Chapter 78 - Chase

They headed off back to their HQ. obviously, Henry drove the car because he didn't trust anyone else to drive – not even his fiancé. He turned the next corner and stopped behind a car on a red light. More cars piled up in a line as the re traffic light gleamed above them. Finally, it turned green and they drove off with the crowd. After a few minutes, he parked near the sidewalk and rested.

Missio didn't react, continuing to listen to his music. Krishna leaned forward and asked Henry.

"Yo, why'd you stop the car?"

"Rest. Now, shut up."

Henry pushed Krishna back. Krishna sighed and sat in silence. They both looked out the window at the same time and saw someone…familiar. A small figure wearing a red-striped black robe was happily reading a book on a bench. Henry frowned and Krishnas eyes widened.

"Henry…" Krishna whispered.

"Yes…sneak up on him." Henry replied.

They both, exited the car acting normal. Then, they glanced at the figure, acting as if they had just noticed him. Krishna was oddly complying with him instead of messing around as usual which was…strange. Henry shrugged it off and approached the individual.

"Hello, sir. What are you doing?"

The figure lifted his head, revealing a black facemask. Henry narrowed his eyes as the figure spoke.

"Oh, officers. What do you need? I'm just reading a book."

"Are you going to some kind of…cult meeting or something because that is a weird outfit." Krishna pointed out.

"Oh, No. My friend is having a scary costume party so I just went with the newer trends by dressing up as the deputy chief's murderer."

"Right…instead of fictional character?" Henry questioned.

"Oh, those were the old day. Now, we dress as actual murders." The figure chuckled.

"So, can I ask you a question?"

"Of course!"

"How'd you know the murderer was wearing a mask?"

The figure paused, smacking his lips. "Well…I didn't…I just like to hide my face"

"And you chose a…black face mask?"

"…Yes, this fit better."

Henry drew a sharp breath. "Then, can I ask you to take off that mask?"

The man froze but Henry noticed something strange…as if in the time of the conversation they had, he wasn't telling him something important. The figure sighed heavily and shook his head.

"No…I can't."

"Then, can you identify yourself?" Henry inquired.

"No, I shall not." The man replied.

"Sir, you are required by law to identify yourselves to officers."

"And you boys are enforcers, aren't you?"

Henry froze and realized he had figured them out. He reached out, trying to grab the man but he instantly disappeared from his position, leaving only the book. The man landed near but ran away the second he touched the ground.

"Get him!" Henry screamed.

"I know – stop screaming!" Krishna replied.

They chased the figure, following his every move. He crossed a zebra-crossing and so, did they. He turned a corner and so, did they. He then, tried disappearing into the crowd. Henry pushed through people with Krishna. They exited the crowd and caught their breaths. Krishna looked forward and saw the man running away.

'Damn, you bastard…I could've easily caught you if a wanted to but…'

He shook his head and ran forward. Henry followed the chaos incarnate with all his might. The figure ran atop a bridge above a highway and the enforcers followed suit. Then, the man suddenly, leapt off. Krishna and Henry paused for a moment, then looked down from the railings. He wasn't there but they checked the other side.

The figure was standing atop a semi-truck, looking at them through the hollow eyes of the mask. Krishna didn't waste a second, he climbed over the railing while the semi-truck fully exited the underway of the bridge.

"Hey! Wait! What are you do-?"

Before Henry could finish, Krishna leapt an incredible distance. He caught the edge of the truck, bashing against its metal surface. He groaned and climbed onto the top. He rolled over, rubbing his cheek and looked back. He locked eyes with henry and gave him a thumbs up. Henry nodded and ran away, heading towards their car. Krishna stood up and looked at the dwarf.

"So…you like playing tag?"

"Maybe?"

"I wanna ask a question. Mind answering?"

"No problem."

"Why'd you kill the minister and the deputy?"

"I didn't kill the deputy."

"You know what I talking about. The other guy killed a relatively mid to high level figure but you…. you killed a minister."

"What about it?"

"Do you want to start a war? Wanna hear kids screaming brain-rot while they get gunned down?"

"My targets don't matter to you."

"They do. Now, how many others are in on this? Who else is coming to this 'Halloween party'?"

"I'm coming."

"I see…then…"

Before he could talk again, he sensed a familiar presence approaching. He rotated, his hair gliding in the wind. Behind the truck was a tinted black car, oozing with Chaos. He clicked his tongue and locked eyes with the Dwarf again.

"Well…it's seems our little session is ending."

"It is." The man replied.

"Now, what will you do?"

Krishna looked up, seeing another bridge. He ducked down, avoiding hitting his head while the dwarf stood as he was. After they passed the bridge, he stood up and asked in a mocking tone.

"So? What will it be? I can follow you anywhere."

"You can…"

The figure raised his hand and formed a cross.

"But will you?"

Krishna smirked. "Of course, I will."

"Lies."

As the man's words echoed, he suddenly vanished as if he had never been there in the first place...Krishna looked with dumbfounded eyes and groaned.

'He isn't wrong…'
