shaking his body.

"Ah, I'm sorry, Leader. Did you just call me?" Yong asked, finally waking from his daze.

"Please don't ignore me in a crisis like this."

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Leader. It's all my fault, because I got angry, they will surely call someone to look for and destroy us," Yong said.

"No. Even if this is your fault, I don't think they will tell anyone about what happened. And about the Gǔdài dòngwù he mentioned, that too," Zhuge thought with a smile.

"Why?" Yong furrowed his brow, puzzled.

"If they tell anyone, their house will also be ransacked by them. He has so much evidence of his crimes."

Zhuge waved the sheet of paper he was carrying. He intended to tell Yong that the man would not take such a big risk. Hue Li was a careful person.

"I see." Yong lowered his head again after seeing the pleased expression on Zhuge's face.

"So, back to the original topic. We already know his rottenness. This evidence is in our hands, and we are the ones who will end his life by 'accident'," Zhuge revealed.

Yong was startled. The young man had no idea what his leader, Zhuge, meant. Zhuge himself had thought this through carefully.

He occasionally glanced at the target's house from a distance. The target seemed not to have left the house since the incident.

"We will do it at night," Zhuge said.

"Wait, what do you mean by 'by accident'?" Yong asked.

"An accident," Zhuge replied.

"The Leader will make the murder look like an accident? Isn't that sneaky?" From the tone of his voice, Yong wanted to refuse this sly method.

"Sneaky, you say? So do you think that man deserves to be treated honestly and fairly?" the big man replied.

"No. That man cannot be forgiven in such a way. It would be pointless."

"Right? That's why I chose this method."

Zhuge grinned widely while holding Yong's shoulders. He was convincing the innocent young man to stick to the plan because it was the best one.

"Listen. You are not a swordsman, a defender of justice, let alone a hero. Now you are just a demon working under me," Zhuge said in a low voice.

The grip on Yong's shoulders felt stronger, as if Zhuge wanted to break his shoulder bones. He groaned in pain while trying to free Zhuge's grip, but he still couldn't.

"Follow my orders if you really want your swordsmanship back," Zhuge added.

"D-do I always have to follow a person I've disliked all this time? I usually chop down people like you," Yong said.

His shoulder bone was really broken by Zhuge. It was unimaginable how painful it was, but Yong endured and only kept groaning without screaming. He knew that if he screamed, it would cause another commotion.

"Your abilities are beyond average. So I think just like when you were splashed with hot water, your broken bone will heal soon."

The man was truly unreasonable. Zhuge, a man with dragon blood, stood in front of Yong. For a moment, he glanced back with a cynical look.

He spoke again, "Night will come. Let's set a trap for Hue Li."

The twilight sky had appeared, and soon darkness would arrive. At that time, Yong felt very sleepy. If he didn't resist, his eyes would be tightly closed.

"Hey, don't fall asleep," Zhuge warned.

"Yeah."

"If you fall asleep, then maybe that demon will rampage and control you again," he said.

"Yes." To Yong, Zhuge himself was a demon.

That's why his answers were always brief.

What they were doing was tampering with every corner of a wooden cabinet and its legs. Zhuge's plan was simple: to make the cabinet fall and crush Hue Li later.

They were lucky enough to sneak back in after the incident earlier in the morning. Who knows what happened to the servant and Hue Li's son, while Hue Li himself was still in the house looking for the missing records.

"Good, it's done."

Zhuge gave the command to get out of the room immediately. Yong nodded and then left with him. They lurked in the darkness of the night, shadowed by the trees.

After waiting for half an hour, their target for the day, Hue Li, finally appeared, entering his room. Hue Li's expression had not changed from the beginning. Even when he was injured, he was still determined to find the records while muttering angrily.

Until a time came when he intended to rummage through his cabinet, an intentional incident occurred.

"Annoying! Those records are gone, who knows where. If this continues—!"

He opened the cabinet door roughly, and the cabinet's legs began to wobble. The upper corner of the cabinet also appeared to be leaning forward.

"What's wrong with this cabinet?" Hue Li wondered, tilting his head up.

After that, the cabinet immediately fell when it lost its balance. Hue Li, who didn't have time to escape, met a tragic end. His head hit the side of the cabinet, and he fell and was crushed on the spot.

"He's dying slowly. He's quite strong," Zhuge said.

"What are you planning after this?" Yong asked.

"Just watch."

The twilight sky had set, replaced by the night that marked the end of their job.

The atmosphere inside the house was quite quiet. This was their biggest advantage. The female servant and the man's son were gone, while Hue Li was alone here. There was no one. This was why their plan went so smoothly without any obstacles like this morning.

The corpse was lying face down. Both eyes were wide open, and blood continued to flow profusely. Seeing this had become his daily routine throughout his life, but somehow, this time it felt a little different than usual.

"What's wrong?" Zhuge, who felt something strange about him, asked. "Quick, put the records on the small table," Zhuge added, ordering Yong.

Yong immediately placed several sheets of paper containing transaction records and other evidence of Hue Li's crimes all this time on a small table.

"I've done it," Yong said, giving him a cynical look.
